Co-sleeping-yay or nay?
« on: May 17, 2013, 05:41:22 pm »
I EBFd (and still on going) my 26 month old so no brainer that we co-sleep.It's not a popular practice in the Western world, often times, discouraged, deeming it " hazardous" for the baby. Some say the baby might get "crushed", the bed of adults aren't safe as there are blankets and pillows, etc. What's your take on this? Did you let your little ones share your bed?

I have a playpen pero mas preferred ko na katabi si baby. It works for me as konting galaw ni baby nararamdaman ko. We are now planning to buy a crib/daybed/toddler bed para pwede ko pa rin sya katabi pero may tamang harang na ngayon kasi dumadapa at nagsastart na sya gumapang.

I ebfd din my 6wks baby kaya mas prefer ko to cosleep  kami lang 2 sa bed, hubby is on another bed, after baby sleeps lipat ako kay hubby. :) feeling ko mas safe na magkatabi kami ni baby, hindi naman ako malikot matulog and since i gave birth mababaw na lagi tulog ko. Sabi nga ng iba e paglabas ni baby nagkakaron ng built in alarm si mommy pag baby is awake or not feeling well. :)

My baby has a playpen, a crib and a small rocking crib but she sleeps with us. She's 3mos old and we're EBFing. The first month, nakakatakot. Pero Ngayon ok na. Mas mahimbing tulog ng anak ko pag nararamdaman nya body heat ko. In the afternoon or late mornings, kahit san mo ilapag, ok lang sa kanya. :)

i ebfd too!for now katabi namin ni hubby sa bed yung 5 mos old ko tsaka 3 yrs old babies ko..

I had been sleeping with my first born ever since. She's now 2 years old and me and my husband share the bed with our daughter.
Malikot sila pareho matulog so ako lagi kawawa.

I sometimes co-slept with my baby in the early morning when she was less than 6 months old, but once she started turning over and crawling we never co-slept anymore. I'm too wprried about her falling and I would never get a good night's sleep.

When she was an infant, I would bring her playard with the bassinet right up to my side, the top of the playard was the same as our bed so if she fussed at night, I only had to reach over to pat her. I keep her crib near also when she sleeps with us.

The only exception was when we were in china to visit the paternal grandparents. We put down two queen size mattresses on the floor and hubby and I were at each end. Even then I never slept well, I was constantly waking up to make sure she was still in the middle of our beds.

According to what i learned kasi, mas mataas ang risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) if an infant co-sleeps on an adult bed. Suggest ko sis get a crib with minimal beddings/sheets/stuff toys. If ayaw mawalay kay baby, put the crib in the same room as yours; yung iba kasi separate sa baby nila. For me, mas prefer ko siguro yung co-rooming in but not co-sleeping on same bed.

You can also get a cosleeper bed for baby:

http://www.amazon.com/The-First-Years-Secure-Sleeper/dp/B00012CHFI

Pricey sya for a few months use pero you can opt buying second hand, which i did, and it was very helpful kung gusto mo na close ka sa baby mo ex. if you are breastfeeding pero you fear na malikot ka matulog. This is a nice buy talaga.

My son who's 14 months have aleays slept in the middle of the bed, between husband & me. It was convenient when we were ebf but after we switched to formula na at 10monthd we all prefered to be together in 1 bed  ;)

I read somewhere that co-sleeping is supposed to help make the child calmer & more resistant to stress, its supposed to be because of the genetic make up and history. I dunno how true it is but i think it doesnt hurt to continue. :)

Since birth my daughter slept in the playpen inside our room. Now that she's 3, she sleeps in her own room na. May mga times lang na maglalambing na she wants to sleep with us most especially during weekends and yun mga times na katabi ko siya. But she's very independent and during her nap times, she will just ask for milk and will go to her room on her own and sleep. So i guess it will teach your child to be independent din which is a good thing if ndi katabi. :)

When Aidan was still a baby, I co-sleep with him. He seldom uses his crib for sleeping especially at night. And it's more convinient for me to co-sleep too because I breastfeed him.

We have this but we never really used because natadtad sya ng warning about SIDS. So pano pa ako matatahimik nun? I want my child to sleep with me, but because malikot ako we bought the co sleeper but no use. Ending she stayed on her room in a cot pero nung medyo matigas tigas na ang bones nya, 1+ we decided to let her stay with us. Now she's 5 she still sleeps with us. Imbis na ako dadagan sa kanya kasi malikot ako, jusko bugbog ako pag kagising ko kasi parang clock lang. but I like it :) see? may iku-kwento ako ngayon. hehe.

We plan to let her stay with us as long as we can. :) My husband and I are both working so sa gabi lang talaga kami nag kikita. IF we take away that chance to be with her even sa pagtulog, it will turn out na in a day, 3-4 hours lang kami nagkikita/nagkakasama. that's unacceptable.

Nung maliit pa yung daughter ko (few months old), minsan co-sleep minsan crib - depende. Kasi hubby and I both work sa call center, night shift. So we only have her sleep between us kapag hindi kami pagod na pagod, tendency kasi is baka di namin mapansin na nadadaganan na namin sya dahil tulog na tulog kami.

Pero when I resigned na from work when my daughter was about 8 months old, co-sleep na kami every night until now that she's 4 years old. There are times na parang gusto kong she sleeps in her own room na, pero habang lumalaki sya, parang mas lalo kong naiisip na one day very very soon, she'd want to really be in her own room na, at wala nang balikan. :(

really? how come its still being sold kung ganun? tsaka SIDs, sa pagkakaintindi ko ha, is more of parang unexplained death di ba? possible cause lang ang mga gamit.

we're co-sleeping since my son turned 4 months.

before that he's comfy in his crib but eventually as he became more active during sleep, turns 180 or even 360 clockwise. sometimes nagigising bigla at umiiyak kasi hindi na pala sya maka ikot kasi stucked sya crosswise. so after a few nights na ganun, we decided to just co-sleep para mas malaki yung space na pag-iikutan nya =)

until now that he's turning 1yo we're still co-sleeping. nahulog na sya once sa sobrang likot - thank God hindi na naulit.

initially, she was with us on the bed. then we had our baby sleep in a crib beside our mattress but later on we had her sleep with us in the bed again. Now that she's 3.5 yrs old, she sleeps on her own bed beside us. sometimes my husband doesn't like it especially when we get intimate because he's afraid she might wake up and see us. i don't know until when i can have her in our room.  :-\
