I used to be a Starbucks barista and I love every single day of working for Starbucks. I was hired for 3 months lang since Christmas hire ako pero super fun lalo na pag rush.
You don't need to have barista training or have experienced being a barista. As a matter of fact, they'd rather hire yung walang experience mag barista. Mas madali kasi turuan mga yun. Yung mga may background kasi, matigas na mga ulo so mahirap na turuan. May kasabay ako nung initial interview (group interview), HRIM graduate from La Salle, ako naman Psychology graduate from Adamson pero mas ni-hire ako. Medyo stiff kasi si sis from La Salle and serious masyado. Yes, english ka dapat sumagot and kita na agad yung enthusiasm mo to work for them. At least 18 years old ka dapat.
You'll know na you've passed the initial interview pag huli kayong tinawag coz that means they'll have you sketch where you live para mailagay ka nila sa Starbucks store near you. Di ko lang alam kung ganun pa din kasi ilang taon na rin ang nakaraan lol. Then second interview is with the manager of the store kung san ka ilalagay. Dun kayo sa store mag-iinterview. Tapos nun yung District Manager na.
Benefits is pag 9 or 10 hours shift mo, you have 3 employee beverages with plus one add on na free. Pero you can't share your empbev with others dapat sayo lang yun. Tapos discounted din ang food and merchandise. Mas mataas na daw yung discount ngayon compared nung andun ako. Pero if nagiipon ka ng stickers, di ka puwede magpa-discount.
Working at Starbucks isn't sosyal at all ha. Lol. You're all around there. You clean the toilet, mop the floor, sweep outside, take out the trash, clean the backroom (where your stocks are), wash the plates, clean the coffee machines, vacuum the carpet and chairs, wash the sinks, ice machine everything! Yung stocks niyo na dadating dapat FIFO. aalisin mo laman ng ref para yung bagong dating sa likod nakalagay at yung luma nasa harap.
The cap and promo shirts are yours to keep but not the aprons. If mag resign ka na or endo ka na, you give them back. Pants and shoes and other black collared shirts, you buy them yourself.
Upon being a barista for them may makapal kang workbook that you need to finish in a month or two. Tapos may coffee passport ka na everytime matikman mo bawat coffee nila, kasi everyday or week iba iba ang brewed coffee, isusulat mo yung experience with that coffee. How it tastes, what it reminds you of, what food or pastry goes well with that coffee, ganun. Minsan ang mga seniors mo may mood sila to make you do coffee tasting to customers so you should be knowledgeable of their coffee and pastries na nag-click or bagay.
Pag may bagong promotion naman, may handbook for the new promotion that you need to study kasi after a week, bibisitahin kayo ng district manager and ask you guys questions about the new promo, kahit pa may customer kang kaharap. You get to taste din naman yung bagong food na lalabas.
Also kahit walang promo alam mo din dapat and rules and regulations ng stores kasi minsan pag bumisita ang district manager, bigla nalang siya magtatanong. Dapat din always malinis ang store especially yung ilalim kasi nga minsan ang district manager, luluhod o dadapa para lang makita kung malinis. lol.
I applied by handing my resume to a barista at any Starbucks store. May messenger kasi sila na dinedeliver sa office sa Makati yung resumes ng mga nagsusubmit and ibang paperworks nila.
May mga iba pa pero I forgot na. Pag naalala ko nalang ulit. lol. But it's fun working at Starbucks. You'll have fun because of the work and your co-workers. Wala akong na-encounter na KJ na barista co-worker at all. Masaya silang katrabaho. As in super happy.
