Hi sissys... My baby boy just turned 3 y/o this July 2013... My hubby & I are currently in search for preschools near Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong... I've read some threads here in FN, medyo mahal pla tuition fees... I would appreciate it if anyone could give me suggestions on good progressive schools within the area na hindi masyado costly... Much better sana if meron sila chinese curriculum... Thank you very much...

Explorations - around 100k nearer shaw.  Aheadstart @ kapitolyo around 60-70k. My daughter is enrolled at aheadstart.

Hi! You might want to try Cambridge Child Development Centre. It's located along Shaw Blvd in Mandaluyong, just beside Puregold. It's an international preschool. The teachers and staff are very warm and accommodating. They really focus on each child's individual needs.

Explorations preschool is really one of the best progressive preschools in the Philippines =) =) Thing is, every year, as your kid gets older- the higher the level the more expensive the tuition. Plus they increase also every year.

My kids have been to all kinds of preschool in Manila -- progressive, semi traditional, Montessori. We even went to the expensive progressive preschools but the best for me is HE Montessori in Mandaluyong. Aside from the price, the owner of the school genuinely loves babies to little kids. Also, snacks are all in. My child learned more than my other kids who went to expensive preschools.

My 2 kids are currently enrolled at Explorations Preschool, grabe ang laki ng increase for next year  its around P155k per kid and that is the early bird rate pa! I'm thinking of transferring them nalang, not just because of the price but also, medyo nakukulangan ako sa program, like when we had a trial class at another preschool that is both traditional and progressive - that school had short lessons included already for their youngest class (like writing, identifying, etc) , which Explorations doesn't have. I feel na mahirapan makipagsabayan kids go pag mag start na sa big school. Any suggestions for San Juan/ Mandaluyong area that is both progressive and tradional?

^Sis be thankful hehe My kid goes to the grade school of Explorations which is Keys School Manila. OMG--- This year our tuition fee was already a whopping 280K! I received a memo saying they will increase for next year. Honestly it does annoy me how much they keep increasing every single year. However, the quality is there.

Re your concern with the curriculum. Once you get to the higher levels, their curriculum is way advanced and very well-rounded. I know this because I transferred my kid from Xavier School (which is very good too) and my son even had more challenging lessons in some of his classes in Keys. So much so that he even had better grades in Xavier than in Keys.

My child went to Explorations before and it was ok naman though her reading and writing skills weren't at par with those who went to traditional preschools.  I highly recommend HEMC Montessori  in Manda. The tuition is plus minus P50k with snacks pa ha. They even have a wonderful transition class for those going to big school. Do go and check it out

Oh my Gosh! Ganun kataas ang Keys tuition! May I ask why you chose Keys over Xavier? I've been hearing a lot of good reviews about Keys though! Might not be able to afford that for my 2 kids hehe  I raised my concern about the lack of lessons, the teacher mentioned naman that lesson will start at level 3 - my kids are level 1 & 2 now. Thanks for the feedback!

^I wasn't happy with Xavier =( They have good academics, but I felt there was something lacking when it came to the socio-emotional development of my kid. My son was getting bullied all the time and that was my primary reason to move him. When I go to PTCs the teachers don't even remember sometimes who my son is.

If you have 2 or more kids enrolled in Keys, they give discounts. Also, the higher the grade the more expensive the fees. Kinder is 240k, all the way up to 300+k for Grade 12.
The class size is only about 20 kids, with 2 teachers. (Math, Sci. have specialized teachers). Beacon Academy in Makati has the almost the same curriculum as Keys but fees there are a whopping 550k not including the bond.

My child goes to Keys and tuition for the next school year for Grade 2 is around 250-260k if you pay semi-annual and around 240k if annual. Class ratio is around 2:20..We're happy with Keys but additionally kasi my child is also undergoing ABA therapy and shadow teaching, adding another expense of around 70k per month Kaya we were thinking of transferring to another school (perhaps montessori or another progressive that's not very pricey) which is open to having a shadow teacher.

I've been hearing good feedback on HE Montessori and will give them a call. If you know any other schools around Mandaluyong, would be happy to check them out. Thanks!
