hmmm..

1. i really didn't avoid anything. added milk and eat healthier food than usual. settled more for homecooked meals. less fastfood. less sweets too.

2. i did some walking in the morning,  but don't do much especially if you're not yet due. nagscout ako ng things for my baby, checked their prices and compare, went to mommy and baby fairs. attend ka ng mga seminars and talks especially those about breastfeeding. don't miss your OB visits.

3. didn't do anything about stretchmarks. kusang nawala yung sa akin. meron natirang konti but didn't do anything about it. just proud of it.

1. I avoided all processed food - hotdog, corned beef, bacon, instant noodles (my weakness). Ate healthier, fresh fruits and veggies. Monitored my sweets as I have a history of diabetes on both sides of the family. Remember you only need an additional 300 calories a day while pregnant so that's like a modest snack (1 banana is about 100 calories na).

2. Need to do? I don't think there's anything special - moderate exercise is fine as long as you are cleared by your OB. Since this is your first pregnancy just be conscious that you may react the same way to certain things. My mom had a history of fainting during her pregnancy so she wouldn't let me go to any crowded places or stay at the mall for a long time. At most I would stay at the mall for 2-3 hours lang then go home.

3. My understanding is that it's genetic. Unfortunately no amount of cocoa butter prevented my stretchmarks. They are fading now slowly. I was really upset about them but hubby keeps telling me they are my battle wounds.

1. Get enough sleep, at least 8 hours.
2. Drink LOTS of water to prevent constipation.
3. Control your intake of sweets especially if your family has a history of diabetes para 'di ka magka-gestational diabetes.
4. 'wag magkamot. Believe me, nakakastretchies 'to. Tapos always moisturize your skin, especially your tummy.
5. Don't eat too much. 2100 calories lang dapat itatake mo daily.

1. I ate mostly home-cooked meals. There were certain food smells that I didn't like so I avoided those. I sacrificed coffee, wine, and sushi the entire time that I was pregnant and breastfeeding. Ate food that are rich in DHA, took my vitamins religiously. Drank lots of water. Always kept nutritious snacks in my bag because my blood sugar dropped very quickly when hungry. If you or your husband are prone to asthma or allergies, ask your OB about taking probiotics (I didn't know about this back then).

2. Read pregnancy and childcare books. Signed up to Babycenter to keep track of the development of my growing baby. Never skipped OB appointments. Slept, slept, slept (I was very sleepy during the first trimester). Kept a weekly pregnancy journal where I placed all my test results and ultrasound pictures (came in handy during delivery--I just gave this to the nurses for their reference so that I didn't have to answer their questions repeatedly).

3. I agree that some are predisposed to having (and not having) stretchmarks. I did ask my husband to put cocoa butter on my tummy from time to time (because it felt nice) but I wasn't really big on moisturizing dahil naiinitan ako. No stretchmarks naman.

A.Do eat:
1-lots of green, leafy veggies-rich in iron. All veggies actually-will prevent constipation.
2-Fish and seafood-fully cooked;special mention to pink salmon & sardines kasi high in omega 3 and DHA (needed in baby's brain development).
3-Eat anything that you want(once you've gone past the nausea& vomitting or "lihi" stage),basically but watch your weight.Gaining too much is not good, as it's harder to lose the baby weight after, and it predisposes you to developing eclampsia and gestational diabetes.
4- Snack wisely. Don't indulge in overly sweet and salty foods.remember, the salt in your diet can later cause "manas".

Don't s:

1-take alcoholic drinks-self explanatory
2-lower or cut down on caffeine (and yes, that includes chocolates!)
3-"eat for two"- remember , the baby is NOT a full grown person so don't justify eating extra portions!
I had gestational diabetes and this is what the dietitian told me.So if you can cook soupy dishes like tinola,nilaga-damihan mo na lang higop sabaw so you feel "fuller" before you eat the rice and ulam  ;)

Stretchmarks

no amount of the most expensive elixirs of moisturizers can prevent this. It's genetic (hereditary, namamana). If the women in your family had it, chances are you will have it too.

This works for me  ;):
DO's
 - Drink plenty of Water (to prevent UTI narin)
 - Get enough sleep

-Avoid processed food (Instant Noodles, HOTDOGS!, ham, tocino, junkfood etc)
-If kaya naman, limit your Sweets, nakakalaki ng baby yun

Sa stretchmarks naman, Ask your mom, if nagkaron siya 90% you can also have ;)

Eat Fruits.

Don't forget  your Folic Acid in your first trimister , even before pregnancy if nagbabalak maging preggy.

Take even a little walk but don't over do it.

Hi sis... Congrats :D

Based on my experience, you may eat RIPE papaya to prevent constipation (thanks to progesterone, the culprit)... When i was pregnant last year, i always have a serving of ripe papaya, so that's 3x a day... Nothing happened to my baby, i just pooped everyday ;D...

But never eat UNRIPE papaya... Its bec of the latex (dagta)... It is converted into a chemical inside the body that causes uterine contraction... And may end up to premature labor...

Drink lots of water... (Nakaka 7 liters a day ako that time, never ako nagka UTI the entire pregnancy, but ofcourse you may do it if it's not contraindicated like having polyhydramnios or eclampsia)

If you have cats at home, never clean the cat litter because it may contain a parasite that causes toxoplasmosis... It is very harmful to your baby...

You may also take Vit C and Calcium supplements... Dont forget folic acid to prevent Neural tube defects... Eat green leafy veggies...

Eat small frequent meals... Less sugar and less salt... No processed foods...

Take a walk, that's the best exercise for preggo

To prevent stretchmarks? It's more on genetics sis... Oral hydration may help para maging elastic ang skin ... And dapat gradual ang  weight gain...

You've more or less mentioned everything but here are additional bilins from my OB-GYN

No nail polish- some polishes have lead. Baka ang pwede lang is Butter London
Ayaw din ng pedicure- unless sure na sterilized ang gamit - to avoid tetanus
No tuna - baka daw high mercury content
No reflexology- may induce contractions -depende daw kasi baka di marunong mag prenatal massage
No sushi
No haircolor - due to ammonia

Take all prescribed vitamins and medication. No anmum, etc kasi nakakataba lang sa mommy
And it's hard to lose that pregnancy weight after.

Isip pa ako. :)
