I was talking to a friend earlier about breastfeeding.

Pero i did ask her bakit hindi nalang siya mag ebf at sabi niya hindi daw enough ang milk niya para sa chubby na niya na anak (2 months na)...i told her na try niya sumali sa bfp kasi ako dami ko natutunan dun esp yung pagbigay ng formula is a way of telling your body na hindi na niya kelangan iproduce yon at uunti talaga kesa sa kailangan ni baby ang ilalabas kasi di naman ebf. minsan nagiguilty ako kasi eto ako, buntis pa and have absolutely no experience sa breastfeeding at sinasabihan siya (kahit close kami!). sana manganak na ako at sana makapag ebf kami ni baby at di mahirapan. Salamat ulit sa mga sumagot saakin dati! Happy to tell you na head down nanaman si baby haha niloloko lang ata ako neto at pinapakaba at after 6 days umikot nanaman pahead down (36w6d nakahorizontal then check up ko 37w5d head down na).

One they feed very often because of their small stomach and also due to growth spurts. Plus si baby adapting pa sa world so iyakin pa so feeling ko frustrated siya kasi walang nakukuha.

Im not so much of a breastfeeding advocate. I know it is best but it gets really frustrating and stressful at times. It wasnt as easy as i expected it would be.

mommies i'm exclusively breastfeeding my 10 day old baby kaso sobrang nahihirapan ako. i feel stuck sa ginagawa ko. parang nakakulong lang ako sa pagpapadede sa kanya which makes me feel sad. hindi ganito ineexpect ko at all when I got pregnant sa kanya. i was so determined na ebf kami kaso the week i gave birth, i barely had 2 hours of sleep a day. wala pa kasi kami routine nun.

few days ago, finally tinulungan na ako ng mga parents ko in taking care of her kaso parang na build up na yung anxiety ko. last friday i was rushed to the ER due to high bp na naman, 170/120. i was told to rest kasi kaso dahil sa pagpapadede hindi ako makapahinga. sobrang hands on ako sa baby ko during the first week kaso ngayon parang may post partum blues na yata ako. i feel sad all the time. kapag natapos na paternity leave ng husband ko i'll be left all alone kay baby na naman and i feel guilty for feeling this kaso parang ayaw ko na talaga. :(

is this normal? did anyone felt like this din? i really hope na this is due to exhaustion lang. mixed emotions ako kay baby ngayon pero i feel detached sa kanya. hindi ko naman sya kayang pabayaan kaso i resent what i'm doing. :(

^oh no sis don't give up. Sorry, wala pa akong experience pero here I am sinasabihan ka kahit hindi ko alam sinasabi ko. Just think about the benefits na makukuha ni baby and harm na makukuha nya sa formula. Kaya mo yan sis! Nap when baby naps, or expressed milk na lang siguro ibigay mo every other feeding para alternate and masmahaba ang rest mo. Don't give up sis. You can do it!

^^ I think I went through a similar phase sa first two-three weeks namin ni baby. Well, I didn't really feel distant from her, pero I really felt exhausted and frustrated then. Minsan umiiyak ako, especially pag madaling araw tapos iyak ng iyak si baby kasi colicky or me growth spurt or cluster-feeding.

what helped was pag nakaramdam ako ng inis or something, I'd give baby to hubby. Then I'd sit in silence in the room or sa cr for a while. When I feel I've composed myself na, I'd get baby or hubby brought baby over to me. if wala si hubby, I'd put baby down sa crib or sa bed and let her cry for a few mins. Then breathing exercises ako. kukunin ko sya pag medyo ok na.. I guess it helped din na I was into yoga before kaya napaparelax ko sarili ko.

First month, I was hands-on too. My only rest was when kukunin ng Mom ko si baby around 6am para paarawan sa labas. I just make sure na kaka-feed nya lang before lumabas para di agad umiyak. At least 30mins-1hr of me-time din yun. Pagkabalik from paaraw, ako na ulit. Hubby took 2weeks paternity leave so that helped din kasi sya assistant ko sa mga bagay-bagay.

i guess it's normal for some of us to go through that phase.. but it gets better, sis. When baby starts to sleep longer, and she doesn't look/feel so fragile anymore, you'll get better rest, etc.

After a month, tumatakas kami ni hubby kahit quick lunch or dinner lang. Minsan movie. I feed baby before umalis, then usually after 2-3hrs pa sya ulit dedede so pagkadede, alis kami agad, iwan muna kay yaya, nakalapag lang sa crib. At least for 2hrs e nakalabas ako ng house at nakapag-"date" with hubby. Buti madaming ok na kainan and cinemas malapit sa amin, so di namin kelangan lumayo para makapag-"us" time.. mabilis din makauwi pag biglang kelangan ako ni baby.

sis, get all the help you can, from your mom, your hubby, or kung kanino man. When you feel overwhelmed, step back, stay away from baby muna, let her cry for a few minutes lalo't alam mo namang busog sya and hindi basa ang diapers. Kunin mo na lang ulit when you're feeling better na. While you're alone, think about why you're doing all these. Remind yourself that our baby also feels helpless kasi kakalabas lang sa womb, malamang sila din nao-overwhelm sa new world nila. So they need our comfort, the warmth of our arms and the security it provides them. Try to be relaxed when breastfeeding kasi sabi daw e the baby senses our emotions din. Deep breathing...

@sis _Aiah_ ganyan din experience ko with my 5-month old daughter. When I was pregnant I was so sure that i could ebf but its not the same when your baby comes out. Nahirapan ako sa pain ng episiotomy and breastfeeding due to incorrect latching ni baby so I did mix feeding. So gradual yung pagbalik ko sa bf. When I got home from the hospital nag 20% bm ako then 80% formula. Pump lang ako for about 2 weeks kaya lang konti lang lumalabas. After 2 weeks nagpadirect latch na ako. Masakit pa din pero tolerable na. From 20% bm naging 40% na. Tiis lang hanggang kaya kasi minsan nakaka stress talaga kapag every hour gusto magfeed. I still give formula kapag nasa labas at mahirap magbf. Im not
saying na mag mix feed ka sis. Just do what is best you think for you and your baby. Hands on mom din ako. Ngayon treasured memories na yung experiences ko during her first month. Lighten up sis. Kung nakayanan namin kakayanin mo din.

^ hugs to you sis Aiah.  My son is almost 4 wks and so far, ok naman. I  think I had better coping mechanism in place now because I went through what you are going through with my eldest before. Kung baga, alam ko na what to expect and prepared na ako. With my eldest, may mga days na darating si hubby sa house, umiyak ako na parang katapusan na ng mundo. I was by myself with my daughter in a foreign country, no one who could help me out to give me a break Lalo na during the times hindi ako halos nakatulog, super exhausted and hungry. Alam mo yung feeling na na gaining ka na sa gutom, Tapos sobrang antok na willing ako mag bayad kahit Magkano parang lang Meron sasalit sa akin sandali Pero there is no one. I didn't even have time to prepare food for myself sa kakaalaga sa baby, Lalo na maligo or makapagtooth brush man lang.

Hang in there sis, importante aware ka what's going on para you can star doing something about it and seek help. Ako noon, I was not aware. I had a difficult time getting pregnant and yon lang inulit ulit ko sa sarili ko. I've come this far, having my daughter and now that she is out, ngayon pa ako bibitiw.

I was EBF with my daughter also even though hubby's insurance covered formula for her kasi may allergic reaction sya sa milk. We did get the lactose free formula na bigay for her but we didn't use it. Binigay ko na Lang sa cousin ko when we went home. Alam ko na Mas customized ang milk ko for my baby kesa sa ano pa man na special formula prescribed ng Pedia.

Mga sis tanong ko lang kelan ba mamamanifes na may gatas kang ilalabas before ka ba manganak or after? May mga natatanong kasi sakin if may kumalabas na bang gata sa kin eh hindi pa nama ako nanganganak sabi dapat daw meron na, natatakot tuloy ako mamaya walang kumabas na gatas sakin. Im almost 35weeks now. Thanks.

Walang gatas at all lumabas sa akin while I was pregnant. Wala nga any fullness ako naramdaman. I was still able to EBF my daughter who is 6 yo now and also my son who is just a few days shy of being 1month old.

Don't worry, meron lalabas na gatas after mo manganak. Ipa-latch mo si baby as soon as you are able to. It will trigger milk production.

No milk rin lumabas sa akin while preggy but here i am exclusively breastfeeding my just 1 month old baby. It will be painful for 2 weeks na talagang you will dread the time na your baby will feed again but after a while it is painless na. I refuse to think na i don't have milk and i'm blessed to have milk just a day after giving birth.

Wag agad ma-tempt bumili ng formula. Tingnan ang output ni baby. If may poop and urine then may nakukuha siya. Another plus is medyo mabaho ang poop ng formula-fed babies kaya before pa ako ma-preggy if i have a formula-fed pamangkin or inaanak na nagpoop bigay kaagad sa parents because i can't stand the smell. Now, well no choice naman ako but hindi nakakadiri ang poop ng baby ko and very easy to clean.

Hi mommies is there a way to prevent or malessen yung pagdry and pagsugat ng nipples while breastfeeding? I saw a nipple shield sa pigeon not sure lang if effective yon. 27 weeks here and planning to EBF din. :)

i bought a nipple shield, was not able to use it. They say pag nasanay si baby doon it would be hard to wean him off that. It was painful first 2 weeks for me and i just put lanolin cream after feeding and it helped.

7 months of breastfeeding now, baby now has 4 teeth. He only bit me when his first 2 was cutting through. Ngayon hindi na at all. Thank goodness.
