In fairness magandang contrast ang simpleng buhok ni ariella  sa kulotkulotang effect ng marami.

Re: gown, according to a blog, nagsimula daw yun nung binoycott ng mga pinoy designers ang bb pilipinas nung pinayagan sumali si ruffa kahit late na sya nag-apply. Simula nun, di na kumuha ng pinoy designer si stella araneta.

Congrats to ariella! she did well. I loved her straight jet black shampoo commercial hair, naiba sa ibang finalists. Tama lang ang makeup. Sakto lang sa q & a. And, bad as her gown had been, she was able to pull it off. Kitang kita siya sa canary yellow kahit sa dilim hehe.

Hindi ko rin type ang gown ng Ara. Ang gaganda ng mga gowns ng kasama niya and parang cheap yung tela na ginamit. but i love the color.

sa opinion ko naman, if u look the gown by itself, parang walang wow factor, or siguro parang common dito sa Pinas yung fabric na ginamit, yung tipong makikita mo kahit sa mga JS Prom? Lol, but in all fairness sa kanya she carries herself naman nung suot niya yung gown, i even heard from somewhere na parang lalo daw siya napansin because of the bold color,

Among of the last five candidates, in my opinion Philippines gave the best answer (not being biased here) yun nga lang parang napansin ko, sana tinodo na niya yung self confidence niya, para kasing may pagka timid siya, unang labas niya sa stage talagang mapapa tingin ka, pero pag tagal na ng camera sa kanya, parang medyo mawawalan ka ng ng focus tingnan siya, don't know how to explain it but parang iisa lang yung expression ng face niya or something, yung mga kasama niya sa Top five, parang nag uumapaw ang self confidence nila, yung parang pati ikaw madadala, yung sa kanya, parang habang tumatagal nagiging dry? sorry ha, just my POV

but Nevertheless CONGRATULATIONS sa kanya, ang daming contender this year, pero naka runner up pa rin ang Philippines, another achievement yan sa bansa natin, nabasa ko nga siya lang ang only Asian na napili ng Mercedes Benz na makasali sa commercial at lima lang sila, So still Proud of her

I admit before the pageant talagang medyo alanganin ako sa kanya sa q & a, she's not as eloquent like shamcey or janine, but she did very well.
Kahit 3rd runner up lang, i'm really proud of our kababayan

I think our Miss Philippines did very well during the Q & A. Her diction may not be as refined as her predecessors but I think she nailed the answer. It was spot on. No beating around the bush. Yung ibang finalists ganun ang ginawa but they just seemed more confident. Ara was also the only one among the five without an interpreter.

The only negative observation I have about her is that she seemed a bit stiff on stage. Parang cold yung personality nya. Yung ibang candidates emote na emote. Panay execute ng iba ibang poses. Si Ara simple lang. She just stood with her hands on her side.

Overall, she did a pretty good job and we should all be proud of her. Congratulations!!

She is pretty, her hair is beautiful kahit bagsak lang. Pero in pageants like this, kelangan "big" ang hair mo or nakataas/pusod.  Kahit pa bagsak na walang kulot at the least, dapat may waves.  Parang wala pa ako na encounter na Ms U, at least for the last 10 years na bagsak lang ang hair on the coronation night.

I knew from the start na she will place in the top 5.
Di nga ako nagkamali!

I saw the judges score, she is number 1 sa swimsuit round.
But pagdating sa evening gown, she is 9th place.
Buti na lang composite yung score ng swimsuit at EG kaya nakapasok
sya sa top 5, pang 5th sya..

See MAdam Stella Araneta! muntik ng di pumasok si ara sa top 5,
kung di ginawang average score yun swimsuit at EG just like the previous years

Agree, Oxana is the most beautiful Ms U winner for me. Mala-Dyosa talaga ang kagandahan.

For me, it's not the gown or the hair.  It's how she carried herself.  She was beautiful, poised, elegant (huwag lang magsalita kasi there is something really off with her diction) and all that.  However, she was too stiff and her personality did not shine through.  Actually, she did not seem likeable and I, for one, secretly rooted for Miss Spain (kung di rin lang mananalo si Ara, which I realized sometime during the swimsuit portion).  Other Miss Universe winners, such as Riyo Mori (Miss Universe 2007, who I think also wore her hair long and straight during the pageant but I saw photos na may waves ng konti ang hair niya) and Olivia Culpo, last year's winner, have big, larger than life, sunny personalities that make you want to know them. Since Miss Universe is a goodwill ambassador, charisma is a key factor.

Last year, I was heartbroken when our representative, Janine, lost.  But when I saw Olivia during this year's Miss U telecast, I got convinced that she was the right choice.
