What's a good bank to open an account with?

BPI -- no major problems encountered so far for the past 10 years or so.

I would have said Citibank before, but not anymore. Since nakuha ng BDO ang Citibank Savings, sobrang konti na ng available Citibank branches. Banking has been so much of a hassle in the past few months, especially when I last went to the U.S. I've been considering closing my account with them kasi pumapangit ang service. I heard they've been resizing in the U.S., even part of their Philippine operations has been shut down or will soon be shutting down.

For me BPI din. Okay ang services and wala pa naman ako naexperience na hassle here in PH and even abroad.

I have PS bank so far so good, at ang pila sa deposit chill lang hindi sobrang haba...

BPI. Maganda services nila and hassle-free ang transactions. Mataas ang interest rate ng savings account. Maraming atms.

kung primary savings, mag bpi ka na. Mas praktikal kasi marami silang outlets so pag emergency at need mo mag withdraw agad agad sigurado meron kang matatakbuhan na malapit lang. Ok din naman ang online transactions nila.

Common complaint in BPI is long lines but can be addressed naman.

In ATM machines, not everyone is actually using BPI card. You can also find one a little bit farther but with lesser queue.

In branches, the key is scheduling. Mondays, after-holidays, and days after sweldo dates are sure busy periods.

Also, being a preferred client grants you a bit of immunity from lines (you'll have your own line).

What they don't mention is that you should have several products from them, consistent good credit standing, and loyalty (age of accounts).
It's also by invitation only so you cannot apply for it. Though, you can talk to your branch manager din and they can nominate you if you are qualified.

BPI and PSBank, parehong ok.
Masaya ako sa services ng PSbank, I have the PSbank debit mastercard. Savings account na siya with interes then pwedeng ipangbayad sa malls, online booking ng plane tickets and hotels. Wala ring maintaining balance. Pwede rin gamitin magwithdraw abroad. Di ko na kelangan kumuha ng credit card. Mabilis din ang service sa branch kasi kaunti tao tapos sa email mabilis din sila sumagot.

I have BPI Easy Saver, dito ko planong itransfer yung savings ko. Easier kasi BPI din ang payroll ko and by the use of online baking, minutes after ko sumweldo transfer agad ako ng portion to my easy saver account. Iwas gastos! haha. 

Meron din akong Union bank for my paypal and odesk remittances sa mga pakonti konti kong projects online. Minsan nagagamit ko din to swipe for groceries kasi debit card.

In my opinion, the best banks to open a bank account are:

• BDO - has the most # of branches, I think, in the Philippines. The good thing about BDO is they have a lot of branches in malls and those branches have extended banking hours. Perfect especially if you're working and can only go to the bank after 5pm. What I hate about it is the long lines which never seem to end.
• BPI - has a lot of branches especially in Metro Manila so it's accessible. They even have this feature where you can make an appointment to your branch online. This allows customers to avoid the long lines. Its best feature is its waived transaction fees for provincial deposits and inter-branch withdrawals. Just like BDO, if you don't make an appointment online, you'll have to fall in line.
• Unionbank - I mainly use this for PayPal disbursals since it is waived unlike other banks which charge as high as 200 per transaction. Lines are shorter compared to BDO and BPI too.

Currently I have accounts in BPI and Metrobank. Dati meron rin ako sa Unionbank and Chinabank, pero ni-close ko na. Out of all of them BPI and favorite ko... maganda kasi yung customer service nila, mabilis magbigay ng solutions. Inis na inis ako sa Metrobank kasi hindi sumasagot sa emails ng maayos (abroad kasi ako kaya ayokong tumatawag sa cust. care) tapos na-sendan pa ko by mistake ng credit card details ng ibang customer nila. Ughhh sobrang security risk lang.

-mataas ang interest rate sa savings account
-with online banking (you can pay your bills, see all your transactions)
-maraming clients ang bpi kaya if may magdeposit sa account mo pwede na thru online
-if magkaproblem, maganda ang services nila kahit long lines ang ibang branches may upuan naman sa bank.

BDO-
PROS:
-maraming branches and ATMs
-open ang banko sa mall kahit saturday at sunday. Pag weekdays until 7pm ang banko sa mall
-with online banking (you can pay your bills, see all your transactions)
-pwede din magtransfer ng money thru online
CONS:
-Palaging mahaba ang pila sa banko! at eto lang ang banko na wala man upuan para sa
magdedeposit.
-Pag over the counter, may fee na 50 pesos pag sa province yung account na padadalhan mo.

Metrobank and EastWest for me!

-Both may mauupuan while waiting sa number mo para magdeposit
-Both mababait ang mga tellers
-Sa EastWest, may free drinks like c2 and water while waiting hehe
-EastWest now has an EMV chip on their debit cards. 100 ang maintaining balance niya unlike metrobank 2k.
-I can do online banking on both banks.
-Cons lang for metrobank, may 50 pesos over-the-counter charge if sa province yung account ng padadalhan mo.

BDO, hmm...
-Medyo may mga attitude ang mga tellers nila eh.
-Pipila ka ng nakatayo! Walang number at upuan.
-Like Metrobank, may charge din sila na 50 pesos

i have bpi and eastwest na personal accounts, bpi yung sa payroll namin sa office

paano ba yung bpi easy saver?

^Yan yung mga nagooffer outside bpi branches sis. I'm not sure kung merong easy saver pag nagapply ka sa branch mismo. No maintaining balance. Kailangan lang you have 2 IDs and P200, 50 pesos for the atm card and yung 150 inital deposit. Ang hindi maganda dito nagbabawas ng 5 pesos every transaction mo. Kaya if magcheck ka ng balance dapat thru online.
