I am so paranoid. My 4 years old daughter was diagnosed with PC last july 3, positive both xray and ppd skin test. july 4 day 1 nya ng kidz kit 3. she's 13.5 kilos and ang dosage sa kanya ay 3.5 ml, for all 3 meds. today day 5 ng meds nya nilagnat yung daughter ko, nung umaga 37.8, i gave her tempra, now 8 pm, and temperature nya ay 38, last tempra nya ay 6pm, so next ko ay 10 pm pa. side effects ba ng meds nya nya yung fever? Feeling ko may sipon sya na hindi pa lumalabas. pero nag rereklamo din sya na masakit tyan nya kanina. pero di naman na masakit na masakit to make her cry. She's sleeping right now. I don't know if I should take her to the ER.

hi Doc lelet, may nakakapa po akong bukol sa batok ni baby, I think it is kulani, pinacheck ko naman sa pedia nya and she told me na that is occipital lymph nodes, it is nomal and not enlarged so nothing to worry about. di naman po sya nakabukol, mararamdaman lang po cya pag kinapa sa batok. possible ba na lumaki yun at can that be a sign of having PC? TIA po

@guilleanne:
Best thing to do is to have your child checked up by the pedia.

@ankyneMD:
Yes, there is a possibility of recurrence. As to when the TB will recur will depend on the patient or the person's immune response. Just as with PC, TB recurrence may occur with constant exposure to a person who has TB at a time when mahina ang resistensya ng person getting exposed.

@joevicko:
I agree with your pedia. Not all enlarged lymph nodes or kulani is due to PC.
Lahat tayo may mga kulani all over our bodies. Exception to this will be persons who are born with immune deficiency or yun talagang may problema sa immune system at walang capacity to fight infection. Ang mga kulani lumalaki kapag may injury or infection or inflammation. Usually, ang mga kulaning lumalaki ay ang mga kulani na malapit sa site of infection or injury or inflammation kasi ito yung pinakamabilis na makakapagdala ng antibodies papunta sa kailangan nitong tulungan. So kung nasa batok ang nakapa mong kulani, then most likely it may be due to either a scalp, ear or nasal problem. Sa PC, it is usually the neck, clavicle and lung lymph nodes that will enlarge as a result of the lung infection. So usually ang makakapa na kulani will be the kulani sa neck and clavicle area.

^ There are anti TB meds that have to be given on an empty stomach for better absorption so the best time to give the 2 meds (Isoniazid and Rifampicin) would have to be first thing in the morning upon waking up when the stomach is most empty. There are meds that may be given after meals such as pyrazinamide and ethambutol (ethambutol is usually not given to kids less than 7 years of age due to color vision side effects). I suggest you clarify the timing of the meds with the doctor.

^Dr. His pediatrician said every 5:30pm. All three meds. Izoniasid,rifampicin and PZA.   :(  My counsin's weight is now 20kg from 19Kg  after a month  drinking of his medication. His next appointment in August 15  pa, his pediatrician gave us the time of my counsin's medication then after that i wrote it in a big paper and posted it on our kitchen wall  our reminders not to forget it.  in the morning sched he only drinks  2 vitamins propan Tlc  and cheriffer..  Im afraid baka di maalis ang primary complex niya. Btw Dr.  he's 6 years old.

^ Clarify it na lang on the next visit. Your pedia may have his own reasons and it will be best to hear his explanation regarding the scheduling. Were there any instructions given like no food 2 hours before 5:30pm? Another option of giving Isoniazid and rifampicin is to give it 2 hours after a meal if it cannot be given first thing in the morning.

my daughter turning 4 next month has been diagnosed with PC.  she looks okay, acts okay. and very active. a month ago inubo sya ng dere derecho for 2weeks. binigyan sya ng antibiotic ng pedia nia. and kahit nag antibiotic d nawala ubo. so we consulted a pedia pulmo. dun nadetect and PC nya. although ngayon d naman na sya naubo. First day of medication nya today. The kidz kit 3 ang binigay sa kanya. i give yung isa pagkagising nya. and yung 2 2 hrs after dinner. vitamins sa gitna after lunch and sa hapon.

not sure also kung san sya nahawa. but we had different yayas allthroughout the 4 years. were also scheduled for chest xray. kami ng daddy nya. hays :( im worried masyado sya madami iniinom. yung kidz kit 3, growee, ceelin at appebon. lahat prescribed ng pedia pulmo nya.

And it DOESN'T MADE SENSE. for what reason nya ipapax-ray yung bata tapos hindi din pala maniniwala sa result.

Since birth, may kulani na likod ng lower head ng anak ko. right side above nape area, between the place connecting the head and neck.

Until now, 1 year old hindi nawala and parang lumaki pa nga. yun halak nya nawala na.. pero madali sya kapitan ng ubo at sipon. tapos kapag humahalakhak sya, there is some sort of sound na "parang naghahabol sya ng hininga" or yung parang sound na humihinga ka mula sa lalamunan..

Payat at maliit sya for her age.

@smile22:
Water will not interfere with the absorption of the PC meds. You can give water after the meds. Wag lang other fluids like milk or juice.

@ysuran:
After disregarding the xray findings, ano ang ginawang management ng pedia mo? Were there meds given?
There are times that we really disregard xray findings, especially if clinically, there is no basis for the chest xray findings. Why? There are many reasons kung bakit pwede mali ang xray finding like luma ang plate na ginamit, mali ang reading (dependent din sa reader ang xray results), may radiologic lag, etc. Kailangan pa rin i-tie up ang xray findings with what we see in the clinic (physical examination aside from the history). This is the reason why some radiologists write "please correlate clinically" sa xray results.
Also, hindi nawawala ang kulani unless it is surgically removed. Lymph nodes or kulanis are important parts of the immune system.
If it is behind the ears, then check for infection from the ears, head, nose, throat. Ang kulani na because of PC is usually on the neck and lung areas. Hindi lahat ng kulani because of TB or PC. Pwedeng lumaki ang kulani as a result of sugat, dental caries or sirang ngipin, allergies, cancer, etc.
It would probably be best to seek a 2nd opinion if you are not satisfied with the explanation of your pedia.
If indeed your child has PC, please start looking for a possible source of TB inside your household.

@sky_butterfly17:
Non - specific lymphadenopathy means there is no clear cause for the enlarged lymph nodes seen on the chest xray.

@littlekinselle:
How many hours after last meal ibinibigay ang isoniazid and rifampicin?

Hi Doc leletmd,

If nag positive po sya skin test, possible na may PC sya. Paano po pag negative yung skin test meaning wala po syang PC. pero we need to know san nanggaling yung enlarged lymph nodes nya.
