Just found out from my onco prof that insurance (both here and abroad) does not cover cancer chemotherapy drugs.

I had life insurance na and I notice na wala kasamang Critical Illness from the time na kinuha ko to since wala pa ako masyadong alam sa insurance nun. Now na tumatanda na naging importante saken ang health. Planning to get health insurance alone na walang halong life since meron na akong life insurance. Any recommendation?

Hi sis. Sa Sunlife there's a separate Policy for cancer only and separate din for critical illness.  Not everyone knows it but I do because I am a financial advisor and it was just discussed to us by Ms Jen raymundo. She will be featured in Money Talk in ANC Channel this week. :)

Hello sis. I'm a financial advisor from sunlife. We already have an HMO type for a Critical Illness alone if you dont want a rider in your VUL plan. Should you be interested for a presentation, just send me pm. :) Thank you.

Pag HMO- choose either Medicard or Maxicare individual plans.

My friend had chemotherapy sessions for 1 year, but Axa did not cover all the sessions.

can I still buy life insurance for senior age family members and assign myself as the irrevocable beneficiary?

Hi Agape,

I think there's an age limit kung sinoman ang kukuhanan mo ng life insurance (less than 60 y.o perhaps), and the older he/she is, the more expensive the premium is.  And then you as the payor ng insurance nila can be their beneficiary (irrevocable kung gusto).  They need to sign in the papers to confirm.  Knock on wood, wag lang sana ang anak ang mauna kaysa parents.  Or it's best na may insurance ka rin na nakapangalan sa 'yo...

Hi Sis! My hubby is a Philam Life legal and financial advisor. Their Health Invest plan bundles critical illness (CI) and accident and health (A&H) riders, among others. Chemotherapy drugs can be covered because the benefit amount is released upon diagnosis of any of the critical illnesses, which includes cancer. The money derived therefrom can be used for any purpose in the discretion of the insured. It can even be used for bucket list activities instead of your medical expenses.  ;)

Thanks for this. I shall inquire! :)

Tama yung sa Bluecross meron nga for over 65yo pero uber mahal! Pero if masusulit mo with their regular checkups and all worth it naman siguro.  ;)

Yung sa Maxicare, may certain number of session na covered ang chemo though I am not sure if this is available on individual availment. Company healthcard kasi yung samin. I would like to think na depende sa package/type ng plan/program na ia-avail.  :D

I'd like to separate my investments sa healthcare ko and insurance para kasi to distribute my money on several baskets. What if may nangyari sa company ng life insurance ko ano? Eh, byebye na din ba sa investments ko?

I've read this book by Suze Orman. She said na sa mga life insurance, malaki yung singil kasi usually for the first year na binabayaran mo yung premium mo, 80%-90% of that go to the agents' commission. Imagine that.

Kaya ako, aral nlg personal finance through crediable books, financial seminars and a finance group (whose purpose is financial literacy for all Filipinos). I'd like to eliminate the middle man sa mga personal finance transactions ko para makatipid na din and to take the total control.  ;D
Sis, I like your approach and thank you for your input! ;D I ask around my friends rin about insurance and will need to read up more pa. Nakakainis lang sa ibang friends ko, they don't know(or don't want to share or lazy to share lol!) the details of the insurance they availed(or difference to others/other options) basta sasabihan ka na lang nila ng go talk to an agent. Parang feeling ko lalaban sa gera ng walang alam. Natutuwa pa kasi ako to know the details and the comparison before talking to an agent. Kasi natatakot ako na once I approach an agent they will custom what I want to the products they have hehe. Saka nagrresearch pa ako to what's best suited for me.

I've put off getting an insurance and now I'm 30. I'm afraid to think it's too late.  :-\
