SUGAR N SPICE, you are doing fine. Or, it may be more apt to state: You are doing the best, given the circumstances.
What can you do?
Not much more in the short term. Not more than the extreme patience and hard work you are now already expending. Let's face it: some nuts are just harder to crack. Plus, people change when they themselves decide to do so, not a second earlier.
But, IMO, you need to change your tactics if these aren't working.
Your direct appeals to him, your attempts at conversation to make him move his butt; your obvious tiredness; your working on his confidence -- well, these aren't doing any harm, but doing not much good either vis-a-vis your desired outcome.
Maybe you should give him the same messages through a different messenger?
A pastor/mentor/parent/sibling/BFF/child? Who does he listen to?
Sometimes, birds of the same feather fck together, este flock together.
Is his circle of friends like him? Surrender! Life is hard. Bad luck is around every corner?
So maybe that is 1 thing you can look into, what kind of company does he keep while you are out doing everything to bring in funds?
Sometimes, sa observation ko, hard times are dealt with better and attitudes become positive when a person is surrounded by optimistic people. Napansin ko ang mga magaling sa ganito mga religion-oriented groupings. Mga Couples for Christ, mga Born-Again groups. I am not one competent to talk about these, coz hubby and I do not "belong" to any group. But napansin ko sa mga cousins ko, their regular meetings or attachment to their church give them much strength and optimism during hard times.
But what is more important nowadays is that you take good care of yourself. You cannot afford to be sick, you are all your family has for now.
Do not also lose patience. Lalo na, hwag kang maiinis -- pag nainis ka, hindi ka makaka-pag-isip ng maayos.
And don't kick me for this, but: PRAY.
I believe prayers console/de-stress; and oftentimes, bring the solutions to our concerns to our consciousness.

, sometimes, miracles too.
