Will be visiting BKK for the first time this May. Will now do my BR.

Quick question lang baka me marereco kayo na hostel near train station na mga 1k/night. Thanks! But if none, BR-ing will do.

sis mama squeak, naka based ka ba sa bkk? ano thai food marecommend mo bukod sa pad thai  pls? and kung saan street sya makita, street food lang sis. Masyado akong na overwhelmed sa mga na research kong thai food, walang tumatak sa isip ko hahaha! TIA

This weekend na alis namin though sa March 31 pa dating namin sa BKK.  Okay din kaya na derecho na kami ng Chocoville from Don Muaeng Airport? I read from TA kasi na from Lad Prao mrt pwede na mag taxi papuntang chocoville.

^no sis, lagi lang akong sumasama sa hubby ko every time he goes to Bangkok for work.

Street food is everywhere in Bangkok. I'm sure meron yan sa area ng hotel nyo. Mga typical Thai food aside from pad thai would be their spicy tom yum soup, fried noodles with meat, fried catfish (favorite namin ito), spicy papaya salad, etc. They also have mu palo it's like our adobo na meron kasama na boiled egg. For merienda or dessert yung popular na mango sticky rice, khanom tako (coconut pudding) or their appetizer na ma haw (pineapple with pork).

If you have time and you're planning to go to Chatuchak on the weekend, you can drop by Or Tor Kor market (across Chatuchak). It's a fresh food market popular with the locals. They are open daily. Dito kami lagi pumupunta ni hubby for our durian fix plus dun na rin kami mag lunch. Dito ang daming local cooked food and their servings are big ha. Try nyo rin yung mga fresh juices nila like chrysanthemum tea (our all-time favorite), sugar cane juice, passion fruit. Ginutom ako bigla!

Thanks for the recommendations mama squeak! Hindi kami aabot ng weekend eh, pero isasama ko sa iti namin yan Or Tor Kor market since open naman sya daily, convenient bang pumunta dito kahit may dalang backpack? Ituturo mo lang ba sa tindera kapag oorder? 

San ba mas maganda mamimili  pratunam night market or sa chatuchak?

^If you're bringing heavy stuff with you, better take the BTS to Mo Chit then transfer ka ng MTR to Kamphaeng Phet para hindi malayo lakad nyo. Yup, turo-turo style dun.

Mas malaki ang Chatuchak pero hindi naman kayo aabot ng weekend kamo? These are some of the night markets you can visit aside from Pratunam:

Asiatique (open daily from 5PM to way past midnight) - medyo sosyalin lang ng konti dito so expect prices to be a little bit high compared to the other regular markets.

Siam night market (open from Tuesday to Sunday from 5PM to way past midnight) - tapat lang ito ng Siam Paragon/Center/Discovery all the way to MBK.

Talat Rod Fai (plaza open Tuesday to Sunday from 5PM to way past midnight while the small stalls are open Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun) - medyo malayo lang ito from downtown but worth it. Take the BTS to On Nut then a 15-minute taxi ride.

Lahat sila meron mga street food stalls pero pinakamaraming choices sa Talat Rod Fai. Mas enjoy din kami ni hubby sa Talat Rod Fai.

^Yup, the permanent shops open Tuesday to Sunday from 5PM onwards. Yung mga small stalls/food stalls na sini-set up sa plaza ang open every Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun lang.

By the way I just found out na Talat Rod Fai just opened another branch nearer downtown. It's smaller daw than the first one but more accessible to the BTS/MTR. Puntahan ko to on my next trip to Bangkok and update this thread.

Noted sis! Re:  Or Tor Market pala sis, 'yong kainan ba don food court type or nasa tabi tabi lang? We plan kasi paglabas namin ng airport dito na kami mag lunch since mag mrt (chatuchak) naman kami papunta hostel. Yong kainan ba super looban pa ng market? Pwedeng paki sketch sis? Please? Thanks!

^Yup, all the stalls are under one roof lang. No worries maliit lang yung market so makikita mo agad yung pinaka-food court nila. Here's a link to help you.

Oh so galing kayo ng airport to Or Tor Kor? There are two ways to get there:

Option 1

Take airport express train all the way to Phaya Thai (THB45) then transfer kayo ng BTS. BTS to Mo Chit (THB34). Transfer to MRT direction Bang Sue and get off at Kamphaeng Phet (THB16). Take exit no. 3 (Marketing Organization for Farmers).

Option 2

Take airport express train and get off at Makkasan (not sure how much but it should be cheaper than Phaya Thai). Transfer to MRT Petchaburi station direction Bang Sue and get off at Kamphaeng Phet (THB35). Take exit no. 3 (Marketing Organization for Farmers).

Take note mo lang sis yung exit mo sa Kamphaeng Phet since you'll not find any sign for Or Tor Kor since that's the Thai name for the Marketing Organization for Farmers.

From Arnoma Hotel which is just across central world paano ba makakapunta sa chatuchak weekend market? Mga ilang minutes aabutin?

Saan ba located sa airport yung binibilhan nang DTAC Sim? bukas kaya yun around midnight pagdating namin?

We're here na sa bkk. sadly, last day na namin tomorrow. Nakakapagod ang init dito so after ng morning tour namin bumabalik muna kami ng homestay then rest, mga 6pm na kami ulit lumalabas. Baiyoke sky tower, grand palace and [textspeak!] pho and pratunam night pa lang napuntahan namin.

Open kaya ng morning ang chocoville, kahit yong park lang? Sana may makasagot.

Sis mama squeak, sa or tor market kami nag lunch pagdating namin ng airport. mabilis lang pala sya makita. tapos thursday to sunday pa pala open ng mga shop and food stall sa train market. Pumunta kami kanina halos sarado lahat, good thing meron pa rin mga street foods malapit sa seacon square, sayang gusto ko pa naman makita yong mga vintage shops.

^I know! Grabe init lang talaga pero enjoy di ba? Re Talad Rod Fai, so hindi pa pala updated yung opening hours sa website nila. We were there on a Saturday night and some shops were also closed pero andaming food stalls na naka set-up sa plaza. Maganda lang location nya since it's right by Seacon Square Mall.

I'm hoping to go back next month. Check out ko yung isang branch nila na mas malapit sa downtown.

Ok rin to go shopping in Khao San Road got a lot of denim shorts for 100 baht. hehe!

Ok rin yung padthai dun sold sa streets. Sarap!!! Nabitin ako sa vacation namin last Holy Week huhu

I recommend Royal View Resort Hotel in Pratunam. Maganda sya and we got a great deal in Agoda. Mabait din staff nila. Food sa breakfast buffet is ok rin!

^ Royal View is not exactly in Pratunam di ba? That's near Victory Monument BTS. But i do agree, i like it there. Mura lang room rates and accessible pa din. And ok din ang breakfast spread. Ok din ang massage dun sa spa. Stayed there 3x. The first time was solo ako. Nung other two times e with different sets of friends (per my suggestion).

And another thing na gusto ko dun e malapit sa King Power Duty Free. I like doing my Duty Free shopping kasi sa downtown para di ko kelangan maaga sa airport.

It's been two weeks since we're back from BKK. Gusto ko na ulit bumalik, haha! Ang daming hindi nasunod sa iti namin, hindi kinaya ng powers namin ang init sa BKK nagkataon pa na dumating si period, hay!

We stayed at Evan's Homestay through Airbnb, sa Sathorn Road lang. Nagustuhan namin dito kasi super cheap, tahimik yong area at 10 minutes walking distance lang sa Lumphini MRT. For 3 days 1,700/room lang and accommodation namin sulit na sulit na super bilis pa ng wifi. Mas nag enjoy kami sa streetfoods, haha! kada may makikita kaming food cart sa daan malapit sa homestay namin chinecheck namin. At totoo ngang ang mura ng mga pagkain sa terminal 21, super nag enjoy kami dito!

Sumakay din kami ng MRT & BTS nila. Nakakalungkot lang walang sinabi ang MRT at LRT natin dito. Super discipline pa ng mga tao. Na try  din namin mag tuktuk though short ride lang papuntang Jim Thompson. Meron din sila yong motorcyle ride, 15-30baht ang singil.

Hindi naman kami masyadong nag enjoy sa Grand Palace, super dami pa ng tourists, mostly group tours. Hindi na namin ginawang libutin buong Palace. Nakakapagod ang init.

Babalik kami  pero hindi na siguro summer season.

Eto yung nakita kong sequence pag temple tour sa Grand Palace

Grand Palace
W.at Phra Kaew (walking distance to Grand Palace)
W.at Pho
W.at Arun (ferry sa Chao Phrya River)

Hihingi po sana ako ng detailed instruction how to go around these places. Paano pupunta from one temple to another. Baka kase malito kame kahit walking distance lang sila.

^ Grand Palace and W.at Phra Kaew is basically within the same compound. So when you go inside, madadaanan mo na pareho, just follow the direction taken by most people kasi medyo me prescribed path naman sila.

Paglabas ng Grand Palace, labas ng main gate, walk either to the left or to the right, basta walk around the white fence of the compound. Sa me likod nung Grand Palace main entrance, andun yung entrance pa-W.at Pho. Don't listen to touts saying na sarado ang temple and sila na lang magtotour sa inyo.

From W.at Pho, walk to the left towards the pier/boat station. Me madadaanan open market towards the pier. Sa halos tapat lang yung W.at Arun so just take the boat that will cross the river. After W.at Arun, just take the boat to cross again to the main boat station.

Tip rin pala pag pumasok ka na sa grand palace kailangan hindi ka gutom kasi walang kainan sa loob and once na lumabas ka hindi ka na makakabalik.

Kami kasi nung pumasok kami hindi pa kami nag lunch thinking na may makakainan sa loob so nang nagutom kami naghanap kami nang makakainan wala naman pala sa loob kaya lumabas na lang kami kasi gutom na talaga kami kaya hindi namin nalibot yung place. Ang init init din so bring water.

Yan talaga ang problem ko, how to get from one place to another. Wala pa naman ako sense of direction talaga.

Another question po, we'll be staying sa bangkok city hotel. Nag email na kame sa kanila pero wala pang sagot. Para dun sa mga nakapag stay na dun, meron ba sila Airport Transfer?

And how do i get to Grand Palace from Bangkok City Hotel naman?

And yung boat na tatawid papuntang W.at Pho madami ba yon? I mean hindi ba nakakalito kung anong boat ang sasakyan don?

To Grand Palace:

Take the BTS to Saphan Thaksin station, walk to pier, take a boat that stops at Ta Chang station number 9 (N9), walk to grand palace.
