Inggit Sa Mga Facebook Friends
« on: May 18, 2013, 04:56:38 pm »
Normal lang bang makaramdam ng inggit sa mga posts ng facebook friends mo, or dis is a bad trait for someone to possess?
Aaminin ko mga sises minsan nakakaramdam ako ng inggit to some of my facebook friends posts, kahit pa close friend ko nagpost, but ayaw ko naman maging inggitera so im just convincing myself to be happy na lang for them..Naramdaman niyo na rin bang maging ganito? How do you guys handle it?

Honestly wala magagawa pagiging envy. Para sakin be happy for them and take it as a challenge para ma-achieve mo kung ano man yung kinaiingitan mo. Insecurities and being envy will kill you (That's my opinion lang ha).  :) Think positive.  ;)

Normal siguro na mainggit but when you think about it, hindi naman perpekto ang buhay nila. I used to be envious, too. Normal siguro yun.

But behind the happy smiles and luxurious lifestyles is tears and sadness.

Healthy ang inggit if you would resort to using it in improving your life.

Sis,

I want to share with you this one I read online:

http://www.rappler.com/move-ph/33-editors-pick-moveph/23511-social-media-ways-facebook-ruining-lives

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adoree-durayappah-mapp-mba/facebook-self-esteem-study_b_832089.html

So there's what they call "facebook envy" and studies show that it does exist nga talaga. So don't feel bad kase honestly, ako I feel that way too. The reason why I seldom visit my facebook na. Every time na nag su surf ako, I feel that or get irritated pa with the posts of my friends, so why have that negative energy diba. Anyways, i'm more productive without it na rin. Saka wala namana ako nami-miss hehe.

I understand all of your thoughts mga sises :) pero syempre tao lang naman di ba, di maiiwasan talaga na minsan makaramdam ng inggit, big things or small things, but like you girls said, it's how you deal with this emotion, it should motivate you and still avoid nega vibes ayt :)
however, this thread is not about to break our hearts..It is just to acknowledge this envy feeling. Yung thought na wow meron na siyang ganyan, then pwedeng maging reaction is deadma lang later on or I'll strive harder to achieve that kasi in all honesty dream ko din naman yan..Hope you get my point sis :)

I feel for you, sis.  :-[

When I was still not-quite-active in Facebook (circa 2008-2012) and only logged in when there was a notification of a friend request, I felt happier and didn't feel insecure about myself at all (because I didn't know what was going in other people's lives and was mostly occupied by my studies). But lately, I've been logging in more frequently because I was entertaining my close male friend whom I haven't seen nor chatted with for 3 long years because I had been using school as an alibi. I felt like I owe him those 3 years because I had been downright mean to him. Though he called me up, sent me countless SMSes and PMs, greeted me on my birthdays without fail, I never replied (but there were times I did, but just didn't bother to keep the conversation going), yet he never gave up on me.  :-[

Anyway, it felt good talking with him on a daily basis again and we had a lot of fun catching up with each other but on the downside, I couldn't avoid reading all those unnecessary and unwanted updates on my Facebook wall as to how happy and stress-free my acquaintances, friends, school mates, and distant relatives are as opposed to my pathetic self who is leading a crappy life that seems to be either going downhill or nowhere, thus prompting me to feel jealous of them somehow and even turning me into one spiteful person. In fact, I've never felt more envious in my life than now.  >:(

So what I did was I signed up on Skype, and my friend and I continue to do our nightly chats there. I'm also limiting myself to linger in Facebook for a maximum of 5 minutes on a daily basis. I still feel pangs of jealousy every now and then (I mean, who wouldn't? My eyes automatically turn green whenever I see updates of people doing what they want and the things that make them happy, yet here I am, being forced to do other people's bidding) Did it help? I think so cause I feel like I'm slowly growing out of it. But I can definitely say it's still an everyday challenge for me to turn a blind eye on those things. :-X

I think there's only one way out of it, be it on Facebook or on other social platforms: I feel like I have to love and focus on myself more. I should go back to being conceited so that whatever other people do with their lives won't affect even a single fiber of my being. It might have been a bad trait of mine way back, but at least I felt happier.  ;D

Natural naman mainggit it's human nature.

Okay lang naman mainggit wag lang over over, for all you know meron din dyan naiinggit sayo.

i realized i had facebook-envy sometime last year when almost everyone on my friends list got married and started to have babies. i literally hated seeing wedding pictures of these people. dahil dun hindi nako masyadong nagchecheck sa fb kesa naman mamatay ako sa inggit. i also envied travel pictures. i wonder why some friends can afford to go the beach every week. lalo na pag summer almost everyone travels. except me.

solution: don't check fb at all. life would be so much better. i only use fb to play candy crush saga and email and chat with my friends.

then i found out pala one friend who travels almost every week is knee-deep in debt just so he can travel. mas gusto ko nang stuck sa bahay kesa gala nang gala baon ka naman sa utang. well, dun naman sa mga kinakasal at nagkaka baby i know it will happen for me someday. naunahan lang nila ako.

And I think you are right! Hindi masamang mainggit. in the same way na hindi masama magalit. Kasi emotions sila.

Introvert kasi ako so hindi ako matravel or magastos. Besides, busy ako sa school. Rare lang ako magpost ng status din. Even if something new happens to me (new haircut, hair color, family reunion, etc), I rarely post about them. Hindi ko lang talaga personality.

Kaya usually, I don't browse my facebook. Yun na lang ginagawa ko. You'll have your turn din naman. Para one day you'll be happy with what you're doing para maging inspiration ka din dyan sa fb friends mo. :)

Guess what? I forgot to check my Facebook today! YAAAY!  ;D So throughout the entire day, I didn't feel even a pinch of envy. Out of sight, and definitely OUT of mind!  ;D

envy/jealousy is an emotion, so for sure, it's just normal lang naman na ma feel mo to, since tao ka. ang prob lang is if you can't take control of it. kase nga negative emotion eto e. sabi nga nila, when you turn green of jealousy you ripe out of trouble.

better don't stay too long sa fb sis, i was once before kase nga malayo ako sa family, so fb becomes a way para makipag balitaan naman kung kamusta na sila sa pinas. until a grade school classmate msg me and told me na mabuti pa daw ako nasa abroad ang sarap daw ng buhay ko. mabuti pa daw ako, nakarating na ko sa iba't ibang lugar, mabuti pa daw ako naka hawak/kita na ng snow at branded mga suot. sa lahat ng sinabi nya, isa lang sinagot ko na mas mabuti ang life nila, kase nga pag uwi nila from work andyan family nila, pag nagkasakit sila may nanay na nag aalaga, present sila sa lahat ng occassion/family gatherings.

di maiiwasan mag compare kung anong klaseng buhay meron tayo sa iba, pero take it as an inspiration nalang. di naman masama mangarap e.

^^good on you sis megamuii haha :D it helps talaga to avoid envy ang madalang na pagbukas ng fb, or you can let it out (just like posting it on this thread) and you'll notice na parang nawawala na yung envy feeling (or maybe it's just me hahaha)

my fb envy is actually more on people having actual photos to post. kasi ako I always forget. I only got an iphone recently so in all the years na may fb ako, more of camera pics talaga. tapos ngayon, minsan minsan na nga lang ako lumabas, I always forget to take photos of the restaurants, my outfits, of the people im with. paguwi ko tapos I check fb, naiisip ko, ay sana pala I took a photo of this para I can share it and so I can have something to remember the day. pero wala na. tapos na.

I don't feel envious of the stuff that people own or the places they go to. I think its because I am older and have reconciled with the fact that my life is like this. I don't have a lot but im ok where I am.

filipinos are naturally jealous, it's part of our culture. testified by my non-filipino co-workers who are working long enough
with people of our race.

right now, naiinggit ako sa mga fb friends ko na puro bakasyon/outings sa mga beaches. how i miss the white sand beach! pangit kasi ng mga beaches dito sa abroad..

I was envious of what my friends had before (because of what they've posted at FB), but it was not in a negative way; it actually prompted me to work harder and achieve what I have achieved right now.  :)
