^sa akin not necessarily. yung bids ko would usually depend sa difficulty ng job and nakakakuha naman ako kahit na hindi sobrang liit yung rate. yun lang karamihan naman ng nakukuha kong offer is for full time, which i can't do.

hi gcarrie,

here are some tips you may want to try.

1. Decide how many hours would you like to spend per week? If you have full time job I guess, the
maximum no. of hours you can do per week is around 10 to 15 hours per week.

2. Decide how many hours you want to spend each day and what is your working hours/day that you need   to work. Let us say, you only have 10 hours per week, 2 hours per day and would want to work between 8 to 10 pm.

3. Set a goal on how much you want to earn per week. Siguro for a start you can base your rate on your current  rate for the full time job. If you are very confident that you have great skills and knowledge, and that you can add value for the client, go for higher rate .

4. Make use of whatever work experience you have when applying, it should not necessarily be on data entry project kasi super crowded na yan. Let us say, now, yung job mo is on accounting, then apply ka for that projects.

5. Now that you are clear with your goals and schedule, apply for jobs that suits to what you have identified.

6. Job Application

   - Yes you will need a cover letter. Impress your client with the cover letter and direct to the point.

Clients will look for 2 answers : can you identify his problem and how can you resolve his problem
You need to be proactive on everything.

7.  Interview

   - Yes, if shortlisted ka you. Interview is normally done through skype chat or voice call or minsan pa you will be required for a voice call.

Lastly, you should ask yourself, how far would you like to go with this Odesk jobs? Kung gusto mo i career, go for it and be patient and embrace the hardship you may experience. It's not an easy one but it is very much fulfilling especially  if you are a mom...

Hope this helps :) .

^Sis, I never heard of that job before, pero parang nakakatakot nga kasi baka macompromise yung facebook account mo. Siguro sis, you can also check muna yung previous feedbacks ng client mo kung meron kasi it can give you a picture about your client.

@ dainejen, possible naman yan and one of the possible reason for that is they may need subscribers to join their website, pwede rin as "paid testimonials" or "paid reviews" to claim na ganito yung services nila.. and even to make a buzz about the business.

It can be right it can be wrong, it depends on how you view things, kasi people naman have different perspective di ba. You can check sa profile ni client if good reviews sya then you will know na somehow paying client sya.  But again you have to check what is your personal stand.

For example sa akin, I follow some guidelines when choosing the projects, if it is against what I believe and principles in life, I will not go for it. Meron projects like promoting adult websites, pag ganyan since I am not comfortable with it, I don't go for it. Meron din ako na encounter na ang task is manipulate yung data, to show na ganito yung income nila which is hindi naman totoo, so I do not go for it.

Heto pa ang mas matindi, show me your  xxxxx and I will pay you this amount, or take a picture of xxxxx and get this amount. Meron yan madami din sa Odesk...

So if you don't like or have doubts, don't waste your time on it :)

^i suggest na wag ka na magwork using oDesk tools.
Send them a message either tell them the truth or white lie ika nga. :D

@ dainejen, there are 2 ways

1. Tell the truth and face the consequence.  Once the contract started, the ratings will take effect on the profile, kasi may option asking  why you end the contract. Pero there are clients naman na understanding, so they can choose this option na "will no longer need this job completed"

2.  You don't have the choice but to continue the project.

When you decide things always consider the values/principles you live by. In this case nakataya yung Integrity mo :) Integrity in the sense that kung ano sinabi mo gawin mo sya. With the online world, Integrity is a very important thing that we need follow because out of this you gain the trust from clients. The client accepted you because he believes in you, he sees something from you and he takes time to consider it. Gaano man kaliit yan, always see the value.

The most important thing also whatever you choose, learn something from it.

By the way, bakit nga pala hindi mo magawa yung job? Is it something na hindi mo talaga alam or you just don't feel doing it?

Lately i am having a hard time getting a job on Odesk. Kung meron man, the rates are so low considering 7 years na ako nagOodesk and good feedback na rin.

@ dainejen, glad you did it :) . Make the most out of it, always build relationship  and take care of your client. Do not forget to always learn something.

@ snix, yes it's reality talaga. 6 years na rin me but this year, twice na rin me nawalan ng project and waited for 3 long weeks bago ulit nagkaroon ng bagong projects.

I played around with my rate, and half the difference of my standard rate so I can still have projects, at least meron income.

dainejen, never end a review when you are angry, or any under emotion, dapat cool ka lang.. and always give your client the benefit of doubt pero syempre depende rin yan case to case.

Aba'y mag 3 months na hindi pa rin ako binayaran..but I never said anything wrong, I just waited and waited...and mga 3 months na nga, nagulat na lang ako at nagbayad na sya at binigyan pa ako n bonus...and nag offer sya ng another project...

Hi mga sis!

I got an email from oDesk today saying that they will raise the minimum hourly rate to $3 starting November 15.  But the ones who are currently working below that rate (with an existing client) will not be affected.  It's only for new hires.  But it's still good news.  :D
