Pregnancy VS work (Advice Please)
« on: August 07, 2013, 10:47:22 pm »
Hello dearies especially sa mga preggy :)

I just need an advice...

I've been working since I graduated in college so it's 4 years since then,, I'm 25 y/o and currently on my 18 weeks pregnancy.. Before pa ako ma preggy, I'm really decided to apply na to other company (low pay, bored narin) but then eto dumating si baby.. It's so easy to resign with my condition.. Tapos everyday, I travel 2hrs (minsan 2 1/2 hrs pa) from home to office.. Commute! Sa condition ko ngayon alam ko na hindi na yun advisable, tapos everyday pa ako may nararamdaman na masakit.. tummy, lower back...

Suddenly, nirecommend ako sa office for officership training.. in short, promotion! Ayoko naman mag decide kaagad so I went on the training which will end this August, 3 mos lang sya and tingin ko naman papasa ako... Anong gagawin ko mga sis... Hubby is so pissed na pinatatagal ko pa daw yung resignation ko, ayaw na nyang hintaying mag 7mos ako sa work dahil super delikado na wag naman sana but you know yung mga pre mature dba... Ayoko rin non...

I can't decide.... I'm given until end of august para mag decide..

One thing more, will it affect my career once I decided to apply to other company next year after I gave birth? Of course I'll give time for myself muna to rest after delivery mga 2 mos then apply na ulet.. Will it affect given my decision last year...???

Any advice? TIA!

Hi sis I can understand your dilemma I used to think about that same problem before I just finished my masters degree and I was decided to work na I got an offer that would really make me think twice but then I found out that I was pregnant it wasn't planned pero I wouldn't trade my baby's safety and mine for that job. You're still young and you can always tell them that you got pregnant thats why you slowed down. Now im pregnant with baby number 2 and I haven't even started working  :P . So based on my experience and just my opinion maybe you should slow down and take care of yourself and your baby.  :)

Unless your doctor has put you on bed rest and diagnosed your pregnancy as high-risk, I see no reason why you should not continue to work.  Lots of pregnant women continue working during pregnancy and after giving birth.  Amethyst08 has given you the pros and cons of quitting.  It's up to you to decide.

Most HR managers and job recruiters also view more favorably an application where the applicant is currently employed rather than the application of an applicant na nabakante for months - although you can easily explain naman why you quit, but then again, it may give the recruiter an opportunity to question your commitment and staying power.

hi TS, share ko lang my condition right now. I am 29 weeks and on my 5th month i was confined due to threatened abortion nag ccontract kasi ako madalas. but that did not give me a reason to resign kasi hindi naman sinabi ng OB ko na ganun kadelikado pregnancy ko or kaya ko pa naman,
like what other sisses advice sayang ang sss maternity benefit at iba pang makukuha mo. and besides may "special" treatment naman ang preggy sa office. they cannot force or push you to do a certain job. pag nakita na nila na nahihirapan ako, they won't push me. if you don't feel like going to work or masama pakiramdam mo then file ka ng leave. or if nahihirapan ka sa pregnancy mo, tell your OB that you need to rest for a week or two
iissue-han ka naman ng med cert and may makukuha ka din sa sss for sickness reimbursement sa sss.

grabe nga lang ang travel time mo, kasi hindi talaga advisable ang long travel kapag pregnant ako nga i work in ayala and i live in makati around 10 mins travel time, hindi ko kinaya ang walk from my office to smart tower (loading bay) everyday so ayun, madalas naninigas ang tiyan ko. anong ginawa ko at ng husband ko? husband works near my office, his work starts at 9am my work starts at 7am, pumapasok siya ng 7am we bring our car then taxi nalang ako pauwi. a little sacrifice kasi sayang din ang kikitain sa work at mga benefits na makukuha ko.

bottom line is, ask ka muna sa OB mo kung kakayanin mo. im sure, ma-bbore ka din kapag nag resign ka at hahanapin mo ang monthly pay. :) have a safe pregnancy!

Thank you for all the replies.. :)

Well yung work ko kasi ngayon is masasabi kong hindi ganon ka worth it... at kung benefits lang ang pag uusapan, sss lang ang makukuha ko which is makukuha ko rin naman kahit resigned n ako.. ang difference lang is ako ang magpprocess sa sss.. walang health card etc... 13th month yes dahil mandatory yon. other than that, no benefits.. and yes I travel 2-2 1/2 hrs everyday.. hindi ako pwedeng mag taxi ng ganon kalayo..

But then eto nga na ipopromote ako, basic lang ang madadagdag.. benefits wala talaga.. nahihiya rin kasi ako na palaging naka SL eh.. ayun..

btw sis cerelina, so never ka pang nag work?

pero salamat parin sa advices nyo sisters.. I'm really having a hard time now to decide...

^nag work ako prior to getting pregnant I was teaching gen chemistry sa isang university tapos I got married in the sam with year I graduated from my ms degree since then I haven't worked kasi pregnant nanaman ako. I wouldn't sacrifice my health and my baby's kaya ayun resign muna ako tumatanggap ako ng mga sideline na consultation so I can work at home pero super dalang naman nun kaya ayun wala din ako income yun lang yung mejo ayoko kasi hindi ako nasanay na walang cash on hand but my husband gives budget naman kaya lang hindi ko mabili yung mga gusto ko but other than that ok naman ako ngayon na walang work

Depende to sa priorities mo Sis and sa state ng pagbubuntis mo. If you have a clearance from your OB that you can continue working and that includes commuting to and fro, malaki ang maitutulong nito sa finances nyo regardless kung very basic lang ang compensation and benefits ng current work mo. From what I know sa SSS, kung ano ang sweldo mo now, icocover yan ng employer and SSS during your maternity leave. Hati sila. So kung hindi ka na nagwowork at that time, I'm guessing hindi mo makukuha ng buo yon. Though I'm not dead sure about this ah.

Una lagi ang safety ninyo ni baby. Kasunod nun ang future nya at ninyong pamilya. Kung kayang pagsabayin, I say go for it.

Try to weigh things first. You told us your story pero hindi naman kami pwede mag decide for you because we really do not know how important your career is. But If you think that it's something na kaya mo namang maabot in the right time, then it's better to focus on your pregnancy and family first. If you think your husband is financially stable naman to support the 2 of you in case you decide to resign and take care of your baby, then it's fine. But If naguguluhan ka because your career is important for you as well as your family, then I suggest you take a leave aside pa sa maternity leave mo.

I'm sure may ganung benefit yung company mo. Maselan din yung pregancy ko noon and I was also working. I was even hospitalized for preterm labor. So I asked my Ob If there's anything I can do. She gave me a medical certificate that i can give to our HR. kapag nakita kasi nila yun na request na siya from your OB, sila na mismo pipilit sayo to take a leave. so, i took a leave when I was 7 months preganct until nanganak ako. =)

Mahaba yung pahinga ko pero may binalikan parin akong work 2 months after i got pregnant.

HTH!
