for those na nagpa-plan umuwi ng May-June 2014, SR 630 lang round trip airfare sa PAL now 

2 friends ko na ang nagkaroon ng problema/hassles sa PAL.

1. friend 1, planned and booked december-january flight sa PAL (jeddah-manila). as early as they've heard the promo they grabbed it. last week they received an email from PAL na instead of direct flight from jeddah to manila, PAL changed it to jeddah-riyadh (saudia domestic) then riyadh-manila (PAL). they agreed, hindi naman ganoon ang abala. BUT, two days after the first email, came another. this time it totally blew the plans and time management - PAL changed the departure time (from 9pm to 3pm) thus conflicting with the domestic flight (jeddah-riyadh) which is just an hour away to the original 9pm flight. sa inis ng friend ko, bumili nalang siya ng ibang ticket to manila (saudia)...dumping the [textspeak!]-ph flight and only retains the ph-[textspeak!] flight (PAL)...

2. friend 2, the same early booking as friend 1 but scheduled january-feb...the same scenario as PAL changed the flight schedule, this time, departure time lang at walang connecting flight na sinali.

well, my observation is...promos of PAL really made OFWs happy not to mention the feeling of riding your country's airlines. but then, sana naman ayusin nila yung management nila. goodluck sa mga sasakay at nakapag-book na sa PAL.

^ sis, hindi inasikaso ng PAL yung mga connecting flights nila?

dami nga changes kasi sister at friend ko nag-avail din ng promo and Dec-Jan din sila.

yung sa sister ko, 1st na nag-change was her Manila-Riyadh flight nya, naiba ang date - 2 days to be exact. good thing wala naman problema sa work nya. 2nd na nag-change was departure time naman ng Riyadh-Manila flight nya. which is ok lang din sa kanya.

yung sa friend ko, once pa lang nag-change, departure time ng Riyadh-Manila nila and it's ok with her.

i guess ok lang yung PAL promo siguro if you're from Riyadh lang. kapag you'll be coming from Jeddah or Dammam, better think twice muna.

my booking naman is with Saudia. and hindi din exempted sa flight changes, though departure time lang naman. first text notification i received was change in departure time ng Manila-Riyadh. from 3PM, naging 8PM which is better for me. 3 more hours with loved ones eh sayang din  but after 2-3 months, yung departure time naman ng Riyadh-Manila nag-change. delayed ng 4 hours which is not really ok kasi may planned na lakad kami pagdating ko Manila so scrapped na.

^ sis how many weeks or months before the sched flight ng notify ang pal na merong changes sa orig sched?

^ sis, first change was like 4 months, 2nd change was 2 months before the flight.

Dun sa sis na nagtatanong about bringing home TV as check in baggage, 40 inches yung inuwi namin sis last 22Nov lang. Wala kami binayaran sa airport. Actually di nga sya pinansin man lang ng customs, dere derecho lang kami pagkabigay nung small paper.

nasa bakasyon ka pala sis, enjoy the holidays!

kami rin dati mga 3 yrs ago na, nag-uwi din ng tv, wala rin binayaran sa customs..ganoon din deretso lang, no questions asked..saka wala naman dapat bayaran as an OFW ay exempted talaga..yun iba nabiktima lang ng corrupt na customs employee..kaya me print-out akong dala about the exemption clause just in case na makatapat ng corrupt eh me isasampal sa kanya hehe

^Yes kasheica finally, after 14 months nakapag bakasyon din pero busy padin since dumating kami.

Oo nga sis, tinatakot nga kami ng kakilala namin bago kami umuwi up to 39 inches lang daw ang walang tax. Kaya ginawa ko naka print screen din yung exemption ng ofw. Medyo mga bata pa yung nasa customs kaya hindi pa siguro makakapal ang face LOL.

Thanks be to God, smooth pregnancy at still praying hard na hanggang delivery ay matiwasay ang lahat..Do find time to visit your OB, malay mo pag-uwi mo eh BFP ka na..

wow! meron pala thread for Saudi-based GTers.. baka next year magmove na rin kami sa Saudi since may job offer si hubby.. he will be working for aramco and we will be moving with him.. i think we will be staying sa Ar-Rakkah compound.. Any GTers around that area? haist.. i am still at the phase of convincing myself sa pagsama sa husband ko, i have a good job to leave.. pero pagdating sa kingdom i will be in charge of our daughter who will be a K4 in September.. sana may mameet ako na GTers once we move na.

Sis if he will be working in aramco eh magiging magkalapit tayo since khobar area kami ni hubby. Aramco is a very good company. Pangarap ng bawat pinoy na nasa Saudi AFAIK.hehe...

^ganun ba sis.. actually my father in law is also from Aramco.. retiree na rin pero niextend pa rin siya.. bale this year is his second extension. we are hoping din na maextend pa rin siya next year so that may kasama din ako while settling since my mom in law is with him din.. very unexpected din yung offer kay hubby, pero excited din ako since, i saw kung ano yung naitulong ng Aramco sa inlaws ko..

sana sis pag nagsettle kami diyan, mameet ko ikaw and other GTers din sa Saudi.

same reaction tayo sis when I found out that there is a thread for Saudi-based GTers...noon papunta pa lang ako dito hindi ko pa to na-discover kasi nagsurf din ako dati about Saudi life..exactly 1 yr pa lang din ako..home is where the heart is..for sure you will enjoy it here since whole family ay kasama mo...Good luck!

Sis biyach- sure, let me know pag nasa Saudi na kayo. At for sure madami ka mamimeet na pinay sa aramco kasi dami dun. Di mo din problem ang church if catholic ka kasi meron din sila sa loob. Na-try ko magsimba dun once and oks naman.

As long as you are with hubby naman eh oks lang sis. I heard from my friend na naging nurse sa riyadh na true ang mga nare rape at nawawala na talaga or makita man eh binabayaran lang para manahimik then uwi na sa pinas. Basta ingat lang tayo.
