^Miles per hour kasi ang gamit dito sa US. Normally for freeways ay 65-70 miles/hour.  They will indicate naman. And major roads and other thoroughfare ranges from 25-45. That's for the state of California. In fairness, mas maganda naman dito mag drive compared sa Pinas.  I don't know kung saan kayo nagdrive, but there maybe a reason kung bakit sila biglang nagstostop. Mas may discipline ang karamihan ng drivers dito. Hindi ko sasabihing lahat, kasi madami din ditong immigrants.  Yung iba eh dala ang ugali nila galing sa bansa nila. Ipapasa lang ang exam, and after nun, panget na uli magdrive. But karamihan ay may disiplina. I'm a student driver, I've been driving with instructors for quite some time, kaya ko nasasabi  napakalaki ng difference.

aranses, the speed limits sound okay naman... we also drive quite fast (I guess) here in Australia... highways have speed limits of 90kmh to 110kmh. If you drive well under the speed limit, there are drivers that will tailgate talaga (my hubby included )

I'm sure we'll be fine. Just noting down observations.

The thing that made me more scare super dami car sa LA at lahat mabibilis takbo. I drove 160km/hr in dubai no problem with me, sa florence masikip ang street pero maayos ko naidrive.

Observation ko lang offensive driver mostly sa california. May instance papasok kami sa exit ng El Segundo and I was running around 140km/hr or around 65mph bigla huminto sa harap ko then change lane siguro hindi siya doon dapat mag exit, grabe takot ko kasi bigla preno siya so domino effect na yan and mabilis ang takbo namin. the car behind me mabuti na lang 3 cars away from me, ayun nabusinahan tuloy kami ng nasa likod. kaloka lang talaga. saka pag nagswerve sila ng lane medyo preno muna sila then mabagal sila papasok sa kabila lane kaya affected tuloy nasa likod niya.

Sa pinas kasi nasanay ako 60km/hr lang kasi lagi traffic!

^yeah. nagkamali ako, 140kph is around 80mph+. actually tip sa amin ng friend namin from san jose goes with the flow kung ano speed ng karamihan ng car ganun gawin namin kaya madalas overspeeding ako. Pero opinion ko lang naman na nastress talaga ako magdrive sa LA kahit from SFO to LA very stressful magdrive, winding road tapos mabibilis talaga sila.

Who has the best 4G coverage in LA? Is it AT&T? We need a prepaid sim kasi.

Will there still be cheese rolls by 6pm? We're arriving before 12noon but we'd rather rest first before heading out... we were thinking about buying a dozen of cheese rolls and having them for brekkie over the next few days. But baka wala na if we go there late?

^ I think T-mobile and AT&T are alright. Wouldn't know about the prepaid, because we've got line but so we have no problem with T-Mobile. We've got unli calls, text and internet. Other mobile providers kasi have limited internet. Porto's is open till 8pm.  Hope this helps.

Yep, I checked the Porto's opening hours and know they're open til late... I was concerned lang na the cheese rolls get sold out by mid day or something. if that's the case kasi we won't bother driving to Porto's at 6pm kung wala na pala

^you can always call in to order. That's what my SIL does every time she has guests coming over na alam nyang favorite yung cheese rolls (kasama na kami dun lol!). Not sure lang if they will require a deposit but at least you're assured of the pastry when you get to their shop.

Hi, gumdrops26! My husband and I are using prepaid AT&T at $45/30 days. It has unlimited calls and sms plus a 2GB LTE data (after, it throttles to 2G). So far, so good. Signal is great and we have been using it for almost 4 weeks now from NYC to LA to Vegas. Reached the data allocation a after 2 weeks because of Google Maps/Waze 😅

^^thanks mama squeak! I was thinking of calling rin... or getting my relatives to call, but I saw sa website na minimum order is 2 4 dozen. I'm not sure if we'll finish 2 4 dozen or baka magsawa but if it's realllyyy good then that might be our breakfast/merienda/baon na rin for our entire stay!

^thanks charlieboo! I'm down to choosing between T-mobile and AT&T so thank you for your review. Ok ba yung data speed ng AT&T? We might get the 5GB data prepaid plan kasi we'll be using google maps and waze a lot too... so baka maubos agad. I'm trying to figure out if my phone is compatible with the AT&T network by typing my phone's IMEI number here https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/byop.html but error lagi! And I've checked several times - I'm typing my phone's correct IMEI number. I messaged them on FB so I'm waiting for their reply.

Meanwhile, I contacted T-mobile and they confirmed I'll be able to use my phone with their network.

We will fly to LA on May 5. Will stay there for 5 days then 5 days in Las Vegas and 4 days in Arizona. How's the temperature sa 3 places na yun?

we're going with T-Mobile. AT&T customer service sucks! I messaged them on FB and each time, iba iba sumasagot which is ok lang naman. But my gosh, hindi nila binabasa yun previous messages kasi paulit ulit ulit ulit talaga ko! They asked me several times for my number, binigay ko my Australian mobile and I also said I won't be in the US til October. Ayun, hihingin ulit after nung iba naman ay naku wag na lang.

@bellerina- it's quite hot here in LA na. It's already in the 30's (celsius). It's dry weather here, unlike sa Pinas na humid. Expect Vegas and Arizona to be warmer with cool evenings.

Is it worth it to take the HoHo red tour (hollywood area)? Wala kasing magiikot sa amin on that day so balak nalang mag-HoHo para malibot yung tourist spots. Balak namin on labor day pa (Sept 5) Maling decision ba to?

^If that's the case other than renting a car, the HoHo bus would be your best option.

^^kasi as in iikot lang sya sa area. may voice over lang ng mga spots pero nothing too interesting. first time ko pa nun sa LA hindi ako natuwa at namahalan pa ko. but if hindi kayo magdadrive, I guess okay lang, pwede na din.

@runbarbierun -  if your just planning to show them Hollywood, you can commute.  The Metro line runs from North Hollywood station and it stops in Hollywood mismo. It also has a station that could take you to Universal Studios Hollywood.  I've taken the metro upto Koreatown, and also to Little Tokyo. There are also some other lines going to Santa Monica and Pasadena. Just check the Metro rail map.  Hindi naman sya nakakatakot.  I live in the Valley pala and it's quite far from LA mismo via rail but it's doable naman.  The normal buses lang nga are not as frequent but the rail is mostly on time.
