@melodymedley great to see your post about your MP itinerary. We plan to do USA-Peru tour on October 2017. Did you experience altitude sickness in Cusco since it is twice higher than Baguio above sea level?

@aranses: Thankfully I did not experience altitude sickness. Marami din akong nameet na travellers that the altitude did not bother them. May isang girl that she vomited daw for three days when she was in Cuzco because of the altitude, but I think exception yung case nya.

Maybe it helped that I headed to Ollantaytambo after landing in Cuzco. Lower altitude yun. Then from Ollan, I took the train to MP.

Finally, nagbook na kami tickets including train and entrance ticket sa Machu Picchu, pero sa June pa ang travel date namin mag asawa. Kindly pm me sis melodymedley contact numbers ng mga naging driver mo sa Peru. We will be going around Peru (Lima, Arequipa, Nasca, Ica, Paracas, Cusco and Machu Picchu) for 12 days .

^Sis we lived in Peru for almost 2 years and travelled around. I would highly suggest to stay in a lower place like sis MelodyMedley did. We also stayed kasi sa Ollantaytambo when we arrived there to help us acclimatize. Its not biro ha I personally know a friend who didn't make it to MP kasi bf niya had to be brought to a hospital nung nasa Cusco pa lang sila and stayed there for 3 days with oxygen kasi hindi sila nag stay muna sa lower place despite receiving fair warning from me. Kahit hubby ko when we stayed in Cusco after days of staying in Ollan nahilo pa rin and had to rest for a day sa hotel. Depende sa tao but better not take risks kasi sayang naman if you won't see MP. It is magical may kakaibang energy sa taas na hindi ko ma-explain

^yep, change namin itinerary either ollantaytambo or urubamba kami mag stay ng first night bago proceed sa MP. baka hindi namin kayanin high altitude sickness pero magdadala na din ako medicines para sa ganyan.

Isn't MP hard to hike?

^ Kaya naman diy madami naman tour guides pagdating mo sa lugar sis. I've been to Bolivia lang ha never pa sa Chile. Regarding hiking sa MP, you mean from Aguas Calientes to MP or just MP paakyat? I was almost 6 month pregnant when we went there so we didn't hike from AC but going up to MP was quite easy naman ni hindi ako hiningal though I felt like may something magical sa lugar kaya hindi ako nakaramdam ng pagod hehe

In thouse places, madami naman makukuhang daytours? Para sa mejo malalayong spots

^ Yes sis madami sa mga hostels and hotels pa lang nagkalat na sila pwedeng mismong hotel mag-arrange for you or pagdating mo halimbawa sa MP dun lang sa may entrance may tour guide na dun then pwede ka makisabay sa ibang group para cheaper.

Is it true na hindi raw kailangan ng visa going to Peru? Sinabi lang ng friend ko.

^ yep, I've been there. no visa needed. if you want to make a side trip to its neighboring countries like brazil & bolivia, you won't need a visa din sa countries na yun

Sadly, my husband got leg fracture last month. By September (our trip to Peru and Bolivia), kaya na daw nya lakad but with walking stick to support. Sana makayanan nya Machu Picchu hike

@mrs.sweet if you need english speaking driver/tourguide in nasca & huacachina and taxi driver in arequipa let me know, they are very affordable and flexible.

MP is not hard to hike, madami kami nakita tourist from aguas calientes umaakyat papunta sa MP, it took them 30mins to 1.5hrs daw. then from gate of MP to huayna picchu sa experience namin mag asawa umabot kami almost 2hrs paakyat then 1hr pababa, we were not hikers and the only training I did is umakyat sa fire exit ng condo namin from basement to 11th floor months before kami mag travel sa peru. sa experience ng cousin ko  nag 4day inca trail sila to MP, discomfort and terrible, nahirapan sila puro girls. wala liguan, umuulan, madulas ang daan.

goodluck for sure makakaya ng hubby mo umakyat with walking stick, hinay hinay lang.
