super flexi yung sched ko. typically i start my day at 9am then morning routine (bath and breakfast) then work at 10-1030am matatapos ako around 2am. more or less 6hrs lang tulog ko

well i'm trying to wake up early, nagagawa ko sya every monday to tuesday after nun balik uli sa usual kong sched.

8hrs a day ang kelangan logged hours ako parang office lang din pero super flexi yung time.

so sis hindi ka naghohourly rate? per project basis ka? you must be earning a lot per project kung ganyan setup mo. :)

Hourly rate ako sis, most projects ganun.

it's been weeks since last visit ko sa thread na ito mahaba-haba din backread ko   ;D

Happy Valentines Day muna mga sis tee hee!

Ako din ata di ko pa naa-achieve yung sinasabing between work and personal life. As much as i don't like working on weekends i still end up doing so, pero ok na rin kesa wala work nakaka-depress hahahaa. I usually wake up 7 am to prepare breakfast then 8 am paliliguan ko na daughter ko for school. 9 am zumba muna for 30 mins kasi kelangan din natin exercise, 3x a week lang naman. Then i work 10-11:30 am. I start working again 1:30 or 2 p  til 7 pm na. Mga 9:30 pm pinapatulog ko na anak ko, then 10:30 pm work na ulit til 11:30 or 12. I always try to get 7 hours sleep kasi less than that mina-migraine na ako. Usual work hours a day ko is 6-7 hours, then minsan bawi na lang pag weekends. pag may assignment anak ko unahin muna namin yun o kaya help ko muna sya practice sa pagsulat or counting. Mahirap din pero sabi nga nila ang mga mommy walang day off hahaha.

hmmm.... work-life balance depends on which week. there are times na mas matimbang yung isa. may time kasi na madaming bigay si client na kailangan i-grab kasi once na huminto yun, saka naman asikasuhin ang life. ganun sa amin. :D

husband and I both work at home. we don't have a hh. he cooks, so mostly ang problem ko is cleaning and our son na. he does laundry, my 5 yo and I hangs it then I fold/press after. the house is not perfect but it's easier kaysa sumakit ang ulo sa hh.

our usual day starts at 10am-12nn. eat brunch tapos school time namin ng 5yo ko for 2 hours max. we are homeschooling him btw. then work ako while my son will play. up to dinner time na yun. then work ulit. 9:30pm bedtime routine na ng 5yo ko. then we read books til 11pm. then we pray and go to sleep. husband and I wakes up 1-3am to work. around 6-7am we sleep again.

sometimes we go out for my son's football class or just to go out. but usually it depends on the work load. kung sinuswerte nakakapag-out of town bitbit ang laptop.

^Yes, depends on the week nga. If nothing happens, I can work my usual 40 hours a week. Pero during times like the holidays and we need to visit relatives, or my baby is sick, or leave si yaya, wow, swerte na kung maka-6 hours a week! Nung teething si baby, grabe and pagka-bungi-bungi ng work diary ko. Laking pasalamat ko talaga na my clients don't have a set schedule or a quota for me.

For work-life balance, you can also set that you absolutely do not work weekends or whatever two days of the week you choose. Dapat alam din ng clients 'to, so they respect it, too. Tempting kasi sa atin freelancers to keep working and working kasi andyan lang naman ang laptop. But we absolutely need those rest days. Nasa habits yan of highly effective people -- they disconnect, recharge, and pursue other passions outside of work on weekends.

Thank you @freelancer_babe @wandergirl1980 @tiggerlilly @ikaela @heavensent for sharing your work schedule and insights here. Marami ako natunan from you guys. I'll try some of what you shared here and see what works for us best.

Ok, allow me to share, I tried balancing work and life this week. I made sure I finished my 40 hours within M-F so I can focus on myself and my son this weekend. I told myself i won't check my email this weekend. Ok na sana, I was able to have some R&R in Tagaytay and when I got back home a few hours ago, I decided to check it for the sake of checking out some promos on livingsocial and metrodeal, only when I checked , there was an email from my client asking if I can make 3 reports before Sunday night my time.

Mahirap hindi tumanggap ng work ng weekends, lalo na work=$ for us. Sayang din yun.

@tiggerlily, naamaze ako sa setup nyo! You don't have a househelp, you're homeschooling your son and you and your husband are freelancers! Ang galing, hands down to you both. I seldom hear of such setup lately.

^actually, mas nagwork para sa amin ang homeschooling. kasi ubos oras na iprepare then hatid sa school tapos sundo kaysa kami na lang ang mag homeschool. redundant pati kasi from what i've been seeing lately, ganun din. dami ipapauwi homework sa kids then tuturuan mo rin sila pagdating sa bahay. minus the worry pa of being away from my kid. but i think OT na to dito.

regarding working on weekends, we sometimes grab it kasi much better for us (for us lang naman ha) kung papasok ng mas maaga yung pay. so next week, even on weekdays, we can go anywhere - kapag walang work. see? dahil homeschooling and work at home kami, we can cancel classes and office and move it to another day. and ofcourse, if we choose to, we can also bring work and school to where we're going. ;)

^sorry medyo OT pero any tips sa homeschooling sis tiggerlily? my son is turning 2 and plan ko din e homeschool sya kasi feeling ko much better yun. not sure where to start kung papano hehe. baka matipid ko pa freelancer earnings ko para sa savings ng mga bata kaysa to pay preschools around tapos ilang oras lang din naman ang klase.

weak din ako pagdating sa time management kaya this week targetin ko talaga matapos task M-F like packsmom said.

^weak din ako sa time management :D basta natatapos lang din ang work ng di ko namamalayan.

your son is too young pa. so just keep on playing with him. wag muna academics/worksheets. kung gusto mo talaga singitan ng academics, lagi mo dadaanin sa play ang counting/alphabet. singing and dancing mga ganun lang. gawin mo syang stress reliever after work. i learned a lot what to teach him from his kindermusik classes. hanggang ngayon na 5yo na sya, mahilig pa rin kumanta at sumayaw. have lots of finger muscle exercises through play - google mo sya sis marami ka makikita.

Good day po mga sis, ask ko lang po lalo na sa mga work at home moms using odesk, how much is your average income na nakukuha sa odesk? and usually ano po [textspeak!] mga work na in demand? Thanks po!
I am a mom working in a corporate world and thinking of going freelance.

just passing by...:)

:o malaking adjustments for sure, sa pagkain, sa pagtulog, sa paglabas-labas. hopefully, i can do it.  :-[

back to topic: how to balance work and life? ::)

aside from time management, malaking factor din ang status. like me, I'm single so sarili ko ang oras ko. I will decide what will I do and what I don't want to do. since nasa bahay naman ako, palagi kong kaharap ang 3 boarders ko (our parents and younger bro). i just make sure na i plan my schedule for the week para hindi maapektuhan ang double shift kong working hours. may certain time  din naman na pwede akong lumabas within the day kaso mas prefer kong matulog kaysa lumabas ng bahay.  ;D and since iba ang timezone at holidays sa aming planeta, I've decided na mag-out of town with family every year. good thing I've done this kasi I've been to different places here in the country na never kong na-imagine na mapupuntahan ko.  :D

Magiging effective lang ang forum advertising if you can contribute to highly relevant topics, or your profile earns reputation sa site para di nila delete your post.

Hi sisses, I just registered sa Odesk, and I am going to try my luck sa pag apply soon. Question po, ano ang ideal hourly rate for starters?

Another question po, ano mas okay na gamitin, laptop or desktop? Kasi what I am using now is an Acer notebook, e medyo mabagal na sya, baka di ako maging efficient sa pagwork ko if ever makakuha ako.

Thanks! :)

^Hourly rate depends on you hehe at sa skill set mo sis, check mo nalang mga profiles na similar sa skill set mo para magkaroon ka ng idea.

About sa pc for work naman, I use both desktop and laptop computers. I use my desktop pc pag mahaba habang trabahuan kasi mas efficient talaga for me ang malaking monitor. I use laptop naman pag may work during travel o kaya pag sa bed lang ako at mild na work lang ang ginagawa.

I recommend na gamitin mo muna kung anong meron ka ngayon, pag kumita ka na then dun ka na mag-invest ng bongga sa kung anong mas efficient sa work na gagawin mo.
