just got back from the US and recently faced the immigration officers at Newark. Mga one word answers lang binigay ko and if its answerable by yes or no, yes or no lang din sagot.

IO: are you here for business or pleasure
me: pleasure
IO: how long are you staying?
me: 9 days
IO: where are you going?
me: Raleigh and Philadelphia

and so on.

Napansin ko na okay na ang immigration officers sa NAIA Terminal 3, mga bata na sila so less tanong na.

^my experience most of the time walang tanong. Tatak lang ng tatak sa passport.

Sis Astraea, first time ko mag out of the country 4 years ago yata and sa NAIA 1 ako, hindi naman ako hinanapan ng ITR in fact, hindi nga ako tinanong ng kahet ano, tatak lang agad.

freelancer ako, di na ako hinanapan ng ITR, may visa naman kasi ako, I just presented my docs and invitation letter. This is in terminal 3.

Hi! We got our tourist visas from Dubai but we both got wrong professions written as Businesswoman and Salesperson. Will this be a problem when we exit our country since we have to pass through the Immigration Officers here? Also I work freelance and I have my own blog, what will I present to them? The thing is currently I have no projects so basically yung blog ko lang. My mom and I are going to Dubai as tourists for 12 days. My mom is already retired. Thanks!

It will be my first time to travel outside PH in March 2015 with no work.  I'm a sahm at the moment and just busy taking care of my 2 little boys. Does this pose any issue with IOs? Well, I hope not.  I see no reason why it will.. In any case, Meron ba naka-experience na sis here in GT na hindi pina-Alis dahil walang work?

^ I guess if you'll be travelling as a family (with husband and kids), walang magiging issue. Most likely wala ng tanong-tanong yan. But if you'll be travelling alone, baka dun matanong ka.. so just be ready.

Sa mga freelancers who travel alone, what was your experience in dealing with IOs? What to present?

^Is it your first time to travel? Do you have travel history already? 

If yes, then just present them with return ticket (if not OFW), pocket money, hotel reservations or address of the person you are staying with and you'll be fine.

I've traveled to Hong Kong and Singapore when I was still single and working from home, never naman ako hiningan ng COE or any proof of income. I was with my then boyfriend, who's my husband now. Concerned lang ako sa sister ko. We'll be going to Hong Kong this year with my son, husband, my sister, her friend and her kid and our yaya. My sister is married but separated na (not legally), her kid who'll be with us is with a different man, meaning not her husband. Her name when she applies for a passport is her married name, she has a different last name kasi with her kid and he's only 6 or 7 years old. Okay na ba na birth certificate lang dalhin niya for her kid? As a proof na she really is the mother of the child? She also works from home and this is the first time she'll be traveling abroad after more than a decade. Regarding bringing a yaya in Hong Kong, mahirap ba kapag humarap kami sa IO?

^feeling ko sis birth certificate is enough na. I went to HK last September. Iba yung surname ng son ko kasi he's using his father's last name. We're not married kasi. Hindi naman ako ni question or hiningian ng papers sa IO dito and sa HK.

^^sis, I suggest get in touch with DSWD baka need din ng travel clearance since iba yung surname ng bata sa mother's passport or with any of the travelling party. Para lang din hindi kayo ma-hassle on the day of your departure. Here's the link to DSWD.

How about sa London IO's mga sis? mahigpit ba sila? I might go there next year to visit my sister. I will be bringing my 3 year old son.

any bad experience with IO in Singapore?

^ok naman IO sa SG. may naexperience ako na medyo mahigpit na IO sa SG dahil naiwala ko departure card. pinagalitan ako ng IO. ilan beses ako nag sorry hanggang sa nainis na din ako kasi sobra na talaga parang ayaw niya tanggapin sorry ko. sinabi ko sa kanya na nagtravel kami ng friend ko sa kl so baka nawala ko dahil ilan beses ko nilabas passport ko kung saan nakaipit dep card ko. ayun nirelease ako pero sinabi next time huwag mo iwawala.
