Question to Singapore moms and sa mga nagtour na din here with children, safe ba mga hawker food for kids? More than 2 years ako here and so far hinde pa naman ako nafood poision ever, kung san2x ako kumakain 

My pamangkins kasi are coming and their mom (my sis) is looking forward na sa foodtrip, aside sa mga restaurants, she plans to try din sikat na hawker centers. I'm not sure lang kung pati mga kids ipapatry ko kasi i've heard stories na din ng food poison dito sa SG.

Makansutra is a good choice for Hawker. Kaso parang maliit yung space nila dun, hapon kami kumain dun so wala masyadong tao kaso ang init naman at wala pa masyadong pagkain.

btw il be travelling with my parents ha both senior citizen, advice nyo naman ako ano magandang places to tour them yung di masyadong nakakapagod for them but mag-enjoy din naman sila. tia!

mimisim, I'd start with Gardens By the Bay, Merlion, Marina Bay Sands (meron free na light show diyan), Sentosa (maybe cable car ride kung hindi takot sa heights ang mga seniors), Museums. Dinala namin last weekend sa SEA Aquarium ang mother in law ko na 74yrs old at pagod na pagod siya. But it may be worth it to just stroll along Resorts World Sentosa din. Sa restaurant, you can check ladyironchef (search mo sa google) and there's a complete list on resto recommendations from breakfast to dinner/supper.

ficklemind, hindi lahat ng hawker centres ay safe for kids. I'd say mas marerecommend ko ang mga kopitiams sa mall than hawker centres lalo na kung hindi sanay ang tiyan. Three times na akong na-food poison dahil sa pagkain ko sa hawker centre dito.

^sige sis will take note of that places. check ko rin yung mga foods. medyo malakas pa naman parents ko, early 60's pa lang naman kaso pag puro lakad baka di rin nila ma-enjoy eh. what about sa mga hotels? nakita ko kasi sa agoda.com chinatown, bugis & orchard ang selection. saang area kami dapat mag stay? gusto ko sana malapit sa lrt para di hassle sa pag-commute.

Hi Sissies,

Help naman po. We are planning to go to SG on Nov 26-28. kaso wala pa ako nabook na hotel and Itenerary.. hays. We are 3 adults, Mom ko, ako and sister ko.
I looked at asiatravel and nice kasi may kasama na tour and airport transfer na nakalagay dun sa mga hotels. Kaso when I tried to book magiging 2 rooms kami, mahihiwalay yung isa sa amin.
May marerecommend ba kayo hotel for the 3 of us. And kung buy kami ng tickets for Gardens of the Bay and sa Sentosa etc.,. San mas mura at ok bumili? Meron ba sa hotel na lang nag aarrange nun or sa website mismo na lang ako bumili? Thanks po.

ficklemind : mag-5yrs na kami dito. since 2.5yo yung daughter ko, kumakain na kami sa hawkers. so far wala pa namang nangyayari sa amin.   since food tripping for tourists kayo, i would suggest go to reputable hawker centers like Old Airport Rd, Maxwell, etc.  tapos dun kayo bumili sa mga popular stalls. siguro naman they won't compromise on quality kasi may pangalan na silang inaalagaan. i usually visit http://ieatishootipost.sg/ for suggestions on what to eat and where to to ang which stall is good.

naughty_pink : Pede ka naman mag-DIY. basahin mo yung previous thread madami nag-post ng DIY itineraries nila. for tickets, pede ding doon ka na sa venue bumili.  sa sentosa marami silang combo package. check their website.  tingin tingin ka din ng  mga deal sites dito may ilang nag-o-offer din ng combo deals for attractions.  for hotels, i usually recommend YMCA near dhoby ghaut mrt

Re: hawker centers it might be helpful to check their health inspection ratings. Typically each stall would have it displayed somewhere, parang A4 size na paper lang with A, B, or C, with A being the highest. Siguro just steer clear of yung mga C.

Malaysian Food Street at Resorts World Sentosa, outside Universal Studios Singapore and S.E.A Aquarium is an ideal place to sample the different types of Singapore and Malaysia cuisine at once, without having to travel to different places. The serving sizes are very generous as well, making the place extremely value for money!

Food to try: Chicken rice balls, bak kut teh, laksa, nasi lemak and toast.

sis yapeegurl, forgot to thank you pala. noted na yung mga places, nabasa ko sa isang thread daming nagrecommend ng gardens by the bay bale ayusin ko lang itinerary namin then post ko dito if tama yung pagkakasunod-sunod also pala sis, mas ok ba if within chinatown ang kunin kong hotel? tnx ulit in advance!

^^^Sometimes this is not a guarantee that they handle the food following HACCP standards. Madami sami na rin ako nakilalang na food poison sa kakakain sa mga hawker centres dito. When in doubt, yung kopitiam nalang sa mall or Food Republic

^^I've tried Malaysian Food Street when we went to SEA Aquarium and Adventure cove, food is just so-so. I'd say the food at Food Republic is still better...

ficklemind, mas sensitive ang tiyan ng mga bata. Better not risk it. And make sure you let them drink bottled water rin as we all know the water here is different also...

booked a flight via SQ for $210 roundtrip yesterday... end of this month yung travel date ko... so nag hahanap ako ng hotels na hindi naman ganun kamahal < US$100, napansin ko mura yung Geylang area, I know redlight district yun, wala naman akong kasamang kids so ok lang but i'm not sure how bad the area is, kung safe ba, also malapit ba ito sa pasyalan area, ease of commute, near mrt and madami bang bus sa area na ito?

A Singapore hotel below USD 130 is possible with Value Hotel Thomson, Value Hotel Balestier, Venue Hotel, Soluxe Inn, Fragrance Hotel (non-geylang), Hotel 81 (non-geylang), Santa Grand Hotels.

Which date will you be traveling?

I suggest Lavender or Little India area if you are looking for a hotel close to city area, safe and budget friendly.

^^No to Geylang. Sorry but it'll be more expensive for you to commute in this area if ever 'coz you might just end up taking the cab. There are buses around the area but it'll take 40mins at least for you to reach the city and you might just get confused with the bus numbers and routes... Are you alone? You can try the hostels around Chinatown area Or there's one hotel along Orchard called Hotel Supreme, rate is $120-$130 I think. It's just near the Istana...

Thanks traveldelight and GirlCrush... i was checking the rates at agoda mukhang im leaning towards Chinatown/Little India area... mahal nga lang talaga yung hotels sa singapore compared to other places like Manila or US...

By the way I'm flying in 11/28 and leaving Singapore 12/1... i've seen some of the hotels suggested by traveldelight in Agoda, nag aabang lang ako ng flash sale hehe

For those going to SG,  add the following on your food trip.

Lao Ban / Soybean 51 - the silkiest, most delicious cold taho you will ever taste.  Sad to say, even better the one in Pinas.  I, myself, love taho since I was a kid, truly fell for lao ban or Soybean 51.  Soybean 51 is located at basement level of Anchorpoint mall (SGD1.50 per bowl).

Gindaco Takoyaki - Best takoyaki.  Not pancakey but crispy takoyaki on the outside. (S$ 3.60 - 4 pcs, S$ 6.40 - 8 pcs).  Ion Food hall, Orchard rd.

Chocolate Origin's Lava cake - one of the best and cheapest lava cake (S$5.50), Somerset 313, basement
