sa thread na "things you refuse to spend money on" may mga nabanggit ang ibang posters na mga bagay na "'luxury" para sa iba, pero necessity para sa kanila. please share yours, baka may matutunan tayo

for me a cellphone line. kahit nung high school pa ako i have a line dahil minsan biglang i-dismiss ang class due to bagyo o may nakalimutan ako sa house, sa dami ng tumatawag sa payphone after some time out of order na, so hindi ako makatawag sa bahay para makapagpasundo. nung na-uso yung prepaid, i gave my line kay hubby tapos one time wala akong load chaka pa nagkaroon ng aberya, nasanga ng truck yung meralco line, kailangan ko pang makiusap sa friend na itext/call si hubby. hassle.

water heater. lamigin ako sobra.

branded items/reputable store. not necessarily high-end pero at least those we buy from malls, gusto ko yung security na i can return an item kapag defective, feeling ko lang hirap magsoli ng items sa ukay/divi/tiangge though i have never tried. ganoon rin for quality clothes, minsan tignan mo pa lang yung item andaming sobrang sinulid, for me yun pa lang bad quality na.

good food/decent place to eat. again, hindi kailangang high-end para sa akin pero andaming kainan na smells & mukhang madumi dito sa atin & parang lokohan minsan yung ingredients. ayoko i-encourage ang mga negosyante dito na lokohin tayo so i'd rather pay a little more for real decent food.

taxi. dahil wala pa kaming parttime driver, taxi is a good alternative. kung hindi lang mausok dito sa atin at hindi mahirap sumakay ng bus at jeep, hindi ako mag-taxi. kasi ang hirap kapag dating sa pupuntahan mukha na akong exhausted at parang ang dumi ko na.

car. malayo ang sakayan ng bus sa bahay namin like 2km and sobrang mahal ng taxi kaya may kanya-kanya kaming kotse sa bahay dahil iba-iba kami ng pinupuntahan and mas convenient kung may kanya-kanya kaming sasakyan.

* massage - stressful and buhay ko and because of this lagi masakit likod ko. I need the massage para ma relieve but I don't do this often naman

Postpaid line - i have to call my clients all the time. Plus pag may emergency lalo na nasa kalye ako, alangan naman maghanap pa ako ng payphone di ba to get help.

Water Heater- i need it and my son needs it.

Car - security reason.

High end skin care regimen- of course it will be used for me, ayoko naman maging pangit because nagtid ako sa skincare ko. I prefer yung guaranteed na tested ng mga dermatologist talaga and yung bagay sa skin type ko. Sensitive kasi balat ko.

Resto- as much as possible i avoid karinderya. Im scared of hepa.

House appliances - as much as possible gusto ko yung mga kilala yung brand. I dunno but im scared kasi na nakatipid nga ako sa gastos sa appliances, masususnunog naman bahay ko.

Massage at Spa although once a month para sa iba luxury kaya nagsesetaside ako ng budget for it medyo least priority sya pero nasa listahan sya iba kasi nagagawa ng massage sobrang narerelax ako.

home services like haircut/color/style, massage- ayoko nagamit sa iba yung gagamitin sa akin. like scissor, comb, brush, creams/toner etc.
private tutor for french- i tried going to school to learn french pero na bored ako, so sa bahay na lang ako nagpapaturo.
gardener- di talaga ako green thumb so i would hire kababayan natin para extra income din nila.

Post Paid Mobile Plan - Need ko kase sa work and nakakasave ako sa free international calls/local calls/ international and local SMS.  I even upgraded kase nung hindi ko pa inaupgrade gumagastos ako ng 700-800AED per month, now around 400 na lang.

Smartphone (Specifically ones with Stylus) - Need ko rin sa work.  Para I don't need to carry pen and paper all the time.  Hassle free pa kase isa lang dala kong gamit when I go out. 

Car - Work din.  I need to run errands once in a while for Boss.  Personal Alalay kase   Taxi is out of the question, mamumulubi ako!

Internet Connection & Cable TV at home - OFW po pagbigyan niyo na LOL!

Good Skin Care Products and Make Up - Hindi naman mamahalin ang skin care products ko, OLAY lang gamit ko but I have 5-6 products, moisturizer for the morning, then evening, tapos may para sa under the eyes sa morning and iba rin sa evening. Plus may ina-apply pa ako before the moisturizer di ko na matandaan, and ofcourse facial wash.  Isa sa asset ko yang makinis na skin ng face ko kaya inaalagaan ko talaga sya.  Kaya sa make up nagsimula na rin ako mag-inarte hahaha! Pero promise mas madali i-apply yung medyo may kamahalan at mas maganda din ang result so sulit ang presyo.  I don't buy a lot of make up din yung kailangan ko lang at kapag naubos saka lang bibili ng kapalit.

A nice bed with nice bedsheets - Sa akin lang, we spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping. Might as well invest in a really good mattress and nice bedsheets.

Good skin care- Hard to fix bad skin, even with high end make up. So might as well invest in good skin care.

Good, comfortable hotels in vacations - Again, comfort is key.

Good restaurants - because we just like eating good food a whole lot

Useful gadgets- I have very few, but those that I do have, matibay at gamit na gamit. I love my phone because I do so many things on it (online banking, email, etc). I also love my camera and my laptop. Sulit na sulit.

My health care expenses na luxury for some but necessity for me, like my vitamins and my Pilates classes. I haven't been sick for as long as I can remember, and my back pains have considerably lessened, so I guess they must be worth it.

1. Travelling. Especially now that I am married, I and my husband try our best to travel at least once a year. This is our 'us' time. And ang sarap ng feeling na parang kaming mga bata na nawawala sa isang foreign country specially when the country that we visit rarely speak in English and the street signs are clueless. We always discover something new about each other

2. Skincare and Makeup. Mahirap magkaron ng regrets sa area na ito. A good skin care routine (including makeup) achieves many immediate and longer-term results.

3. Hair care. This is an area that I wouldn't want to take a risk. Once I went to a neighborhood salon para magpa rebond. Walis na walis ang buhok ko! It would look uglier if I'll cut my hair short kaya I had to bear with it for quite some time.

Smartphone with camera and laptop - Siyempre, for blogging purposes, it's either a PC or a Mac would work, but for better results, I use a MacBook Pro. Also, I use my iPhone mainly because I use Instagram + Apps that cannot be found in Google Play Store (e.g., Tinned Cam, Exploration Base).

Hair care products - Shampoo, conditioner and herbal oil is a must.

Salon appointments, facials and errr... massage - For relaxation purposes. Tee-hee.

Typically a luxury, but living in Manila, a car is a necessity. If only our city had an efficient, clean, and reliable mass transportation system like Singapore or Japan. A car is something my budget could definitely do without!

vehicle -- i often have to be at several places each day. sayang ang oras sa pag-antay ng PUV, pagbaba, pagsakay, indirect routes, etc... besides, madalas marami akong dala.

travel or time off -- the daily grind takes its toll after a while. it doesn't have to be a grand vacation. kahit mamundok ako toting nothing but a backpack and a trekking pole. a change of scenery and learning/seeing new things is enough to reboot my system.

good mattress and beddings -- through the years i think i've slept on almost any kind of surface, luxurious, clean, and the exact opposite and i can wing it, but when i get home i want to have the most restful sleep possible. it's a third of our life we're talking about

good shoes -- i love walking, running, and hiking, but my feet get easily injured. especially at this point in my life the last thing i want is to incur injuries on my feet so... no choice. quality footwear come at a price.

ALL trappings of wealth, in classy/elegant/low-key expression --  never loud/vulgar
      We work hard, we don't kurakot, pwes enjoy the fruits of our labor.  Unlike others who save it all & breed parasitic children who will spend on bad habits --  might as well spend most of it now.

Travel in comfort (ayoko ng backpacker & similar style).  While we aren't too old/achy to travel - we should enjoy the world out there.  Sabi nga, you can't bring anything with you when you die.  And you can die anytime, in a heartbeat.

Travel out of the Phils - pang destress at pang reset ng iniisip.  At least your mind is busy sa pagprepare, kaya reset sha sa stress sa office.  I love preparing itineraries for Int'l travels.

Skin Care - Di ako bumibili kahit cheap or galing sa watson's.  Hada Labo, Clinique or Kiehls and Benefit are one of the brands na kahit di mura, hiyang ako.  Clarisonic Mia 2 as well.  Gastos is just secondary concern for me as long as makinis ako.

Car - I've had my share of commuting until a year ago when I had my first car.  For emergency and security reasons.  Ayoko mahirapan lalo na pag emergency.

Clothes na hind maganda ang tela - I've also had my share of matitigas na fabric na pamasok, yung tiangge style.  Sa stress sa trabaho, pati panty ko dapat kumportable ako.

iPhone -  I don't any more gadgets aside from my preciuos iPhon and Macbook pro.  That's all I need for gadgets.  Kumpleto na ang convenience ko sa email, entertainment and work related stuff.

Matibay na luggage - malaking bagay sa aming mga OFW lalo na pag four wheel at panay uwi sa pinas.  Ayoko magkaroon ng problema sa zipper na di na nagsasara, tapon na agad luggage.  Pag four wheel, ang kumportable lakarin papunta at paalis ng airport.

Appliances - ayoko rin ng madaling masira at madaling cause ng sunog.  I'd rather buy something with brand para may warranty at matibay na na pwede gamitin ng matagalan.

Car for convenience and safety. Mas malaki din yung gastos ko kapag nagtaxi ako.

Traveling/vacation. Once or twice a year will do. I completely agree with sis Summersong why this is such a necessity. It doesn't have to be lavish. For several months you get stuck in a routine, most especially at work, that you tend to feel burned out. That's why a trip somewhere - even for just a week- where you think of nothing else but indulging yourself is enough to revive your whole disposition.

Body massage. At least every payday. Work is stressful and ito ang pinaka-effective na pamparelax sa akin. Takes out the headache and bodyache.

kape. ok lang ang 3-in-1 pero pag may pagkakataon gusto ko talaga ng starbucks or coffee bean kasi masarap talaga saka nakakagising ng diwa. magtitipid ako sa ibang bagay wag lang sa kape ko hehe.

massage. bisyo ko na ito hahaha. wala naman akong bisyong bongga hindi ako mahilig mag-shopping o mamili ng mamahalin. kaya ito necessity talaga sa akin kasi sa dami ng stress sa buhay ito ang isa sa nagpapa-relax sa akin. lahat naman tayo may kanya-kanyang bisyo hehe.

resto. hindi din ako fan ng karinderya. mahilig ako kumain sa labas. ako man mag isa o kasama ang pamilya. pagkain din ang isa sa mga bagay na hindi ko tnitipid.
