driving in l.a. basta watch out for cars lol marami don't use breaks some don't signal and just swerve into your lane. it rarely happens kaya when it does it catches most drivers off guard. lalo na with rolling stops and or when the car you're following expects the car in front it to turn, instead of slowing down they keep the speed and assume that move. kaya by the time they break eh too late the hero at ayun bunggo sunud-sunod.

if you have iphone maps use that and enable the traffic thing it'll show you what streets to avoid. i duno if new gps systems can do that also try sigalert.com it'll save you a lot of time din. we took sidestreets one time from vegas back to l.a. using the iphone maps it shaved off an hour and we skipped horrible traffic.

We'll be driving from Las Vegas to LA end of this month, and we're keeping the rental car until our flight back to Manila from LAX. Bale 2 nights lang kami sa LA, and just 1.5days for sightseeing around LA. Hopefully we can squeeze in Santa Monica, Hollywood (Walk of Fame, etc), Mulholland Drive (yung viewpoint to see the Hollywood sign ng medyo malapit), Rodeo Drive. Kaya ba to lahat in one full day? If kaya, meron pa ba kami pwede madagdag na pwede masingit? We'll be there on weekdays pala.

As for hotel, which areas are ok places to stay? Yung nasa $200/night lang sana, hehe.. We're considering staying at a nicer hotel near LAX (for just over $200/night), will it still be manageable to just drive to the sights mentioned above in the morning, then drive back to the hotel sa gabi? Para din mas malapit na kami sa airport on the day of departure (flight leaves at 12nn yata). Yug sa first day kasi namin, we'll be coming from Las Vegas then after checking in sa hotel, me imi-meet kami family friend for dinner so we're keeping it free. Sa kung tutuusin, one full day lang talaga ang sightseeing namin. Mala-stopover lang talaga before we take our flight back to Manila.

^ sis, I read sa airport website yata yun. They have a shuttle bus going to Union Square, It's not free, pero mura lang, less than $10 lang yata yun.

Convenient bang mag public transpo kung hindi kami mag rent ng car? Pareho kasi kami ni hubby walang sense of direction kahit my gps,  will be traveling next month and first time namin ni hubby, so mega adventure talaga. Super layo ba pag sa mga pupuntahan pag sa may airport banda ang hotel? Thanks!

^. mahirap sis ang walang sariling sasakyan sa LA.  taxi is expensive at yung bus naman will not be available sa lahat ng gusto nyong puntahan.

Better to rent a car.

^^ if you will be staying close to LAX, you definitely need a car. if you don't want to rent a car, find a place close to downtown or santa monica. los angeles itself is doable without a car. it's when you want to stay out late at night or when you go to suburbs or you go to say, disneyland, that gets tricky.

but having a car is still more convenient.

Planning a two week trip with the kids next year in October, okay ba'tong itinerary:  4 days LA/ Hollywood, 4 days Las Vegas, 4 days San Fo.  'Yung 2 days, reserved na sa flights from. Manila and back again.  Okay ba mag LAX kami and leave for Manila sa Vegas?  As in LA - SFo - Las Vegas kami.  Kids will be 10years old and 7 years old by then. Thanks in advance!

^Ano sis ang plane nyo? mas malapit na kasi ang LA sa Pinas compared kung mang gagaling pa kayo ng Vegas,going to manila.  Di rin masyado ok ang airport ng Vegas.
And check also sis kung saan ang stop-over at gaano katagal. the shorter kasi ang flight,much better for
kids.
My kids started flying abroad including long haul-flights abroad when they are 3 and 4 years old respectively. Pero yung isa kong kid, biglang nagkaroon ng air-sickness recently lang.  kaya ,the shorter the flight at mas walang stop-over or lipat ng plane,much better.

First time ba nila sis sa US or not naman? N ot masyadong kid-friendly kasi sa Las Vegas, kaya baka you might want to add days sa LA na mas maraming sight-seeing na pwedeng gawin. and cut short your vegas stay.

Yung disneyland alone and universal (if ever pupunta kayo), hindi pwede magkasunod na days kasi nakakapagod.

Ang short sis ng stay nyo, super bitin at nakakapagod.

any recommended place with better view of the Hollywood sign? yung nabasa ko kasi is from Griffith Observatory daw. is this the closest location na ba? meron pang isa in Deronda drive, but ive checked in Google maps, mukang okay naman kaso parang residential area yata.

^ kami sa may Mulholland Drive/park nagpunta. Maganda nga ang view ng Hollywood sign. Yun nga lang, umambon nung pagpunta namin so waley din.. pasulpot-sulpot between the clouds/fog yung sign. Hehe..

Sis k_heart, we're planning to take Pal.  Pero wala na atang Pal from Las Vegas?  You're right our iti is very tight.  I might scrap San Fo muna and just limit our trip to LA and Vegas.  My hubby is adamant to go back there kasi eh.  We'll just take LAX in and out of the US.  Singit ko na lang Vegas ng 3 days, so it'll be 5 days LA, 3 days Vegas and 4 days LA uli before leaving.  It'll be my kids first time and also mine in the US.  We've only been around Asia so this is the first long plane ride for the 3 of us.  Sana kayanin ng powers ko hehe.  Thanks so much!

^In two weeks kaya ang three cities, LA, Vegas and SFO. If you're taking PAL, you can either fly into LA and out of SFO or vice versa. For me okay na ang two nights in Vegas then divide the remaining days between SFO and LA.

Pwede ganito IT nyo:

Day 1 Depart MNL at night
Day 2 Arrive LA, recuperate from the long flight. Easy lang kayo this day.
Days 3-5 LA
Day 6 Drive to Vegas (4hrs average depends on the traffic)
Day 7 Vegas
Day 8 Drive to SFO (8-9hrs average)
Days 9-11 SFO
Day 12 Depart SFO

Las Vegas ang PAL.

Yes carry naman 3 cities pero ngarag lang. No time to take in the sceneries and breathe the US of A air ng maayos. Lalo na sis at may kids kang kasama, they need muna to rest and adjust sa time-
difference/jetlag.
Your kids naman will enjoy LA, so many things to do for kids and adults alike( Disneyland, Universal, Redondo Beach,  Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Walk of fame, shopping at outlet stores, In and Out burger, Boiling Crabs resto,etc).
Don't go na to Legoland, it's just a waste of time.he!he!


If may enough time pa kayo at nasa Vegas, baka pwede na kayo pumunta ng Grand Canyon.

He!he!he!  carryng carry mo yan sis! PAL to LA naman, not boring na because of the individual monitors. Just have a barf bag ready lang just in case and bonamine for the hilo if ever.

But if ever carry nyo pa mag San fo, why not.  pero i really don't advise it with kids.
I really like kasi a relaxing vacation.he!he!

Abutin pa ba kayo ng November sa US? Mas maganda Disneyland pag mid-November, mas maganda

Lalo tuloy akong naexcite =)  Although the 8-9 hour drive from Vegas to San Fo bothers me.  Hehe.  But super thanks for the iti! =)

Naku, Bonamine ang bestfriend ko talaga for me and my kids, as in I never leave without it.  To think around Asia pa lang 'yun ha.  Hehe.  Plan is last week of October until 1st week of November just in time for my kids' Sem Break in school and the November holidays.  Is fall nice ba in California? Malamig ba? =)

^I was there October last year and the temp was getting cold na. Well, sunny around 10AM until 4-5PM but malamig na sa gabi. When I was there pinakamalamig nasa 10C (early morning/night) but midday umaabot ng 26-27C. A light jacket will do kung di naman kayo malamigin.

Re long drive from Vegas to SFO, inabot kami ng 9hrs kasi nag-stop kami along the way for lunch tapos traffic pa. But if you don't want to drive that far you can check Southwest. They have direct flights for $84/pax, one hour and a half lang flight time.

^^How bout Catalina instead of Vegas? tapos take a relaxing drive for the remaining days to SF madami magaganda stops puntahan pwede kayo mag Santa Barbara, Hearst Castle, Monterey. or if direcho 5 fwy lunch at Harris ranch.
