Hi I'm new and wala pang final diagnosis about what happened to my baby at 23 weeks dahil nag pre-term ako and sadly, he lived only for 2 hrs. He is our first baby :(

This time TTC kmi and I saw a fertility doc, she recommended na take ako APAS test, my problem is.. di ko alam if this is really what caused my loss, kasi my regular OB said wala silang nakita na problem with my placenta or blood.

Ano ba ang symtoms nyo if you had a loss with APAS and how many weeks pregnant na kayo noon? salamat girls <3

Hello po mga sisses! I'm back  :) Hi to sis barbiebaby28 i miss you hehe. update lang po from me since di ako naka comment kasi nalock yung previous thread.

Hay pero God is good and we made it. Lahat ng medications, injections, paulit ulit na dopplers and biometry are all worth it. Baby boy weighed 2.9 kg.
I am exclusively breastfeeding until now, and he's turning 6 months this end of April.
kaya po mga sisses don't lose hope. Have faith in God almighty.

Hello! I'm new to this thread and I hope people are still active here to share thoughts on my situation. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and on bed rest so I have so much time on my hands to make myself more anxious. Sorry for the long story but I just need to vent this out.

Just to share my history - I already have a 5 year-old son with whom I had the easiest pregnancy one could ever wish for (no pregnancy symptoms, no complications, if it were not for my huge belly I wouldn't have noticed I was pregnant). Back when I was still single I was already diagnosed with PCOS but was able to conceive naturally and unplanned. I was on the pill until last year and I got pregnant 3 months after I stopped taking it (April). Unfortunately, that ended in a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks (fetus only grew until 6 weeks).

This March I got pregnant again. All my 3 pregnancies have been spontaneous - unassisted and without medications. I was happy to find out but being the pessimist and worrywart that I am I over-analyzed every symptom I had and every symptom that I didn't have. I kept on pestering my OB via text and saw her every week because I keep on getting anxiety attacks that something is wrong with the baby. I also developed gestational diabetes early on this pregnancy but my OB has assured me that this is easy to manage and so far, it really has been. I love my OB and she is very positive and patient with me and if not for her I would have really gone bonkers.

Just last week I had another one of those "anxiety visits" to my OB and just to appease me (this after being shown a nice scan of the fetus with healthy heartbeat and minor subchorionic bleeding) she ordered for me to have APAS panel because my cousin who is also pregnant has this condition. I did all the expensive tests including the tissue crossmatch and primary immunodeficiency panel. There were some findings so I was referred to an immunologist.

The immunologist explained that while I do not have the "bad" antibodies, I do not have the "good' ones and my clotting time is shortened - so I do not APAS, but alloimmune disorder and thrombophilia. The treatment is the same though - heparin injections (I am allergic to aspirin), intralipid infusions and LIT. I started all these this week.

I realized though that right after my intralipid infusion, my belly and whole body felt really heavy, but the days after that I felt light as a breeze, and an alleviation of the symptoms that I had from the beginning - no more nausea and headache, no heavy feeling in the belly, no more aches and pains. At first I felt relief but now I am beginning to panic again as I am utterly convinced again that something's wrong with the baby that's why I am feeling better. I want to go to the OB again but to be honest I am trying to resist doing so as my husband is getting wary of my panic attacks and I have another ultrasound scheduled next week anyway. I don't know how I can last until then without losing my mind.

If anyone can share their experiences with the treatments, please do so. Thanks for taking the time to read my long post. :)

^hi sis, i had miscarriage before sa first baby ko sa second trimester. Akala ko nun after struggling sa first trimester ok na, yun pala hindi mo masasabi. I was in bed rest for 3 months dahil subchrionic hemorage. Ngayon TTC kami sa infertility specialist and ayun nag undergo ako sa blood test. I was also reffered to immunologist and according to her hindi naman yun immune ang naging cause ng miscarriage ko, kasi na-carry ko daw siya ng 6 months e. Anyways I think better not to worry. Iwasan mo yun kasi nakaka-stress lang yun. Have a safe pregnancy sis. :)

Hi! I'm new here. I had five pregnancies. The first one was successful, and I gave birth to a healthy baby boy, in 2008. Pregnancy was unremarkable. No complications except the baby was a little macrosomic (big head) pero normal naman ng lumabas. The subsequent pregnancies all resulted to miscarriages (at 4 mos due to infection, 5 mos due to placenta previa and premature rupture, 2 mos due to spontaneous abortion and 1 mos - blighted ovum).  I am again pregnant and changed doctor. I now am with PGH's Dr. Suplido and she recommended me for APAS screening, as well as a host of other lab tests. She also referred me to Dr. Aleta.
My question is, how expensive is the APAS panel tests and the medications? Dr. Suplido mentioned I may have to get heparin shots 2 a day. =( I just wanna prepare myself financially for this.

thanks in advance.
Winter

Hi sis Winterfire76.. I had my APAS Panel Test at Bloodworks located at Katipunan, QC worth 5,980.00. Ito na kasi yung mura na malapit samin. Anyways, I inquired din sa Manila Endocrine Laboratory located at Pedro Gil near corner ng San Marcelino St. cost is 5,500.00. PGH naman 6,410. Hope these will help you. No idea pa yung future expenses since nagsisimula pa lang din ako. I found Dra. Lara Aleta in these threads kaya we decided na dun na pumunta tomorrow for further explanations sa results ng APAS ko.

Ako din mga sis, matagal na ako TTC, I had 3 pregnancy, first was a still birth at 23 weeks, nawalan na lang ng heatbeat, then second pregnancy ko is now 4 year old baby boy, yung third still birth ng 23 weeks, my OB suggested me to do APAs test, and I did, and feeling ko positive ako since medyo above normal siya, sa Manila Endo Lab lang din ako nagpagawa. Unang pregnancy ko kasi iba OB ko, yung second eto na, nung una pa lang sa cbc ko nakita na niya na medyo mataas daw hematocrit ko, so binigyan niya ako aspirin nun, nagnormal labor ako on my 2nd child na ngayon ay 4 year old na. Yung third pregnancy ko, nag aspirin ako pero I dont know bigla di ko na siya naramdaman tas nun inultrasound wala na heart beat, that time sabi ko tama na yung only child, pero ngayon seeing my child plays alone and eto medyo naii spoiled eh nagdesisyon na kami ni hubby na sundan. So I went  back to my OB then she asked me a wellness check up and laboratory such as cbc, urinalysis and the like, duon nakita pa din sa cbc ko na mas mataas sa normal level yun hematocrit ko, and dahil diyan, sinabihan niya ako to do the Apas test, and see an immunologist. For pre cautionary measure din, siyempre ayaw ko maranasan yun sakit at lungkot na at 6 months eh mawawala pa... Kaya eto, Im starting all over again, wala problem with me getting pregnant but yung imaintain yung pregnancy ko in full term. Kaya eto im back reading for Dr Aleta, siya kasi nirecommend ng Ob ko for my immuno.

Hi everyone, I just stumbled across this thread and I'm so grateful to finally find a community that shares the same journey through APAS. May God bless all of us as we go through this together.

Just curious lang po, somebody mentioned a Facebook group for APAS patients? Can't find it kasi eh but I wanted to join sana. :)

Is anybody here getting treated by Dr. Ed Lim?

Thanks so much sis! Nag-join na ako but pending lang so far hehe.

I can't believe nga po na nagiging common na ang APAS. dati never heard siya e. It's difficult to find a support group lang, because none of my relatives have ever heard of it, and sa mga friends ko, ako yung first to get married so they're kinda clueless din.

hi everyone!
may i join? My doctor is 95% sure that I'm losing my pregnancy and im just waiting to take one last beta hcg tom to confirm a further drop. At 6w1 day i began to spot and my beta hcg dropped by half. the gestational sac like structure that we saw 2 days before has shrank from 5.2 to 3.9mm. this is a terrible time for me to be sure. But being the type A person that I am, I cried for 2 whole days and decided today, OK na, tama na, I need to get back on track and get better for my husband and son. its best to find a reason for this happening since the doctor said its so early they couldnt tell if it was blighted ovum. I searched online and found that APAS causes miscarriage.
I have a happy healthy son born at a whopping 8.5 lbs via cs who is turning 2 years old in Feb who was born after a largely uneventful pregnancy (just a SCH during my 1st trimester that had me on bed rest for 4 months). I have PCOS and it took me a whole year to conceive him naturally after several failed IUIs. This time I got pregnant on our 5th try using clomid and decilone. We were so happy, as the baby would have been born near my birthday. I thought perfect 32nd birthday gift. We will definitely try again after the required waiting time of 1 cycle after i bleed out the tissues. I hope to get pregnant again soon but would want to do my part in preventing another miscarriage.
My doctor said APAS can strike at anytime and I could have developed it after having my son. Normally daw she waits for recurrent pregnancy loss but I dont think I can handle another loss knowing I didnt do everything to prevent it. Dra agreed and said I can definitely have APAS screening if I can afford it and she can explain to me whats going on and if I need to be referred to immunologist.
Does anyone have similar experience? One healthy pregnancy then a very early pregnancy loss? Does APAS make one lose the baby earlier or later in the pregnancy?
I will take the APAS screening test voluntarily to check para we can do something about it if we do get blessed with another BFP. Is this APAS panel?
Is Manila Endocrine Lab dependable with results? I see that several of sisters here have used them.
thanks in advance!!!
im so sorry for my long and depressing tale to all TTC-ers out there. :( Just need a little light shed.

Hi sis MPT072311.. Sorry to hear that. Anyway, as far as I read these threads, there are some sis here whom are the same with your case. They have 1 born child and the succeeding pregnancies turn to miscarriages.

You can have your tests in Manila Endocrine Lab in Manila or in BloodWorks in Katipunan.

We can conclude that you're in this case once the result said it. APAS is only 1 test. Negative results in APAS doesn't mean that you have no problem. You may ask your OB or find an Immunologist for the other tests.

Post modified. Please refrain from quoting long posts.

I have borderline apas too. 4 miscarriages and now proud mom of twins (no ivf natural lang). What i remember is nakailang apas panel test ako. After my first miscarriage negative, after the second miscarriage negative padin pero mas mataas values (i was actually pregnant pa when they did the test) and it was confirmed i had apas while i was pregnant with my twins although borderline. My ob had me drink baby aspirin until i reAched 22 weeks. And even before i got pregnant tanda ko pinainom nya na ako. I also had immunologist before pero sa twins ob ko nalang nagmanage. I had two obs. Perinat yung isa repro endo yung isa. I had a lot of Anxiety during that time i was pregnant with twins. Anyway after them nabuntis ulit ako but i opted not to push thru the pregnancy so hinayaan ko lang yung apas hindi ako nagamot. Pls dont take me wrong sisses i could die kasi due to heart issues i had with my twins akala nga nung una caRdiomyopathy may taning na ako thank god nagmilagro. I chose to be with my twins and live kesa risking my life.  :'(

^^ thanks for info mga sis, I live near BGC so my husband wants me to just take it easy and have my APAS and LAT panel done in st lukes para mas less yung stress of going too far.
Im just due to check if complete miscarriage  ko tom and will be taking both blood tests while im there na rin.
Confused. U mean a negative apas panel does not rule out problem?
^Sis Design21, when were you referred to immunologist? Kasi my OB says take muna APAS panel (ako lang nagmamarunong and mag papa LAT. Wala naman sinabi si doc nun hehe.) and from there she will tell me if I need immunologist. Dapat daw recurrent miscarriage before testing sa APAS but if that can help manage any subsequent pregnancy, ok lang for me gumastos. Pwede naman kitain ulit ang pera but life cant be replaced. :(
So game na kami ulit after ko ng 1 more period. Clomid and whatever else i meed to do to sustain a pregnancy. Dapat naka baby aspirin din ako but nung 2012 i tried that and nagka-hives yung face ko. So we stopped it kasi allergic reaction.

^ it was after my first miscarriage then i got pregnant a year after habang buntis dun ako pinatest ni ob kasi mababa ang hcg ko nung nagpt ako positive sa tvs wala naman sac. So indi tumuloy ang pregnancy pero mataas level hcg ko and the fact i was only 23 yrs old then maliit pa chance na makunan and nasa lahi namin nakukunan kaya pinacheck nya na ako.

Aside from apas mababa din progesterone ko kaya para kumapitvsi kambal mga agmot na ng ivf patients binigay sakon God i hate that crinone gel

@sis MPT072311.. Yung iba hindi naman positive sa APAS pero nagmi-miscarriage pa rin. Marami pa po kasing test bukod sa APAS and LAT.
