^ Hey sis! Kind of alanganin your times, but anyway, if you intend to go see the Butanding, get a hotel that will put you close to the South Bus Terminal. In this way, you can travel real early to go to Oslob. Take note that whale watching only happens in the morning, so be at Oslob at least by 11am at the latest. After Oslob, you can head back then travel to Mactan to be at Crimson.

hello mga sisters!

i'm going to sinulog this year. i've been wanting to go since forever, and it will be my first time..

but the truth is, i don't know what to expect! ano ba ang mga activities/what should i look out for sa sinulog?

your advices would be greatly appreciated!

also, dahil late ako nakapagbook, mahal na yung air tickets for the sinulog weekend (friday to monday) napilitan ako mag 8 days sa cebu. (wednesday to wednesday) inisip ko to go to bohol na lang before sinulog since isang ferry lang naman sha, but nothing is final yet. if i opt not to go to bohol, what are the things na pwede ko puntahan sa cebu? it's my second time na sa cebu, pero feeling ko di ako mashado nakapag ikot nung unang punta ko. around mactan lang.

Anyway after more research pa naisip ko less hassle for me and my kid kung stay sa Island hotel, then sa city na lang kami. Omg di ko alam na ilang oras pala byahe to go either north or south ng Cebu. Tapos 2 or 3Pm check in kami sa Crimson. Medyo matagal pa naman so pwede pag ipunan. Baka di maenjoy ng anak ko yung mahabang bus ride tapos 30mins lang ang viewing? First ko talaga to mapalayo sa Manila kaya wala ako masyado idea. My kid is turning 10 btw and mas enjoy nya ang pools kesa beach kaya goal ko talaga sa magandang hotel. Gosh im excited. Wag lang talagang sasablay ng bongga ang Cebupac. OK na kaya yun sis? Thanks in advance. Sana start na to ng marami pang travel in the future.

@goddessella - There's a ton that will be happening during the week of Sinulog. Anyway, since WED pa dating me, you won't be able to complete the Novena na, pero if you'd like to attend, there are hourly masses at the Basilica of Sto. Nino. For Sinulog parties, check out Life Dance 2015.. It's an outdoor activity on 16 Jan (FRI), then there's the Fluvial Parade then there's the big Sinulog Parade on the 18th (which is Sinulog exactly)... Then, if you're into the party mood on the 18th, there's Sinulog Invasion, but even if you don't go to Sinulog Invasion, there's so much going on everywhere.

As for the idea of heading to Bohol --- you can, but you have to plan ahead. People from Bohol will also be coming to Cebu, so you better be ready for big crowds at the port for the fastcraft that will take you to and from Bohol. Expect that within the duration of your stay here for Sinulog, there will be so much people traveling in and out of Cebu, so make sure super planned, so you don't get stranded in the wrong place.

@cry_mandy, your trip is still a long time from now. You have tons of time to research and find out what activities are best for you and your kid. As for the travel times going out of town, it does take time indeed. As for Crimson, I am sure your kid will enjoy it there. The rooms are fabulous. The beach is not bad. The pools are nice! The overall feel of Crimson is homey, it's just really someplace that you can't easily leave without arranged transport kasi papasok talaga the area. For whatever it's worth, I am sure you'll have a blast in Cebu --- weather permitting!

oo nga ano? baka mastranded ako sa bohol, cannot be! haha! i might just opt to go to bohol ng monday morning onwards... bahala na si batman. thank you for the advice. at least medyo naliwanagan ako.

is the mactan airport open 24 hours? kasi i have an early flight on the 21st, baka mag camping na lang ako sa airport the night before. haha. sobrang walang plano.

@goddessella, perhaps the moment you get to Cebu, you should book your tickets to and from Bohol after Sinulog, just so it's settled. Kahit pa maraming people, basta may ticket ka na, that should do it. As for the time line, sana di ka mega pagod from Sinulog on the 18th so you can travel agad the next day. As for the airport, it's forever open since there are flights all day and night. You can be there as early as you want so you're ready for the trip.

^ Pleasure's all mine, goddessella. I am sure your sleeping arrangements have all been ironed out and booked, right? And I mean specifically for Cebu. Sinulog turns everything upside down, so best be prepared. Additional things you may want to take with you or prepare for, if you have a sling bag or a waterproof pouch for your phone come Sinulog day, that's super handy! And if you happen to be Catholic and intend to hear mass at the Basilica of Sto. Niño, best to get a schedule of the mass schedules in English... because other schedules are in Cebuano. Finally, if food tripping is also a priority, get ahead and start indulging as early as Wed... because come Friday till Sunday, everything will be full packed. Just post if you have other concerns. I am just stating details on top of my head. Trying to recall the things I wish I knew when I used to be just a tourist for Sinulog. Now that I am now based here, I pretty much got the hang of things.

Should I expect airport traffic/delayed flight sa Sinulog? or do they manage it fairly well?

^ tomatostellar, airport traffic is quite common whenever there's something big going on, like Christmas, New Year and Sinulog is no exception. In fact, just expect that there will be tons of people coming. As for managing it well, okay naman... whenever our cousins & friends come for Sinulog, nothing major naman in terms of delays. Let's hope that your trip turns out to be smooth.

@insanelypurpleprincess thanks. super valuable your advice. okay na my living arrangements. makikitira with relatives ng first two days, and then hotel with cousin and friends ng sinulog weekend. by monday, i will catch a ferry to bohol and back to cebu na ng tuesday. i might try to find a cheap hotel near the airport for tuesday-wednesday kasi early morning my flight ng wednesday. pero bahala na, baka hindi na din ako mag hotel. not sure. hahaha. depende sa pagod level.

goddessella, pleasure's all mine!!! You're super set with the looks of it. Definitely great that you're settled for living arrangements upon arrival. The part where you head back to Cebu from Bohol, you can always decide on it later. Though, if you'd like a place quite near the airport, check out Islands Stay hotel in Mactan.. I heard it's not that expensive and it's very close to the airport. As for the pagod level, I can tell you ahead that you will be.. Sinulog does that to people.. It just gets really wild and crazy eh. Hope you already got your tickets for Life Dance (Fri, 16 JAN), suppose you're going. Then, there's the Sinulog Invasion (requires tickets also, happening on Sun, 18 JAN). I am just basing these suggestions on activities that are usually the "go to places" for those coming for their first ever Sinulog experience.

Usually, there will still be tickets available at the gates, but the cost is usually the actual published rate.
If you purchase kasi before the event itself, it usually comes with a discount of sorts.

There will be a lot street parties on Sunday.  You can check out the Sinulog invasion but it is in smaller venue which is the fooda parking lot near redemptorist church. It's probably be as wild but I miss Baseline.  There's also a nice party at the mango avenue area.

For LifeDance, hopefully the weather will not be that bad this friday as an LPA is threatening the Visayas once again.

I wanna go back to cebu for whale shark encounter in oslob. All year round ba yung whale sharks dun?

also, if from bohol (dumaluan), pwede bang mag boat going to oslob? when i checked kasi the map, nasa southern part ng cebu yung oslob which is kinda close na sa bohol, atleast dun sa mapa  ... malapit lang ba if i-boat? ilang oras byahe?

honeybunny, I can only answer the first question, which is about the schedule for the Whale Shark Encounter --- yes, it's all year round now. The butanding in the area never left na eh, so you can definitely come see them anytime (of course, provided that weather is good and suitable!)

As for the question about Dumaluan and Oslob, no idea.
