Help! My toddler refuses to brush her teeth

I find it very challenging to brush my almost-2-years toddler's teeth, di na gumagana ang bolohan, huhu, hilig pa naman niya sa sweet foods lately. Help! How do i address this?

you can show your toddler that you are brushing your teeth also. pwede rin kayo sing.

what i do, sa harap ng salamin ko sya binabrush ng teeth para nakikita nya sarili nya.

pareho tayo sis, ako baby ko 1 yr and 4 mos pero halos kumpleto na set of teeth niya. And talagang ang hirap ibrush kasi kinakagat niya lang toothbrush and piglas ng piglas. Problema ko pa habang natutulog siya sa gabi dumedede pa din siya. Malakas din daw makasira ng ngipin un. Kaya ginagawa ko na lang before siya matulog sa gabi, nililinis ko na lang ng cotton balls [textspeak!] mga teeth niya.

Hay problema ko din sa pagtoothbrush itong 15 mos old na baby ko. Paiyakan kami everytime na magbrush ng teeth. Pag brush kami ni hubby pinakikita namin sa kanya pero no effect, kaya may mga araw na hindi ko na sya brush ano kaya pwede gawin para magcooperate sya?

My god this is also my problem..

my son is 16months old na pero apat palang ngipin nya (2 sa taas at 2 sa baba) 10months sya nag start mag ka teeth  after nung apat lumabas hindi na nasundan, ang tagal..

nung una pinupunasan ko lang ng lampin kaso yung pinakataas di natatangalan ng tartar from milk. may stains na nga..then i bought toothbrush..nung una sabay kami mag brush, minsan naman kinakanta ko yung commercial ng COLGATE na brush brush three times a day pero ngaun wa epek na tapos nung minsang pinuwersa ko [textspeak!] dumugo naman [textspeak!] gilagid nya..and now i really dont know what to do..

problem ko din ito before pero ngayon hindi na kasi si baby na nagsasabi sa akin na mommy tootbrush..    2 yrs. & 3 months na sya, ganito ginawa ko..

1) binili ko sya ng toothbrush na parang may bell sa loob para habang nag-toothbrush tumutunog sya, nalilibang si baby sa tunog.
2) Habang nag-toothbrush kami ni Hubby pinapakita namin sa kanya tapos kunwari i-totoothbrush ko sya
3)kapag pinapaliguan ko sya sasabihin ko sa kanya baby toothbrush ka na tapos sabay kakantahin ko yung sa commercial ng colgate na brush brush brush then ipapahawak ko yung toothbrush sa kanya pag nakakuha na ako ng tyempo kunin ko yung toothbrush sa kanya sabihin ko o si mommy naman hah!? sabihin mo "teeth" pag sinabi nya yun presto! i-totoothbrush ko sya kagad.. hehe...

same problem as you guys. hirap talaga. she usually cries pa. pero sapilitan, kailangan eh. these days, there are still some tears but not as much as before. in my eyes, that's progress. I really look forward to the day na hindi na difficult ang toothbrushing. my baby is 22 months old.

Try buying her those toothbrushes na umiilaw, it might help. When my daughter was at that age, iyakan kame palage talaga. Pero kelangan pilitin kahit na nagiging stressful na samin pareho. Then I started brushing my teeth together with her and I showed her na parang I enjoyed brushing my teeth na kasabay sya, matching patawa tawa pa kame. Ayun, nasanay din sya.

what worked for us is i let her brush her teeth and my teeth. after nun, turn ko naman to brush her teeth and my teeth.

First of all, don't give your baby anything sweet. They still drink milk and that has all the sugar they need. Unless gusto mo sya magka sweet tooth, which can make your baby obese or diabetic. Remember, your baby is the formative years. What you do to your baby today will set him for the rest of his life...

As for brushing teeth, try swabs. You can go to baby sections in the mall.. sansoft ata name nun... they have swabs... pero parang para sa mga infants yun, but it does help preventing decays.

but with my 2-year old... when she is beng bratty with her yaya, i take the toothbrush and say, o mommy nalang... if that doesnt still work, daddy will take over. mas takot sya and mas responsive kay daddy nya. Okay na trick din yun... "look at mommy!" kase you have to have eye contact para mafocus sya sa sinasabi mo.

ganun din sa akin..hinaharap ko siya sa salamin..okay naman siya..and nasanay na lang din siya kaya kahit hindi nakaharap sa salamin..nakakabrush kami ng teeth niya. Siguro nakatulong din sa amin na maaga kami nagstart magbrush ng teeth niya (siguro he was about 8 months when we started and he's 20 months now, so far walang problem sa pag brush ng teeth)

try to brush teeth together with your kids. Minsan yung son ko lazy mag toothbrush. ang ginagawa ko nire-remind ko siya dun sa wansapanatym na napanood namin tungkol sa bata na di nagbrush ng teeth tas nag walk yung teeth nung kid after nun sipagin na siya ulet mag brush. LOL

para paraan. what ever works para lang ma brush teeth ng bata.

you can use elec toothbrush with disney characters or hello kitty. or yung umiilaw.
buy elmo/sesame street videos that teach enjoyable brushing
brush your teeth with him/her
put up an inflatable pool then while the kid is enjoying take time to brush her teeth
one thing that works for me din is showing my daughter photos ng kids na may sirang teeth. google images. she doesnt want that to happen to her so she obliged. 

and since pahirapan na mag brush ng teeth, BAWAL ang candies/chocs. drink lots of water after mag dede or drinking juices.

ako dinala ko na sa pedia dentist, kasi meron na yellow stains yung 2 front teeth nya. torture pa rin sa kanya ang toothbrush time, pero para sa kanya pa rin yun.  Cleaning and fluoride yung nilagay sa teeth nya after cleaning kasi meron na damage yung 2 front teeth. sabi pedia dentist, kapag nasira ang teeth ni baby, 6 years old pa lalabas yung permanent teeth. 2 years old palang ang aming baby twilight.

I wanted to revive this topic because i think it's important for mommies to start "brushing" their babies' teeth as early as possible. With my baby, it started sa tooth wipes lang, then i bought one of those brushes that you put your finger in tapos ipapasok sa bibig ni baby. Now that my son has almost all of his teeth (he's turning two in a few months), he expects na that after having his meal, he will be brushing his teeth!

He enjoys his toothbrushing time, what I did was to buy 2 toothbrushes, I give him one to play with, he puts it in his mouth and chews on it. The other I put the baby toothpaste on, and that's the one I use to brush his teeth with. Sabay kanta ako at si yaya ng made up song ko about tooth brushing.

I can say that he likes to brush his teeth, and even if he's not supposed to be brushing his teeth, gusto nyang kunin ang toothbrush to put in his mouth!
