Even in Cardinal Santos, they do not allowed to bring feeding bottles pa nga. Not that strict pero thry encourage mommies to breastfeed.

I prefer the double-zip ones, mas kampante ako esp since I store my BM sa freezer ng naka-flat.

Nagpapadirect feed pa din ako, usually sa gabi, madaling-araw and sa morning, before ko sya ibigay kay yaya. Then weekends, mostly direct feeding kami. Pag na kay yaya si baby during the day, tsaka sya inom bm from my stash.

Usually, nagbababa na ako ng 2-3 bags from freezer to ref bago matulog sa gabi, for consumption kinabukasan. Para medyo thaw na konti sa morning. Before feeding, babad ni yaya sa tap water to fully thaw then lipat sa bottle. I usually use 2-3 storage bags whenever I pump.

Aside from yung from freezer, kumukuha din si yaya ng 2-3 feedings from my stash na nasa ref part.

^ sis, nakakakinggit yun output mo! For some reason kumonti yun akin.

Hehe. Minsan nagla-lactation cookies din ako. Tapos malunggay supplements.. minsan 2x lang ako nakakapump, kasi minsan feeling ko said na said ako sa morning hanggang tanghali dahil sa unli-latch ni baby.

Hello mga sis, just wanted to ask, which breast pads are you using?

Just wanted to ask alin mas marerecommend niyo: normal or ultra thin? TIA!

Id rather use breast shells as it catches my leaks tapos i could store it pa. I bought nursing pads sa dollor store lang, works okay. I leak, but i dont leak as crazy. 1st month ko lang nagamit yung nursing pads because thats when ones supply is not yet established thus you get engorged.

Is 1-1.5 oz pumped bm a good amount for 1 week post delivery? That's what i get so far but baby is still hungry :( i had to stop latching for 2 days to allow my breasts to heal and now baby won't latch so i've been pumping every 2 hours. My supply hasn't increased yet so wondering when that should happen? I have soup for all meals of the day

^sis pagkakaalam ko hindi pa dapat magpump agad agad. unli latch lang dapat kayo ni baby para masanay sya mag latch sa iyo and at the same time mastimulate milk production mo. kasi if magpump ka too early at mag introduce ng bottle sa kanya, that will cause nipple confusion at baka magrefuse na si baby mag latch sa iyo.

after 6wks pa pwede mag pump sa pagkakaalam ko.

and sometimes di naman talaga sila gutom kaya sila umiiyak. maliit pa kasi yun tummy nila e. minsan kaya sila umiiyak e dahil gusto lang nila kadikit mommies nila. so wag mo iisipin na kulang ang milk mo at nagugutom ang baby mo kasi baka mastress ka lang at makakaapekto pa yun sa milk production mo. ;)

^Agree sis. Sa birthing class ko, sabi nila mga 1 tsp lang ang colostrum per day so baby is not really hungry...that is all they need. may fluids pa daw sila sa katawan. they just need to suck on you and feel secured. When the milk comes in, saka palang mag-gain ng weight si baby and there's no need to have formula...kasi mabubusog sila agad kung supplement pa ng formula and water since they have really tiny stomach. plus magkaka nipple confusion pa. Recommendation din samin yung after 6 weeks pa bago magpump and introduce the bottle.

We were also told na hindi naman palaging gutom lang si baby, kelangan lang nila ng skin to skin to feel secured. 2 nights ago they made us realise kung gaano kalaking adjustment din for our baby ang mailabas na sa mundo. :) Dati ang food nila di nila kelangan hanapin pa, they could feel cold, wala na ang tunog ng heartbeat mo...kaya very important daw ang skin to skin. :) If it helps daw..download ng app sa phone ng white noise.

^^^ sis, important ang direct latching ni baby to establish your supply.. iba pa din kasi ang sucking ng baby kesa ng pump. Ang yes, like what the other sisses mentioned, you're not supposed to pump ng ganyan kaaga. I started pumping at 5.5wks (di ko na napaabot ng 6wks kasi I had to attend a wake so had to leave baby sa house). How long does your pumping session last? Baka masyado din strenous for your breasts ang frequent pumping lalo na of more than 20mins per session.

For now, just keep on making baby latch on you.

Good luck sis! :)

Thanks will try your suggestions. Even the lactation gonsultant st cardinal said to let my breasts heal first so pump or hand express muna

@khriseee Just to answer your question, I think  1-1.5 oz for the first week is a good output. During my time, I was able to express 2 oz. Pedia was surprised because that's actually a lot. She said I was not expected to express that much that early.

khriseeee for sore nipples sis, here's la leche league's article on how to assist in healing it:
http://www.llli.org/faq/heal.html
http://www.llli.org/faq/sore.html

Sis usually kahit sore ang nipples hindi nila pinapatigil mag-breastfeed. kahit may bleeding pa nga pinapatuloy parin nila lalo na first few weeks kasi crucial yun in establishing supply. You may do hand expression pero it takes a lot of skill.

what your breasts need most at this point is consistent stimulation from baby's suckling. without it, baka later on mag decrease supply mo kasi your body will think konti lang kailangan. nothing's more effective in emptying the breast more than your baby. frequency of breast emptying is actually the determining factor ng supply mo. the more frequent it's emptied, the more it will produce. that's why advised na every 2-3 hours magpapalatch kay baby and not let 4 hours passed at night in the first few weeks ha.

sore nipple is common. it could also be because of poor or improper latching or dahil kasi hindi naman sanay ang breast natin na constantly may nagssuck so adjustment period pa. pero ipa latch mo lang ng ipa-latch. eventually mawawala soreness nya.

When I had sore nipples, nakatulong sa akin ang lanolin cream (I used Medela, but I also heard some use Lansinoh).

@sis khriseeee same tayo sa cardinal nanganak. My daughter is now 2 months and 3 weeks old. When i was in the hospital
nakapagpa-latch ako with the help of the lactation nurses in cardinal but when i got home nahirapan talaga ako sa sakit both ng breastfeeding and episiotomy. Hindi pa kasi marunong that time maglatch si baby kaya masakit so nagpump ako. Pumping helped me with engorgement. For me pumping is better than giving up with breastfeeding. We did mixed feeding too kapag super pagod na ako with breastfeeding kasi wala akong yaya. I used tommee tippee bottles. Mga 2 weeks din ako nagpump before going back to latching. After that 2 weeks okay na ang latch ni baby. Ultimately you will know what is best for you.

I too pumped before 6 weeks post partum as i would get stressed about being in the shower and my baby would suddenly cry. So i pumped so my hubby could feed the baby while i was finishing up. We gave the milk through syringe though until he was about 3 weeks, buti he did not have nipple confussion. Maybe because we give him bottle then il have him latch on me afterwards then direct again for the next feeding. I did not give him a bottle consistently when he was younger. Although that backed fired on me kasi for a while he wasnt good at feeding from the bottle. Pero ngayon better na. 1-1.5 oz is a good output. What i do to get a faster let down is to have my baby latch on one side while i pump the other.

Buti ka nga nakaka 1 to 1.5 oz every pump mo. Ako dati less than 1 oz lang every pump so i had to do mixed feeding kasi kulang talaga but i was still able to go back to breastfeeding and increase my supply. Now I can do full breastfeeding pero choice ko lang din to do mixed feeding pa din to avoid stressing myself. Kapag overwhelmed na ako sa pagbreastfeed or nasa labas kami nagbibigay na ako ng formula but i limit it to one or 2 bottles lang per day. Kaya mo yan sis. Do whatever will make you happy and less stressed. The important thing is you are able to give your child breast milk.
