European Tours Thread 4

We will spend a week in Rome with a fixed tour already (June 11-16).

But since the available general audience is on the following week pa on a wed (june22) and our KLM return ticket requires us to fly out from Rome (thu, June 23) so balik Rome kami from Paris on a tues, June 21.

I want to spend overnight in the romantic venice and go shopping in Florence.  Of course, I want to see paris.

I'm still consolidating my questions for the Italy and Paris DIY.

Actually, I'm not looking forward to bringing our 20kg trolley and 7kg handcarry trolley each sa amin ni hubby. I don't know if we could downsize pa coz 2wks trip.

^Overnight in Venice is okay but I think super bilis nyo sa Florence. Do you plan to visit museums or just walk the streets? Also Paris, super bitin alloted time nyo coz its really a beautiful city:)

I don't know where to post this but dito na lang. It's a general question about weather. Lol. I'm traveling to Europe for 2 weeks and staying in Strasbourg. It says average is 17deg. I don't know about "Baguio weather" kasi I've been there matagal na lol! What would you normally wear, sisses? long sleeves + jacket?

Also plan to visit Mt. Rigi for the weekend, yun sure ako malamig. Haha. Then on most days I should be wearing office clothes for my training. Unfortunately, di ko ata keri mag-dress in that weather(?). Or is 17deg manageable?

^Painit na by the time you arrive in Strasbourg. Grabe yung init na rin in Paris and Toulouse where I am right now. As expected cooler during the early hours of the day so just bring a light jacket or sweater. But as the day goes on temperature ranges from 21-27C. Bring sunblock!

Just be sure to check the weather before you leave to be guided on what clothes to bring. But yeah it is the summer season.

^Oo nga mama squeak. I check IG posts #luzern and #strasbourg every night, at summer na summer na nga doon. Sa Strasbourg, one time natiyempuhan ko na 28deg ang temp. Funny kasi napapa-unpack ako at pinapalitan ko ang mga damit na naka-pack na.

Ang worry ko is pag biglang umulan, pero mukhang that's the least of my concerns if I have an umbrella naman.

Leaving Sat night na pala. So far ang problema ko na lang is what jacket to bring, I just realized kasi yung jackets/coats namin eh pang-winter lang talaga or pang-rainy season in PH. Lol

^yup, it's shorts and tank top weather talaga. Ako din I brought a portable umbrella kasi meron forecast of showers in the coming days sa pupuntahan namin. Parang Manila weather lang din without the humidity. Try not to overpack for sure you'll be needing the space for your shopping/pasalubongs. Enjoy and have a safe trip!

anyway, can you give me a draft ITI on what countries can I visit for 14days? can I visit them by trains or planes..

^Is it your first time sis? If so, then I suggest you stick to the most iconic cities  if you have 14 Days:
Paris, Rome, Florence, Venice is most basic.

Paris- 4N  recommened/3N Minimum
Lucerne-2N
Venice- 2N
Florence-2N
Rome- 4N recommended /3N minimum

Add on: Amsterdam 2N if you stay in Rome and Paris for only 3N--- but I don't recommend this because there is so much to see.

If you have 3 weeks-- you can add Salzburg, Munich, Barcelona (not a fave of mine), Brussels (not a fave too) and Bruges (love!)

my sister and I are going on a 14 day cruise to Europe in Sept 2016.  pre-cruise we're staying in London for 4 days.  in one of those days, i'm thinking we can do a day trip to Paris via Eurostar.  has anybody done this, a DIY day trip to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and Le Louvre.  we will be hitting most of the Euro highlights in Barcelona, Rome, Florence, etc, as our ports of call, but not Paris.  i figured since we're already there, maybe we can on our own hop on the train and see the sights.  i am also considering booking thru a tours company for less hassle and to skip long lines.
any detailed suggestions on how to do this will be greatly appreciated.  tia

^yes it can be done only if you have no plans to linger long in each of the sites you mentioned. Just make sure your UK visa is multiple entry so you can go back to London.

^^ tys.. me and my friends have done that before on a whim.. but we've already seen the sights before thus we were not that really keen.  We went on a daytrip for coffee. But that was when I still lived in London. Tips -  be on the Eurostar at least 30 minutes early.  They do a mini check same as in the airport.  We've actually missed our train before. Good thing it was off peak season, and the next train was not full, plus the attendant was nice so we were ablento get on the next one.  If you're going for sight seeing, you might want to get the earliest train sched.  I believe it's just before 6 am.  Travel time is about 2 hours 30 give or take and Paris is 1 hour ahead of the UK.   You're destination will be Gare du Nord which  exits onto loads of train lines so transport won't be a problem. They also have reasonable train times and lines.  Personally I wouldn't recommend going inside the Louvre nor any museum as it takes time out of your already hectic sched.   If you will only be there for a few hours, might as well plan the 5 things you would want to see.   Best of luck

^thanks miss! yes not planning on going inside, we'll be seeing enough museums and cathedrals and ruins from our ports of call, just seeing the louvre from the outside should be enough. we'll just go there to while away some time. if we do the day trip, we plan on taking the earliest train I believe is 530am.  I'm just hoping that there will be big signs in English to get to those 3 places. and I don't think we'll be staying long, just as soon as we breathe in the Paris air, we'll head on back.
