mom_c, I'll book at Ovolo 286 ulit for my next trip. Sulit ang stay doon. Small lang ang room but very neat, clean, and accessible sa lahat. Malapit na malapit din sa MTR.

@ms_ldr-once they get off at Admiralty, they should take exit B. Signs are posted everywhere so highly unlikely that people will get lost. A couple of flights of stairs up is the exit itself. Once they get out of exit B, they will see signposts of citybus 629 or ocean Park signs. There are usually men hanging out there who would offer you help but ignore them. A few steps away is the ocean Park ticket booth where you can buy both bus (unless you've an octopus card already or prefer coins)  and park tickets. The line to board the 629 bus is right beside the booth.

Hi. May marerecommend ba kayo na hotel na malapit na malapit lang sa airport? Dadating kase kame ng hong kong ng mga past 10pm na. Ayaw na namin dumayo sana. Mahal ng taxi. 20 HKD flag down rate tapos may additional 5HKD per bagahe. Overnight lang naman tapos lipat din kami ng hotel sa TST. Thanks

yes sis yapeegurl, mas maliit yata Ovolo 286 sa Ovolo 256 pero mas malapit si Ovolo 286 sa mtr. Kasi kay Ovolo 256 mga 10mins walk pa sa mtr.. highly recommended talaga ang mga Ovolo, clean, high speed internet, mini bar and unlimited drinks with breakfast.. antay ko pa sis yung latest Ovolo nila mag open malapit yata sa ocean park last quarter of this year daw mag open eh..

^ay magkaiba pala si 286 and 256 hehe Hindi ko napansin ang number. Si 286 around 5mins going to Sheung Wan MTR. I agree with high speed internet. Natuwa din ako sa free bag nila kasi that time I forgot to bring an extra cloth bag for my dirty laundry. Sa loot bag meron mga M&Ms, candies na freebie din. Mababait pa ang mga staff na local.

and what hotel can you recommend na budget friendly pero nice and safe naman.

^don't be afraid to travel HK alone. many people travel to HK alone, mostly for business, but even for leisure. and HK's transport system is excellent - even the interconnections between the different lines.

about the "budget-friendly" hotel, what's your "budget" range? several people can have different "budget" thresholds. but what i can recommend is to get a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui area, masayang maglakad-lakad during the night within the area kasi daming stalls/shops. check out Agoda, you'll get an idea about the price range and the location (they have a map on where the hotel is) - pick one that is close to the MTR station because MTR will be your travel bestfriend.

heavensent, when I booked Ovolo 286 last Sep 6-8, it was 5,650 pesos per night. Since it will be your first time to travel, here are some tips:

1. For your hotel, browse them thru Agoda. Search for a hotel near the MTR station.
2. Download Hong Kong MTR map
3. Use google maps to have a view of your hotel to the nearest MTR
4. I haven't used HK's bus system. Sa mga bus stops na nakita ko kasi walang English translation ng bus stops.
5. Purchase an Octopus card for your MTR trips. Search ka about Octopus card.
6. Taxi fare medyo mahal. From Tsim Sha Tsui MTR to the airport, we spent 1,600 pesos.
7. Search ka sa internet for the places of your interest to plan your itinerary.

^agree, ginto ang taxi sa HK sis. sobrang nadala ako nong umabot ng 1,000+ pesos yong metro namin buti pa sa SG kahit papano makatarungan & minsan sosyal pa kasi limo

^hahaha true! But in all fairness malayo layo naman talaga si TST to Airport. Pero ang hassle lang sa HK Airport taxi, pati luggage meron fee. Dito naman sa SG, may airport charge na 5SGD agad plus mga peak hour surcharge.

Isa pa pala na hassle para sa akin sa HK ay walang taxi stand. Scarcity.

Since it will be your first time, stay at a hotel or hostel located in Causeway Bay or  Tsim Sha Tsui kasi maraming shops and restaurants sa areas na yon.  Don't take the bus although siya at yung tram ang cheapest mode of transportation sa hk. Take the MRT and the airport express from the airport to your hotel. Kelangan lang magbus if you plan to go to the prada outlet or sa horizon (the building that houses the outlets of well-known brands like max mara, lane crawford (rustan's ng hk), boss etc.). Well okay din magbus from airport to the city kasi may mga announcements in English and they stop near various hotels pero depende kasi yan on where you will be staying and for me mas convenient mag airport express lalo na if first time mo sa hk .

Mas ok talaga if sa golden crown mag stay even if you're alone. Filipina pa yung receptionist/helper and very helpful then may discounted tickets pa sa mga attractions.

For me worth it naman pero you have to manage your expectations. Since outlet siya limited lang sizes nila sa shoes and clothes so if may magustuhan kang style possible na di available sa size mo and past season na yung stocks nila. This year nakabili kami ng friends ko ng seven jeans at 50% off. May mga shoes (flats and heels) din kami nabili sa lane crawford at 30% off. Yung isang friend ko nakabili ng blouse sa joyce for a good price. If interested ka sa repetto flats, may store din na nagbebenta dun.
