Nakagat ng Pet niyo?

Mga sis, naexperience nyo na ba na nakakagat yung pet dog niyo? Yung lhasa ko kasi nung May 28, may party yung kapitbahay ko dito sa loob ng compound namin. Nung nagpalaro na nung hahatawin yung palayok (anong laro ba yun) Yung aso ko, nakipag agawan din, tapos meron syang kinagat na 10 yr-old na bisita. Pero nung tinignan namin, wala namang sugat or lacerations or anything. Meron lang na parang maliit na parang dot na kulay purple then isa lang. Tsaka nakapants sya, wala namang punit or kung anuman. So parang kagat lambing (para sating mga owners). So akala ko ok na.

Kanina, yung pinsan nila na kapitbahay ko, nagpunta saken may dalang mga resibo ng injection. Dapat bang sagutin ko yun? I know it's my dog pero nasa loob kami ng compound namin and they are visitors. Di ko kasi sure if sasagutin ko lahat. Tsaka ganun ba talaga kadami shots nun? 5 shots na tig P1650. It's my first time kaya wala akong alam.

Since dog nyo yung nakakagat, responsibility nyo na kahit paano na sagutin yung bill.
Kahit pa compound nyo yun at alam nyong harmless yung dog nyo, sana itinago nyo muna sya nung party.
Para di sya nakigulo sa mga bisita. I am sure pinainjection yung bata ng magulang nya to be sure na
walang masamang mangyayari sa anak nila. Talk to the parents of the child.

ako naman nakagat ng pusa.. natapakan ko yung buntot niya.. ayun, warla, as in dumugo yung part na kinagat niya sa paa ko. nangyari ito sa bahay ng best friend ko. di ko na sila hinassle sa bayad kasi yung pusa naman ay technically hindi nila alaga, yung tipong "pusakal" lang na tumatambay sa garahe nila.

and yes, sobrang daming injection. i had 15 all in all. 9 shots on the night of the bite, 2 shots after a week, 2 shots after a month ata, 1 shot after 3 months and 1 shot after 6 months ata. pero yeah, mahal siya talaga. yung mga supplementary shots after nung 9 mga tig 500++ ata yun each. ang nagpapamahal rin sa injection is merong isa na subjective sa weight ng patient. e mataba ako so ang dami nung injection na yun. argh.

the funny thing is, in between those months that i am on anti-rabies medication, nakagat naman ako ng daga habang natutulog. dumugo rin yung sugat pero hindi na ko tinurukan sa clinic kasi nga under medication na ako. hehe.

sis iampennylane, responsibility po talaga ng dog owner na i-assist ang nakagat at ishoulder ang medical expenses. nasa Anti-Rabies Act po ito eh, so kahit po vaccinated yung dog natin if the victim (or in this case parents of the victim) thinks kailangan niyang magpavaccinate to be sure e need natin i-shoulder yun.
 tayo kasing mga owner sanay na tayo sa dog natin eh, kahit magasgasan or medyo lumalim ang kagat naiintindihan natin na naglalaro lang sila or naglalambing. hindi tayo nagaalala lalo na kung vaccinated mga alaga natin. pero sa ibang tao lalo na yung mga hindi talaga mahilig sa animal, kahit isang dot lang yun nakakaparanoid pa rin dahil hindi nila sure ano pwedeng mangyari sa kanila/anak nila.

ako, andami ko ng gasgas sa paa, binti, kamay at braso dahil sa dog ko (still in the teething stage) pero di ko na inaalala, pareho naman kaming vaccinated against rabies e. pero nanay ko nag-aalala sakin nung nakita nya mga gasgas at pasa ko dahil sa panghaharot ng aso ko.

sis that's too expensive, if it didn't bleed its only 460 × 4 shots for day 0, 3 , 7 day 30 is optional if the dog is alive after the observation period. no need to give the immuneglobulin for rabies (erig) if it didn't bleed. doctor might prescribe tetanus toxoid and tetanus immune globulin, toxoid is free.. the immune globulin is 700+…

where do you live sis? ritm or san lazaro ka:)

^^^^the daga has no rabies po, only dogs, cats and monkeys. they only give you tetanus ig, tetanus toxoid and antibiotics

^^Kaya nga sis sobrang namamahalan ako eh to think na wala namang sugat or anything. Again, when we checked, sobrang liit lang nung pasa parang tuldok lang ng lapis and isa lang.  I'm from San Mateo, Rizal. Tagarito din lang yung "nakagat". Dami pa naman gastos sa enrolment.

As a responsible owner, i believe kailangan sagutin ninyo yon para wala nalang masabi. Pikit mata nalang! hehe... Kesa naman hindi nila kayo tigilan at magdulot lang ng stress sa inyo. Pero grabe naman sa mahal non! Hindi ba pwedeng yung ibang shots, ikaw naman mamili ng clinic or hospital na kukuhanan non? Grabe eh!

the private hospitals are expensive kasi they use the intramuscular route(im), with im, you use the whole vial.. but what ritm, san lazaro and private animal bite centers use is the intradermal route, you only use up .2 cc of the medicine and you only have day 0, day 3, day 7 and day 30(optional). but with the im route! you have day 0,3,7,14,30. and the im route is more painful compared to the id route.

Ako, nakagat ako ng aso ko na wala pang anti-rabies nuon sa excitement na makita nya ako ulit kasi matagal akong nawala. Nakipag kumpitensiya siya ng attensiyon sa ibang aso ko kasi maliit siya so kinagat nya ako hahaha. Pero nagulat din siya afterwards. Parang gasgas lang yung s'kin pero the Doc suggested na I get immunized kasi madami akong aso. hehe....

1st shot - I paid P2300 (1st shot) Anti Rabies (Verorab P1650) and Anti tetanus (P650) sa magkabilang braso and isa sa hita. (3 shots)

2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th shots - Anti Rabies (Verorab P1650) alternate sa braso.

Pwede I-file sa Phil health pero dapat sa accredited hospital nila for animal bites like San Lazaro. Max of 3k din daw marereimburse if ever. Hindi ko nafile kasi sa Private Hospital na malapit sa amin ako ngpa inject.

Meron din ata nag-iinejct sa mga barangays mga P750/ea. kaso kasi when I learned about it nasimulan ko na yung sa Verorab and dapat daw same tatak ng gamot hanggang matapos and mas convenient for me yung sa private hospital at least alam ko na safe and malinis. hehe...

5 years protected after finishing the vaccines then booster shot na lang once a year. Ngayon as in I don't get scared sa kahit anong aso, hahaha... Subukan nila kagatan kami.

^barangays usually offer it free nowadays. in ritm and sanlazaro it's 460, but once you start with intramuscular route you have to continue it with the same route. usually, in ritm and san lazaro.. both hospitals carry all kinds of medicine for anti rabies. in private animal bite centers, it usually costs 600.

it's kinda alarming since we still get a lot of rabid patients , and all we can do is just restrain them and wait for their last breath when they could have prevented it by just getting vaccinated after they got bitten.

Dati paranoid kami kasi nakagat ni tamy yung sis ko pero sabi ng tito kong nurse kung alaga naman
Bat pa magpapainject kasi nasa kinakaen naman daw yun ng pets natin.

Kung alaga no problema ang dpat kagad painject eh yung mga aso at pusang gala

At bibilang ka muna ng 14 days kapag namatay yung dog at cat  pagtapos kang kagatin it
Means my rabist sila tapos dun kana magpainject

^not true sis. we just had a 7 year old rabid patient last week, she got bitten by her pet dog 3 months ago.. her dog was completely vaccinated take note ah. she died 3 hours after admission.

With or without vaccination kailangan e oa injection agad yung nakagat ng aso and you dont have towait for 14 days para mag pa injection dahil in less than 14 days puwede mo na ika matay ang rabies at tetano.

They just want to make sure na ok yung bata kasi ang rabies once the symptoms show wala na naman gamot yun e kamatayan lang patutunguhan ng bata syempre yung parent and doctor dont want to take that risk.

it's better to be safe than sorry. i have witnessed a lot of rabid patients, kawawa sila but then again stupidity nila yun na hindi magpaturok or to seek advice from albularyos. (exception to the kids kasi ano ba malay nila eith rabies sila talaga really heartbreaking to witness). or if you don't want to spend a lot, you ca n have the dog's head tested for rabies, pero syempre morbid ulo lang dadalhin mo. 200 pesos for that

I see. This is contrary Kasi to what I was told when I asked a doctor dati. Sabi Nya pag di naman na break yung skin no need na for injections.

Pa: just to qualify, my hypothetical question was about a pet dog with complete and anti rabies shot... Not a stray. Baka Kasi ma misinterpret ako. Hehe
