oreo, another concern there is malaki pram mo. same with ours, not sure if they have a pram/stroller compartnet sa eroplano mismo. we had a zapp before, maliit lang when folded so i can imagine kahit saan pwede nila isuksok but for bigger ones, san kaya?

that's why i understand you if checking in is an option although i think we have to expect the worst if so. kahit 1st class airlines minsan may sablay din sa paghandle ng bagahe.

if checked in, make sure the pram is securely on its bag tapos i think i saw from some blogs may luggage wrapping service at Au airport. this is my favorite in changi, expensive at 15sgd i think for each bag but nice

thank you for the replies, ladies :) I will just bring the pram with us hanggang sa boarding gate

cutie_05, yes I'm traveling with my Mum... we're staying overnight sa airport hotel sa singapore (flight is arriving midnight in SNG and noon pa the next day ang flight namin to MNL)

pinkpotato, I'm sure naman I'm not the first one to fly Singapore Air with a Bugaboo :) we're not bringing the bassinet so hopefully that saves some space too!

may bad experience ako sa pram last time na nag travel kami from SG to MLA.
this time we are travelling via jetstar hopefully mas maayos pag handle ng pram.

ladies, forgot to ask... I don't remember kasi siguro I never took notice... :-\

in Changi, diba before you get inside the boarding gate, they have to xray pa your carry ons, laptops etc? Meron bang special line ang parents travelling with babies? Also, pano ini-xray ang pram? Kelangan ba i disassemble pa?

^Sis Oreo08, Parang wala.  When we travelled before (June 2013) I remember queuing dun sa normal line nila.  Parang wala naman akong nakitang special lane for those travelling with kids.  Regarding sa pram, ilalagay din kase yun sa xray machine so kung foldable yung pram, ifofold siya then lagay doon sa machine.  In our case since hiwalay yung upuan sa wheels ng pram.. I remember my husband separating the body from the wheels :)

^Woah!ang dami! :o kaya yan..papunta bang manila?Based from experience, normally mga Filipino naman makakasabay mo (well, most of them) and kapag may baby mas considerate sila so nagaantay sila hehe (or di ko lang napansin kung meron man impatient kase aligaga din ako kay baby haha!) :) happy trip! :)

^one carry on, baby's diaper bag (this is our large travel bag), pram and laptop na lang dala namin... and magdadala rin ako ng sling para pag kelangan kargahin si baby, dun ko sya lagay muna

worry ko na lang ngayon ay kung bibigyan ko ng benadryl si bubs :( or some natural herbs to promote sleep. Matining ang sigaw nito e! For sure, gising whole economy, business, at mga pilotong tulog!!

Priceless

^^Hi sis, ganyan din an fear ko dati (well up to now) na hindi ko mapapatahan si Baby. I actually researched on what possible OTC medicine I can give him na may drowsiness effect pero I was told by the doctor here na unless the baby is more than 1 year old, they don't tend to give anything without a doctor's prescription.

Tapos may nabasa din ako na imbes na naka-relax or naka-drowsy yung gamot, lalo pang nag iyak yung baby dahil they were fighting the drowsiness kumbaga at yung iba, lalo pang naging hyper active. Kinabahan din ako kasi personally, may ibang cough and cold medicines that when I take it, I get palpitations...so I decided in the end not to medicate my baby.

My suggestion is that you get the bassinet seat + bassinet, tapos pag umiyak na si baby, (as long as the seatbelt sign is off), carry him/her to the nearest galley area, or kung may area in between the cabins na curtained off, then stay there until he/she calms down. Dala ka ng maraming pang entertain - like books, ipad, teether, dummy or you can even "introduce" a new toy na hindi pa nya nalaro or nahawakan before para he/she can burn some energy "discovering" it.

As for prams, you can bring it up to the plane doors where they will give you a plastic bag to put it in. If you're worried about it, you can get your own travel bag for the pram pero just remember na dagdag hassle lang din. I think with SQ we didn't have any problems with our pram and the way they handled it. I asked the counter for a "fragile" tag to be put on it na rin pero the check in agent said no need na - baka ikaw you might like this option.

But I guess, kanya-kanya, depende sa airport and airline. Galing kami nun from JFK.

^ay kainis naman yun. Did they do that even if you packed it in a travel bag?

Sa SQ kasi they give you a big bag (you can request it pag dating mo sa boarding gate pa lang) to put your pram in and you can seal it yourself. That's why I didn't need to bring a separate travel bag na.

Next time I travel I will request an extra plastic bag and I'll keep it nalang for future trips - just in case they don't provide one at the door.

^no sis, no travel bag was offered and I didn't ask kasi di ko na alam na may ganun. It could help para di marumihan yung pram. Ours was checked-in kasi.

Priceless, her GP and pedia will prescribe us daw pampatulog just in case. Also, I will do a test run of it days before our flight so I can see how she reacts to it. No way will I give her something for the first time during our flight. Nabasa ko rin yan na sometimes it can make the baby hyper pa.

I'm also thinking na baka something natural ang bigay ko sa kanya like chamomile tea (not strong)... so instead of water sa milk nya, yun tea yun bigay ko

^May I know how old your daughter is? I am pretty surprised why you would decide to medicate your daughter when there really is no need to do so rather than for your convenience?

Bring distractions and activities for your child. Indulge her in his/her favorite activities. Bring lots of food, drinks toys, videos, etc. I've traveled twice with my daughter when she was 10 months and though it wasn't exactly smooth sailing, we got thru it, to think my daughter is a very very fussy baby who doesn't sleep when we are out. Add to that, we were an early morning flight at 7AM and had to wake my baby up from her sleep at 3AM. On the way home naman we were at the airport for 7 hours before getting on the plane due to a flight cancellation. We got thru it without any medication.

^my daughter will be 5 months old when we travel and I'm not giving her something for MY own convenience. I am not a selfish mother and for you to assume that is highly judgmental on YOUR part and VERY offensive to me.

You do NOT know my daughter. My daughter is very, very fussy as well and she cannot sleep without being rocked and held. Even then, she would still scream at the top of her lungs. She would scream when she gets overstimulated by playing and she would scream when she wants to sleep but can't fall asleep because of too much distractions. My daughter is NOT like YOUR daughter. How would you know that there's no need for medication? Did I say I'm gonna give her the maximum dosage? Did it ever occur to you that I might, just might, give her a fraction of the prescribed amount by her doctor? Also, that's why I'm looking into other natural alternatives nga diba like chamomile or lemon balm?

Good for you that you didn't have to use a medication. But just because YOU didn't doesn't mean other parents with babies screaming like banshees doesn't have to either.

Point is - you do not know my daughter. You do not know me. Hindi mo alam na ayoko manggising ng buong eroplano when she cries. Well, marami akong reasons but I don't need to explain them to you :P

ANYWAY...

ladies, how did you pack your bottles and formula? (yes she's formula fed, any mothers out there have a problem with that? :P)

is it better to put water sa bottles nya and the formula sa milk dispenser?
or
powdered formula sa bottles and then just buy a big bottle of Evian sa airport?

I'm also bringing a ring sling with me in case my daughter gusto lang karga all the time... I decided to buy a ring sling instead of taking our Ergo carrier with us kasi the sling madali ifold and ilagay sa bag... the Ergo is bulky.

Now I'm thinking if we should just get our Bugaboo checked in kung nasa sling naman parati si baby...

Priceless

^My baby is mostly breastfed but when we travelled I also had formula as a back up. What I did was to pack 5 servings of the formula sa milk dispenser then I put half of the desired amount of boiled water in the bottle.  For example, my baby takes 8oz of milk every 4 hours, I had 2 bottles ready for formula, each bottle had 4oz of cooled boiled water in it. My plan was to top it up with hot water from the plane (hingi ako sa FA) para medyo mainit-init pa and easy to dissolve the powder (my son like his milk warm).

Don't buy a big bottle of water at the airport especially at Changi, because they will ask you to dispose of it, especially if more than 100ml, before you enter the boarding gate. You can ask for mineral water on board if you prefer that (instead of the hot water), if I remember correctly, SQ serves Evian.

As for your pram, it depends how long ang stay nyo sa airport and if there is any possibility of getting delayed. Kung sandali lang and kung hindi naman madedelay, then a ring sling would probably be fine. Personally even if I brought my carrier with me on board, I also had the pram with us all the way to the gate, kasi mas comfortable si baby at ako, and nakakatakot baka pag na-check in ko ang pram mawala pa/hindi makarating sa destination, especially if I am changing airlines/transiting. Besides, I thought if I checked my pram in, mas malaki ang chances na itapon-tapon sya at tambakan ng ibang luggage at cargo at masira. Samantalang if I give it at the gate, it will likely be stored on top of other cargo, and with similar items (other prams, etc).

^thanks Priceless! I guess enroute to Singapore from Adelaide, I will fill her bottles with water and her powdered formula, in her milk dispenser. Baby doesn't like her milk cold or room temp either but I will try and make her get used to it before we leave in a month!

From Singapore to Manila naman, I will just fill her bottles with powdered formula and just ask for Evian inflight.

We arrive in Singapore a bit past midnight and our flight to MNL is 12noon pa. But we are staying at the airport hotel overnight (checking out at 8am)... that gives us about 3.5 hours leisure time before boarding. The reason why I'm a bit apprehensive with the pram is because even though my Mum is traveling with us, she's a senior citizen so I will still be doing pretty much everything. As I've mentioned before, we are bringing a laptop, a big duffel bag as baby's diaper bag, one wheeled carry on luggage, plus the pram that I need to assemble and disassemble myself :-\ I'm no longer using a shoulder bag, nor will my Mum. We will just put our travel documents in a big wallet (so to speak) inside the diaper bag. Hay... I'm worrying about things way too much. Sorry, this is my OCD kicking in!

Ahhh another thing... have you used Milton sterilising tablets? I bought some to test it out but it smells like bleach! I'm worried it's not safe :-\ pag ako nainis, I will just bring 8 bottles which I've sterilised at home and not worry about sterilising at the airport or at the hotel. Bubs is turning 4 months next week and she takes 5-6.5 oz of milk every 4-5 hours so IF she sticks to that schedule, she will only feed once or twice on our flight to Singapore and maybe once (or none at all) on our flight to Manila.

^i brought bottles with water na and then formula in the container. i thought it would be a problem sa airport given that the water is more than the prescribed limit for security, but it wasn't. Im afraid to use water other than wilkins, kasi not sure if the water provided in the plane are distilled. for the sling, it's very helpful especially if you have carry-ons kasi mahirap na dalin si baby. I used my ergo, very convenient and useful talaga, although bulky sya but I prefer it kasi di masakit sa likod and the baby is comfortable.
