Feeding Bottles (Thread 5)

^ yun baby ko hindi naman nalilito, sis. Direct latch kami most of the time then bottles pag lalabas. I use Playtex and The First Years.

^^ di naman malilito si baby, but it's more of baka may preference siya. intay mo muna saan siya mag-la-latch then yun ang buy mo. ano'ng size (or number) ng dr. brown's mo?

Baby ko naman uses different bottles (Avent-classic, natural, and now yung bago nila na parang Pigeon ang teat), TommeeTippee, Playtex, TheFirstYears, Medela) and di rin sya nagka-nipple confusion.

In our case, we introduced the bottle around  5wks kasi i really had to go out for errands and was away for about 3-4hrs at a time then. At first ayaw nya mag-bote. Me times na iinom lang sya konti, pampawala lang siguro ng gutom tapos itutulog na lang nya. Pagkauwi ko, pag nag-latch, mega-dede na parang gutom na gutom, haha.

So what we did, I had the yaya give her BM in a bottle at least once a day starting her 6th week, kahit nasa bahay lang ako. Para masanay lang na hindi always direct. Then pina-rotate ko ng gamit ng different feeding bottle brands para wala sya makasanayan na 1 type lang. Personally kasi, I think mas mako-confuse si baby versus Mommy's nips if me certain type of bottle/teat lang na nakasanayan. So sinanay ko na iba-iba, para di sya mamimili. Kung ano meron, dedede sya.

And my strategy worked for us naman. Now, madalas bottle sya sa hapon, because that's when I rest or catch up on work (I work at home). For most of the day (and night), direct kami. For those times when I had to be out of the house for some errands or meetings, wala na problem si yaya on feeding her sa bottle. Baby just turned 6mos, by the way. Sometimes, ako din mismo nagpapadede sa kanya with a bottle and generally, di naman sya umaangal esp if nasa car or nasa labas kami.

For our first born, we used Dr. Brown's and Avent. I plan to do the same with our second baby.

Went to SM kanina to compare nipples. I really like how soft yung feel ng playtex nipples saka they have different variants pala that fits sa lahat ng bottles nila. very convenient. sobrang soft ng nipples ng playtex. i might use this for my baby kapag iffeed ko sya ng BM sa bottle.

When do you change from slow flow to medium flow nipples?

Sayang yung tommee tippee ko, ayaw ko na siya. Hahahaha ako may ayaw, hindi si baby. I just find playtex more convenient.

I'm still using slow-flow until now, though I replaced with new teats na. Wala ako balak palitan para di masanay si baby sa mabilis na flow. Baka kasi eventually e ma-frustrate pag direct feeding kung mabagal ang let-down.

Has anyone ever heard of the brand Yoomi? They have a self warming bottle and I think I'll use this pag night feedings lang or if I can't breastfeed like nasa car and of course di sya pwdeng alisin sa car seat. It warms itself if a minute and then ready to go na.

Bit expensive but I'd pay anything just to get that extra sleep.

Anyone notice that the measurement between medela and avent bottles are different?

I pump into medela storage bottles and transfer the milk to avent for feeding. I noticed that in medela i'll have 1 and 1/4 ozmilk but when i move to avent it's 1.5 oz

question po. I ebf my baby. Maraming tumutulo sa breast ko so I was thinking of pumping, I sterilize my pumpand bottles, do I need to air dry them before use?

^ yes. Dapat walang tirang water sa bottle before you pump into it.

gaano nyo kadalas ssterilize ang bottle ni baby?

^ In a day, once lang usually ginagawa ni helper. Iniipon muna niya lahat ng used bottles (binabanlawan lang muna) para one-time hugasan and sterilizing na lang.

may life span ba ang feeding bottles? 2yrs old na si baby pero sterilized parin bottles  niya.

i wonder kung pwede pa ipagamit sa baby #2 ang bottles.

^ air-dry lang ako, sis. Bumili ako drying rack for bottles.
