Honeymoon (Thread 2)

^whaaaaaa my dream honeymoon is a safari honeymoon. I already have an itinerary for Cape Town - Kruger National Park - Victoria Falls Zambia honeymoon. =( =( But H2B and I decided to save our South African adventure to go later on with friends of ours or with our kids.

We have decided instead for the same amount ... to do Santorini-Dubrovnik-Capadoccia with required stops in Athens, Zagreb, and Istanbul. LOL Payag ako because I want to experience Santorini in a really nice resort, as well as Capadoccia in a very nice cave hotel, as well as do a hot air balloon ride in one of the best places in the world to do so.

My honeymoon is one of the reasons why a big chunk of our wedding budget was eaten away hahaha but I dont mind. I cant wait for this!!!

Chili1113, my fiance apparently recognizes all my effort (and stress) handling 95% of the wedding planning so in return he said he will just plan our honeymoon and just completely surprise me! LOL.
I said, naku how will I handle that? I'm a Type A personality and has been the one to completely organize all our past trips, itinerary, budget and all! I like being able to make sure that when I'm visiting a country I will get to see what I want in that area and not miss out so i do quite extensive research before booking, and i also check on the hotels and all haha. Hindi ko alam how to handle this!! Pano if meron ako gusto na wala sa plan nya? Hahaha. So scary being given a plane ticket to somewhere nalang sunod sunod...

Pero sa totoo lang how convenient for me, i am so busy with the preps anyway and there's so much to do that we won't even get to spruce up our future home much before the wedding, baka after nalang. Haha and now the honeymoon baka di ko narin task. But so difficult for me to accept! Just hoping he knows me so well. Lol.

I didn't know you moved your honeymoon to Europe!! When are you going? I think our timing will be May..

^vhanya I'm afraid I'm not a safari girl hahaha i hate anywhere hot so i tend to stay away from Africa as a continent although they say nga it's an experience. We might go to South Africa in April next year though.

Hello sis! My fiance and I went to Bali last year for our monthsary. Well, medyo outgoing kami kaya we tried Mt. Batur trek, pero after nun, nagpromise kami sa isa't isa na 1st and last akyat na yun ng bundok. haha! Tapos in a day, need nyo lang naman maghire ng driver para puntahan mga gusto nyo. I can give you the email of ours kasi super bait nung driver namin plus ang galing mag-take ng photos.

Ang favorite and most memorable activity namin sa Bali is sumakay ng camel. sulit yung 40usd per head kasi may picture taking na! Enjoooy!

^ I see, yan yung isa sa factors namin in choosing our airline. I want to book with the one who can get me to Japan in the afternoon so we don't waste a day! Did you land at Narita or Haneda airport? We're travelling for 11 days and hopefully masulit namin. There are so many places I want to see (and restos to try, hehe) pero also keeping in mind that it's a honeymoon so the pacing shouldn't be so hectic. Nasanay kasi ako mag-cram ng activities in my previous itineraries.

Hi sis! I can help you sa itinerary if wala ka pa nagawa. I also made an excel file ano cheapest train tickets na dapat bilhin. we went to Japan last march-april for cherry blossoms. Sa Himeji Castle nagpropose sakin fiance ko  anyway, 12 days kami so pwede ka pili nalang sa mga pinuntahan namin. tokyo-osaka-nara-himeji-kyoto pinuntahan namin

sparklingjewel: Sigh!!! I wish my fiance would be the type to surprise me and fix a trip for us!  But he isn't the type! HAHA but I know what you mean in being OC with travel plans. I have fixed each and every itinerary for me and fiance, and also I am in charge of that for our family trips. The only time I let go of planning is when we join friends and I let others decide where to stay and what to do.

I know though that if I let it totally up to the fiance to decide where to go on honeymoon, he will surely pick New Zealand. Which I am ok with. But I want to do something more "bummy" and lazy for most of the honeymoon and not outdoorsy like NZ, Iceland, or Macchu Picchu which we all considered too.

BTW I don't like the heat either!!!!! That's why I was planning to go to South Africa in their winter season when it is much colder =)

I want to visit New Zealand too! But fiance wants the honeymoon to be a long stretch (3-4 weeks) para daw sulit haha and we may not get to do this again ever. So Europe na best place, to save on airfare. Ayaw nya US kasi we both have family there hahaha

sparklingjewel, you could do Iceland if you want something more unusual? A friend just got back from there and she was raving about it. Lots to do in the Middle East too (Turkey, Morocco, Israel) but you said you don't like hot places, hehe

Chili, have you been to Peru before? Would love tips if you have any. We're thinking about a South America trip next year (we've never been) and I'm considering starting with Peru since I don't need a visa lol. And the restaurant scene is supposed to be pretty spectacular!

^Fiance bugged me about Iceland before, apparently may aurora borealis ba don? Haha he has plans yata with family although i'm not sure what happened...he hasn't been there yet although he has already most of Europe and also Turkey and Israel.

Feeling ko lang stuck siya with Europe for my honeymoon surprise bec he knows i dont like hot places and I just really enjoy a trip when it's cold! Hahaha like Japan in winter

sevenstars: No I havent been to Peru!! OMG super dying to go there too. But no... not for the honeymoon since there is some serious hiking involved when visiting Macchu Picchu. LOL we might end up fighting haha as I get cranky when I am tired and hungry.

Iceland is something we BOTH really want to do. It is best to pair Iceland daw with a UK trip since most flights to Reykjavik is via London. Aurora Borealis is very visible there!  My friend who goes to Europe at least 2x/ year says that Iceland is by far the best trip she has ever done in her life. Hehe it is a packing nightmare though as you will need to purchase water resistant winter wear for when you visit the glaciers.

Israel is also beautiful. But I honestly would not go there for a honeymoon since it sorta isnt romantic to walk around the city LOL esp in Jerusalem. There are armed students (ROTC type of students) walking around with HUGE machine guns. Israel isn't the kind of country you can tour by yourself. A tour guide is really needed also for security reasons. They did a random FULL body search on me at the border and I was so nervous. My friend said there were armed men who entered they airplane upon landing! LOL It is very beautiful, historical and meaningful place though!

Chili, hehe so true about the hiking! We went to Israel without a tour guide and we were ok naman but it's true that a lot of people seem to have weird experiences at the border -- they asked me some truly bizarre questions at immigration lol. I loved it though, the food was amazing. One of my best restaurant experiences of all time was in Jerusalem

^ That must be one interesting trip.  Call me old fashion but I like it safe and just relax.  I haven't visited most of europe yet, scandinavia pa lang during our cruise so i sure hope to go back next year for a much awaited R&R.  Sigh!

^I personally like a bit of adventure and lots of walking and traveling for any vacation trip but for honeymoon, i kind of have that mindset nga na dapat medyo relax.. Though i am not a beach bum, i cannot stand not doing anything but sunbathe all day hehe. Medyo relax lang but not super! Dapat may sights padin, lots of eating too!

Singit ako im 3 years married in November and wala talaga kaming honeymoon (well I thought our Spain trip 10 months after the wedding was, but for my husband pala hindi). But a friend is getting married sa Trinidad & Tobago (he's from there) this November and hubby wanted to go. Ayaw ko na nga sumama dahil sabi ko uwi na lang ako Pinas tapos siya attend wedding.

Anyway biglang sabi ni hubby ayaw ko daw ba sumama sa honeymoon namin. Ako naman, honeymoon?!?  I asked why not consider our other trips as honeymoon. Dahil daw pag city not relaxing then our packaged holiday trip budget daw. To cut the story short I agreed na hindi na lang ako uwi ng Pinas this year since we traveled naman with my family last May.

Then I told him if it's a honeymoon then  we have to stay in a nice hotel which he agreed (lagi lang kasi kaming  basic hotel when we travel).

So now I'm excited for this 'honeymoon.' We wanted to do an eastern caribbean cruise after  Trinidad but timing doesn't work so now we are picking an island to stay for a week - either Barbados or St. Lucia.

Unique place - Cuba. Havana is a different world - old cars and old buildings but not kagaya ng Europe na grand.  Its in the caribbean  kaya hindi popular sa Pinas, ang layo plus maganda naman beach sa Pinas and Asia so why dayo pa sa Caribbean. Mga US citizen bawal din pumunta sa Cuba - recently yata allowed na. I've only been to Havana but they said the beaches are beautiful too.

Relax as in Europe, and I don't mind walking, touring and shopping too.  I just don't want heat/ sun/ sand haha  Definitely not a beach person   I'm getting excited just reading your posts.  Next year siguro I will have my hubby plan something.

hello.. we're done with our honeymoon last May.. but we are planning to go to Maldives this November for our 1st year anniversary. OKay ba ang weather ng November? I read kasi na end of wet season ang Nov so really praying hard na maganda ang weather kasi nakapagbook na kami ng flight.

and i just got back from our honeymoon part 2 which is in bangkok.  we've been there a lot of times na rin years ago so we had a good r&r this time, shopping, and checked out new spots for more authentic thai food! food trip galore and lotsa massage!
our honeymoon part 3 will be in maldives next next month then oslob naman (swimming with whale sharks) this december.  the part 4 will be early next naman in europe.
sarap ng feeling pag graduate na.. from wedding preps, we're back to our normal routine which includes travelling overseas every 3 months..

hi sis.. i read nga na wet season daw is may-nov.. pero nabasa ko din na all year-round naman is sunny in maldives with occasional drizzle lang during nov so i think keri lang..
we'll be there next next month, balitaan kita
