Any IUGR mommies here?

Hi mommies,

Just wondering if there are any IUGR mommies around? Share naman your experience in how you found out your baby is IUGR, how were you able to take care of your little ones? And how they are doing now. I know IUGR babies are different from Preemie babies, but they are usually being mistaken as preemies.

I have a 10months old IUGR baby who was born 36weeks and 2days and weight 1.3kilos. His IUGR was due to his 2-vessel cord, but part of his cord (My OB said) is 1-vessel. He's doing ok naman, active baby. But he's a multiple anomaly baby due to the rubella virus I was infected during my pregnancy.

Gaining weight is such a challenge for IUGR babies. Also, their growth curve is different from preemie babies. Kahit ngayon, my son is really small for his age. It's also due to his heart defect. But it does not stop him from smiling and laughing naman. :)

How are you IUGR mommies?

hello! iugr mom here. :)

i gave birth to my baby boy at 33 weeks and he was 1.4 kg.

may autoimmune problem ako when i was pregnant (like apas but a different category). so ang nangyayari was there was thickening of blood vessels in the placenta and yung nutrients going to the baby was kulang.

he's 7 months now and doing quite well. he's still small for his actual age, pero by his 6th month pumasok na kami sa normal range pero slightly above 5th percentile pa lang. but sa adjusted age nya (since preemie sya), normal na normal na kami for both height and weight.

nagstay din kayo sa NICU before umuwi? what was your baby's weight na when you brought him/her home? :) i brought my boy home a little short if 2 kilos grabe parang kuting! when i look back now, nagtataka din ako pano ko naalagaan yung ganun kaliit na baby! :)

OH MY! Sis, so sorry ngayon lang ako naka balik and checked my posts.

Wow, happy for your little man. Don't worry much about his size, he is growing in his pace, and remember that he has a different journey.

Preemie and IUGR din baby ko. He's 14months old now, and still small since he is a multiple anomaly baby caused by Rubella (german measles). He has 2 holes in his heart. born deaf, also with cataracts but he undergone surgery last Dec. to remove his cataracts.

Yes, he did stay in the NICU. Actually, he was whisked away from me as they rushed him to the NICU. The good thing is, he was able to breathe on his own. He stayed there at 2weeks and 3days. Came home at around 1.7kilos I think. He was so small too, we were so scared to hold him. Yes, it's really amazing to look back and know how small they were back then.

hi sis! grabe ngayon lang ulit ako nakabalik. hehe. how are you and your baby?

yeah, kanya kanyang pace talaga ang babies. he's now 14 months and still slighty underweight pero nakacatchup na sa height. medyo delayed nga lang sa paglalakad pero otherwise everyhing's ok.

i hope you're also doing well :)

i didn't know that there is an existing thread for IUGR babies. IUGR mom din ako. our case naman is different because up to now, daughter is almost 2 yrs old, hindi pa rin kami nakaka-catchup :(

1.9 kg siya nung pinanganak, full term, and i had no issues during my pregnancy except she wasn't growing. dami ng tests ang ginawa sa kanya but all came back normal. now, waiting na lang kami ng appointment to see a geneticist.

she's turning 2 yrs old by next month and nasa 7kg lang kami, 67 cm height. she started walking on her 17th month. she's not talking yet and her 4th teeth is just cutting now. and super hirap painumin ng milk. though she eats naman. she looks fine actually. but i do hope, we can find out soon why she's not growing.

sana tuluy tuloy ng maka-catch up ang babies nyo :)
