Hi everyone, my husband and I are planning to go to LA next year, for maybe 10 days only. We're unsure if we want to take our baby with us.  She'll be about 1.5 years old by then. Is LA a baby friendly place? Is it easy to go around with a baby (we're planning to get a car if that makes a difference)? Are there nice, safe places for her to walk or run around? Lots of kid friendly areas? We're also planning to go around September, if that makes a difference as well. Thanks!

Edited to add: We're not planning to hit Disneyland just yet. So are there places there except Disneyland that's good for a 1.5 year old? Not an infant any more, but not quite a toddler yet either.

AFAIK, wala. When we went there, naghanap din ako pero wala. But that was 4 years ago. The best option for you sis is buy after leaving the airport. Sa Best Buy or Walmart meron dun mga prepaid sim starter kit at may mga top-ups din un tapos activate mo na lang by online. Sa online mo na din malalaman ang number mo. I hope this helps

Yeah meron. I bought mine dun sa arrivals area, in the currency exchange counter past CBTL.

Edit: This is a T-mobile sim card and includes unli text to anywhere in the world (yes, including pinas), unli calls and data good for 30 days. I forgot na how much this was, siguro around $100.

T-mobile offers Tourist Prepaid Plan for $30/21 days pala. Unli text, 1000 mins call and 2GB data. Not bad na, good thing kumuha kami kasi ang hirap ng walang phone! We used it for Lyft/Uber, tsaka for searching when on the go. Malakas naman signal ng internet kahit nasa bundok bundok kami :P

(Grab partnered with Lyft, so no need to download the App. Just use the Grab app, automatic magiging Lyft when you're in the US)

Also, re: my question regarding going around Hollywood. We used Lux Bus. Bale from Anaheim (we stayed at Marriott for Disneyland), we were picked up by the bus. Inikot kami sa Hollywood, The Grove and Sta Monica/Venice beach. $58 siya via Viator.com. They will take you back sa hotel niyo, or you can ask to be drop off sa may Sta Monica/Venice, then find your way back to LA area na.

For Universal, like Missus O said, we took the Metro red line. Tapos they have a free shuttle service to Universal City Walk na. Walang hirap naman. Nung kami nalang ng Mom ko, and wala ng kids, we used the Metro na rin. Good thing 5 mins walk lang siya away from my cousin's house. Sinulit na namin :) Took my Mom to my favorite - Old Town Pasadena hehe puro kainan na pala unlike 4 years ago na puro shops.

Oh, we tried the LAX Flyaway rin. Puro plane kasi kami from SF, Vegas and Texas. From LAX, take the Flyaway to Union Station/Van Nuys/Hollywood. $9 lang. Pwede na kesa laging magpasundo sa LAX, nakakahiya rin sa pinsan ko hehe. And super traffic din.

Yep may prepaid sim na nabibili sa LAX, it's located in arrival area newer CBTL and Information area. Bought mine at $105, which is mahal pala. Kapag sa labas like walmart etc, $40 lang good for a month din, unli call and text with data

Travelling to LA next month! Yay!

Please help sa iti namin.. Okay ba na 5 days sa Anaheim, then 5 days sa LA? Or 3 days LA, 3 days Anaheim tapos balik LA 3-4 days?We want to do Disneyland muna tapos ibang places na.. Hotel recommendations please.. Sa car rentals ba mas okay magbook in advance online or okay na din yung sa airport? Will be bringing along our 16 month old baby..

my husband got used to the driving here pretty fast... although marami silang rule breakers :P cut you off, dire direcho walang pakielam kung give way or what, di nagsisignal kung mag change lanes ;D

mabilis nga sila magpatakbo kasi kahit may speed limit, di naman naeenforce as in once lang kami nakakita na nanghuhuli and that was near Desert Hills na. Comparing it to Australia, dami talaga panghuli dun (unmarked police cars with camera parked sa gilid gilid, speed cameras by the traffic lights etc) so you really have to follow or else, you'll be fined and demerit points pa! Revenue making rin ito ng government haha!

BUT I'm impressed with how the freeways are designed kasi even if you miss an exit, the next one pwde ka ibalik sa same freeway you were on or pwde naman diff route. Dami kasi comments na naku if u miss ur exit, ang layo na ng iikutin mo! Di naman pala!

Also, kahit a bit congested during rush hour, gumagalaw naman unlike sa Manila na walang galawan!

I'm really enjoying it here! Porto's cheese rolls are yummy! And I prefer Shake Shack over In-N-Out. Outlet shopping is OMG grabe!!!! I died! Haha! We have to come back!

Has anyone here experienced taking the train from LA to SFO?  Yung Starlight Cruise or something.  I just wanna ask if it's okay to just book 2 roomettes than 1 bedroom for the overnight train.  4 kasi kami, 2 adults and 2 kids below 12.  Baka hindi kami kasya sa bedroom?  Any inputs will be appreciated.  Thanks! :)

^you mean the Coast Starlight? Haven't tried that route but I've taken the California Zephyr and Lakeshore Limited. We've stayed at both their roomettes and bedroom. I prefer the viewliner bedroom (good for two adults) since it has more room. In your case book their Family bedroom that can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children.

Here's the link to Amtrak's Family Bedroom details: https://www.amtrak.com/servlet/Satellite?SnippetName=IBLegacy&pagename=am/AM_Snippet_C/SnippetWrapper&accomm=Family%20Bedroom

Waaaahhh i'm so excited!! I'm dropping by California after a business trip. I'll be spending 2.5 days in San Francisco, 4 days in LA, and 1 day in Vegas.

For the 4 days in LA, i'm thinking:
1st day: Disney World
2nd day: Hollywood and other regular tourist spots
3rd-4th day: Shopping & Food trucks (yes, i love foodtripping so much that i will hunt down food trucks)

I kinda regretted booking hotels for 2 nights in San Francisco after learning it's just a very small city... I didn't research well before i booked the hotels (yeah i know it's stupid). I kinda thought afterwards that I should've just spent most time in LA... i just hope I get to maximize LA within 4 days...

I have an aversion on casinos so i'm not too excited about going to Vegas so 1 day should be fine. The only reason i'm going to Vegas for 1 day is because my aunt has a new house 15mins away from Vegas and she's really excited to show it off.

But anyway, i am so incredibly excited for my California trip!!!!

We will be in LA next month for 4 nights. We will be driving from Vegas ( 4nights din kami don) then from LA, SFO na for 6 nights.

We booked in Radisson Hotel, LA Midtown at USC. Ok ba location nito mga sis?

We don't have an itinerary yet as I'm so confused with all the must sees and must dos. Ok ba mag umbrella in LA?  hate ko kasi ang sun. hahahaha

^i stayed in LA for more than a month before and parang ako lang naguumbrella sis  ::) pero okay lang yan, wala namang pakialamanan doon  ;D

Must see:
Disneyland (i love Anaheim, very nice place)
Hollywood, Madame Tussads Museum
Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive
Citadel outlet

Mas okay weather sa SFO, i stayed in Daly city. If you like shopping you might want to visit the 5-storey Ross store at SFO downtown..

I just came from the US: 3nights in SF, 5nights in LA, 1night in Vegas.

Before anything else, regarding sa payong, KAINIS, walang nagpapayong! Eh i didn't want to stand out as a "tourist" so di rin ako nagpayong so nasunog ako! I had this intense fear of homeless people (some of them are mentally unstable so bigla na lang nagsasalita, few aggressively) and fear of muggers (I know people who got mugged in the US), so in order to look like a local, di ako nagpayong. Kainis nasunog balat ko.

Anyway, so I find LA so ordinary. I didn't like LA. Kahit Hollywood, i found "blah". Pang-check lang ng bucket list para lang masabi na nakapag-LA.

San Francisco - I LOVED. My goodness! But since this is an LA thread, i'm not gonna say much else so as not to go out of topic.

Anyway back to LA. Disney is always fun. I just bought 1-day hopper for both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure - MISTAKE! I should've bought a 2-day hopper tapos nag-overnight sa Disney hotel. Kasi when i went there, sobrang daming tao super!

Just got back from LA. We stayed in an airbnb sa Van Nuys area and rented a car from Budget. For the Hollywood Celebrity homes tour, I booked a tour via airbnb experience. We also got a photographer from airbnb who took our pictures at LACMA, Beverly Hills and Melrose, pang-instagram LOL.

Anyway, if anybody's planning to go to LA next Thanksgiving, just be aware na everything is closed. We went to DTLA that day and it was a ghost town. Wala kami makainan but El Pollo Loco 😂

I enjoyed eating at:
Musso and Frank
Porto's
Canter's Deli
The Boiling Crab
Kogi Taqueria

In n Out, hmmm nice to try..but not remarkable

Ang saya magshop sa Citadel! We also did early Black Friday sale starting 6pm ng Thanksgiving, ang saya! Madaming tao pero kung sanay ka naman sa sale sa Philippines, e kayang kaya ang Black Friday Sale, except na lang sa super discounted appliances and gadgets. :)
