Caregiver

Girls,
I need a caregiver for my mom.  She's currently very weak (but not bedridden) and will soon undergo chemotherapy, so we're expecting that she'll be so much more weaker pa.  Where do you get caregiver?  We tried yung referred ng Medical City, but it's so expensive at P100/hour.  Is there a caregiver na monthly rate?

We're also looking for one. My grandma will be coming to Manila next month, and she might be staying here for good, so we need someone who's a bit knowledgeable of nursing to look after her. She's not ill nor undergoing any treatments, but she has DM Type II and hypertension, and needs help especially when bathing (she has a history of slips and falls).

why don't you get a nurse or a nursing grad talaga..those who cannot work as a nurse here  or underboard at least sila knowledgeable in all aspects of caregiving. when my MIL had colon cancer we hire a caregiver for her.  she's a registered  nurse pa nga nag abroad na but her contract expired na and still waiting for another chance to work abroad.  while waiting she accepted naman our offer and we paid her 7k monthly. what we did was on day time the relatives took turns to look after my ailing MIL and the nurse was the one assigned at night. she goes home in the morning and be back at an appointed time.

sis artegirl, i feel you... my mom was bedridden as well for 2 years. the caregiver we got was actually a midwife, I paid her P400/day, during daytime lang din sya sa amin from 8am to 5pm, that rate was 10years ago, for now I am not updated how much na ang bigayan sa kanila.

if i may suggest, pwede kang magbakasakali sa TESDA, di ba may mga nag-e-enroll dun ng caregiving. ask mo baka may mga graduates sila na gusto tumanggap ng offer mo, kahit panandalian lang habang nag-iintay siguro sila ng tawag sa abroad.

We only need a caregiver not a nurse cause my grandma isn't fully dependent and has no grave medical ailment. Whilst it is true that a nurse would be easier to find, their salaries cost a whole lot more than a caregiver, given that they are a degree holder. We only need someone to look after my grandma at all times since we are usually away from home, but the caregiver has to live and stay with us, and a nurse wouldn't fit that role.

^sis baka pwede mong subukan sa TESDA, i never tried one. pero naisip ko lang kasi baka meron dun, kasi di ba they offer caregiving courses, at karamihan yung mga gusto mag-abroad. so baka lang may matyempuhan ka.

tumawag na ako once sa kanila, I was looking for Yaya sana... sabi nung kausap ko wala lang daw yung naghahandle nung concern ko naka-leave, so pinatawag nya ako after weekend, (friday kasi ako tumawag noon). ang kaso that weekend may nakuha na akong helper, kaya I didn't bother to call again nung dumating na monday. pero the fact na inentertain nya yung tawag ko at may sinabi syang magha-handle nung inquiry ko, that means possible na meron nga di ba. try mo lang sis.

Thanks mga sis sa suggestions.  Finally meron na kami nakuha na reasonable rate, both naman ok.  1 is RN, 1 is underboard. 

I think ok to get from an agency.  para pag kailangan magleave nung nurse/caregiver, they can send a reliever

Thanks for the suggestion, sis. Will definitely try that out. I really hope we'll be able to find a caregiver for my grandma.
