help! Hospital job vs BPO job

i used to work for a US healthcare company and we hired nurses/RNs all the time... in job interviews, it was easy to tell that their career plans were really to stay in the healthcare practice, often on the foreign country track... BPO was really an economics-driven sidestep for most of the nurses we hired -- and that was exactly the angle that we took in order to persuade them...

i guess, as with any big decision, we should be guided by our goals and dreams, para whichever path we find ourselves in, we have no regrets... best of luck to us all

Advice ko for anyone who wants to go abroad -- have hospital experience and stay there. Like someone said, most of them require na you're currently working in an acute hospital setting. Also, mas madaling sagutin mga tanong nila if you're working in a hospital. It's not just the skills and knowledge healthwise, but the skills and knowledge dealing with clients.

Pero dahil nga kakapiranggot lang ang sweldo ng mga nurse, I understand why some would go for BPO jobs. I guess depende talaga sa current need mo. Especially for our sis na may baby, talaga namang ang hirap makabuhay ng pamilya sa sahod ng hospital nurse.

How about the UK, mga sis? I keep reading about hospitals going over there to hire nurses in bulk! Their most basic requirement is an IELTS of 7.0

Most of the people I know na nag UK, antagal na dun, renew lang ng renew ng student visa nila.

Yeah, the laws have changed na so you have to earn a set amount to be eligible for PR. Bur don't come over on a student visa kase! If you climb up the ladder naman maaabot yung salary requirement. Actually kaka-extra shift ng mga tao, kahit hindi pa required naaabot siya eh!

No, you get to the UK on a Tier 2 (aka work permit) visa that is sponsored by a company (in a nurse's case, a hospital). What you need is to have an IELTS of at least 7.0, which is what most people don't meet, hence they say na mahirap to get to the UK.

^Ok sis. Actually, I don't know a lot about UK immigration. Ang alam ko lang, mahirap pumunta sa UK as PR. But sabi mo nga, pupunta muna on Work visa, not PR visa.

Anyway, the UK nurses come here in Australia, so baka kaya nagkaka shortage dun.

Yung classmate ko nung college, may nag offer sa kanyang agency sa UK na student visa tapos work later. Ayun wala ring nahanap na work after ng bridging course. Buti na lang may ate sya dun sa UK para libre accomodation. Nasa middle east na sya ngayon.

^True. Ganyan din nangyari sa mga kakilala ko who went there on student visas. Either andun pa din, renew ng renew ng student visa, or umuwi na and went to Middle East.

Since hindi pa maganda ang job market ngayon, I guess best bet is to stay in hospital either here or Middle East kasi counted na experience yun. Waxing and waning naman yan, eventually tataas na naman ang demand.
