Gusto ko sana itry yung Alva Cloth Diapers ng ThirftMamaShoppe kasi siya ang cheapest sa mga nakita ko so far.  Plan ko rin mag-build ng stash pakonti-konti hanggang sa maging purely cloth diaper na gamit namin. Mas environment-friendly kasi pag CD.

^thanks for the tip sis! Meron na ako ng Next9 na cloth diaper. Di ko lang matry kasi yung toddler ko maarte. Ayaw niya isuot kasi masikip sa pata niya hehe. Mukhang mata-try ko lang yun kapag nanganak na ako.  Sige sis. I will try Alva CDs. Maramign mommies nga ang gumagamit nun though from reviews sabi nila mas better daw si Alva 4.0 kesa sa 3.0 Try ko mag-order next week.

Mommies, been reading about CDs for the past few days.  Nakaka-overwhelm sa una sa dami ng terms and systems!, pati si husband nawiweirduhan na na ilang araw na akong babad sa net reading about cloth diapers haha So far, we've decided na i-CD si baby from day1. Pinakabagay daw for newborns is prefolds/flats + diaper covers. I've read na okay ang Thirsties brand for newborns and i'm tempted to buy their Duo Wraps but I have a few questions:

1) for how long lang ba magagamit ang newborn na cloth diapers?
2) Good reviews din ang Alva and a lot cheaper pa, meron ba silang diaper covers lang? Puro pockets kasi nakikita ko e.
3) Good choice ba talaga ang diaper covers for newborns or magpocket diapers or AI2s na kami kaagad? Concern ko kasi with pockets is you have to wash the shell and inserts na kaagad, di tulad sa diaper covers na pwedeng i-reuse ng 2-3x if not soiled. Mas tipid ng konti. AI2s naman, medyo may kamahalan if for newborns..Parang sayang kasi kung kalalakihan kaagad ni baby tapos medyo mahal na kaagad ang binili namin. Isip ko pagdating ng 3 months onwards na siguro better mag-invest sa mas mahal na nappies since pwede na ang OSFM by then and baka umabot na sa potty-training/toddler age yun.

Pasensya na maraming tanong, wala kasi akong gaanong nakikitang posts about CD-ing newborns e..kadalasan after 1month old na ang mga babies sa CD posts here TIA!

I will also try cloth diapers today. My newborn son is 10days old and kah-heal lang from circumcision. I didn't want to use the CD nung hindi pa healed yung circumicision site kasi baka dumikit yung MF sa penis nya. I only bought 3 palang from Next9. As in I will try palang. If all goes well, mag-increase na ako ng stash.

sis pag pockets mas maganda daw alva 4.0 kasi mas maccomodate pata ni bebe compared sa 3.0 pero so far at 6mos ni baby happy naman ako sa alva 3.0 i think next9 kamukha rin yan ng alva

trishevil, ako naman I prefer Alva 3.0 over 4.0. Ayoko kasi nung naka-open yung both ends, naka-expose yung insert so parang mas prone mabasa si baby (super likot niya kasi).

1. Di kami nag-newborn cds. Puro disposables muna then when my baby was 3 weeks old, switch to cds na kami agad (we use Alva 3.0 and Sunbaby). Now, my baby is 10 months old and yun parin gamit namin. Yup rare nga ata nag-cd pag newborn, mostly kasi mahirap maglaba ng meconium. Ako I chose to focus muna on breastfeeding tas when I got the hang of it, nagfocus nako on cd-ing
2. Alam ko puro pockets lang talaga
3. For me, okay ang pockets kasi once soiled na, you put everything lang sa laundry bin tas suotan na si baby ng bago. I haven't used covers, pero hindi din ba nalalagyan ng poop or wee ang covers so kelangan din palitan?

i'm due on april pero super research na din ako about cloth diapers. nag join na din ako sa MCNP sa facebook and ang dami talaga matutunan. the mommies there are sobrang helpful

wishbear88 based sa nabasa ko :

1. newborns outgrow the newborn sized CD fast like a few weeks lang ata to a month so most advise not to invest on these. but if you have the budget for it then go.  i only bought one kasi sobrang cute tapos pang picture picture ba 

2. not sure if alva has covers pero parang puro pockets lang din ang nakita ko. (but sa sobrang cute nga prints nag order na din ako nung nag sale ng 5 CDs for 1k )

3. most moms really suggest covers and prefolds (or lampin) for newborns. kasi daw palit nga ng palit and it's the most economical/cheapest form of CDing. na mo monitor pa daw urine output kasi nga palit agad once soiled tapos iwas diaper rash pa.  some suggest 3 to 4 covers and 2 to 3 dozen prefolds depending on how often you'll do your laundry and syempre your budget.

on your question on buying AIOs or AI2s for newborns - sabi nila it would depend on the size of our baby. so some could already use these pag malaki si baby kahit ilang days or weeks pa lang.

as most moms would advise just buy a few pockets, AIOs and AI2s muna para ma experience natin first hand kung ano mas magugustuhan natin and mas magiging hiyang sa atin and kay baby.

Thanks mommy shooting_star and rizzie1026 for the inputs. Yun nga e, mukhang covers/shells and prefolds na lang muna sa start to better monitor the output. Suggestion nga ng mga moms sa mcnp, mag-osfm na lang daw para tipid at hindi palit ng palit . Is there a suggested brand on prefolds na okay or kahit ano okay naman?

Mommy m_lim from what i've read,  usually pag ganito, either maluwag sa may hita kaya tumatagos. Dapat lapat daw kasi kay baby. It's that or dapat dagdagan ng booster ang mga inserts na ginagamit, baka heavy wetter si baby.

Nag CD na kami ni baby.. He's 2 months now and after trying it for 1 week, I must say na itutuloy ko sya bumili na ako ng additional cds.. Coola baby and Alva baby ang gamit namin. Mas matipid talaga to in the long run plus presko pa ngayon lalo tag init..

m_lim, baka mali yung type of detergent you're using? Ang dami kasing bawal na ingredients so I just memorized the detergents that are safe for cd-ing: Tide Original, HHN Tough Love, Cycles and Charlie's Soap.

Depende sa fabric at kapal ng insert (pad as you mentioned).  Hemp or Bamboo usually ang absorbent.  Microfiber din absorbent kaso may tendency bumaho. 

Depende din sa type of cloth diaper na gamit kung yung insert lang ang papalitan. Kung cover, puwede insert lang palitan kasi wipeable naman ang covers.  If you are using pockets or AIOs, you need to change the entire diaper due to the lining (pockets) or built-in inserts (AIO)

In my case, I usually change every 3 hours max if my LO is awake.  Hygiene wise din. Maski sa disposable dapat din ganon para maiwasan ang UTI.  I usually touch the inside of the diaper once in a while to check if she's wet.

I'm new with CDs. Super gusto ko siya kasi makakatipid and the designs. However, nagpreprepare na ko for my little one.

Ano ba yung magandang insert? Kasi i bought bamboo charcoal for night use. Yung puting inserts ang hindi ko maintindihan. Pockets yung binili ko para stay in place pa din siya kahit malikot si baby.
