Hello!

I will be taking a teaching certification course (Montessori qualification for the 3 to 6 yrs age group) soon and would like to hear from working teachers what their experience has been like in the field.

for me, happy and contented!  though, mejo pilyo at pilya ang mga students, nag-eenjoy pa din ako! at saka hindi nakakaboring, laging may new learnings everyday! at ang nakakatuwa pa, most of the times, you're learning from the students! basta ienjoy mo lang. kung yan ang passion mo, mag eenjoy ka talaga! goodluck sis!

Teaching certification course like UP Open University's PTC (professional teaching program)? Yan din kase yung target age ko na gusto turuan.

Wow Montessori approach is great. I was once offered to work in a Montessori school but I declined because the classrooms are not air-conditioned (arte ko!) Eh kasi mahirap naman talaga na you have to be very mobile and active kasi kids ang kaharap mo, tapos walang AC.

^true! malaking factor talaga ang ventilation, both for teachers and students. at hindi lang yan applicable sa young kids -- kahit sa high school factor pa rin yan XD

im interested about taking LET.. graduate ako ng ibang course.. kung mageenrol ako teaching methods 6 months lang yun tapos pwede na magtake exam tama ba? ganun kasi ginawa ng friends ko same course kami yung isa licensed teacher na tapos yung isa di pumasa.. professional education daw?

Yes, sis. 18 units lang needed for additional teaching units so 1 sem nga (more orless 6 mos). Then kelangan mo lang magpasa  ng mga requirements sa Ched para makapag LET ka.

nakakatuwa naman. gumagraduate ba ulet yun o certificate lang? di ba diploma? hehe

pwede kaya yung yung maiden name ko parin gamitin ko kahit married na ko? di ko kasi feel na last name ni hubby lalo na pag sa ganyang bagay. tapos yun parin name na gamit pag take ng LET?

walang graduation yun uli sis haha, certificate lang pero matinding certificate yun kasi ticket mo to LET.

nag-sasubmit kasi ng mga transcripts (college and LET certification) and gov't docs sa PRC before ka mag-take ng LET so kung anong name ang ginamit mo dun sa mga government docs na yun, yun ang susundin. Unless may ibang experience yung ibang members dito sa forum.

thanks sis kakatakot naman ang gulo ko pa kasi.. paano kaya yun lalagay ko married tapos mga ID's ko     single pa hahaha

Yes indeed! Classrooms that are not airconditioned, ang hirap mag-aral (sa side ng students) sa init pa naman sa Pinas ano!

present  ... teacher by profession but shifted to the call center industry kasi mas maganda ang compensation and benefits. kapag may kids ka hindi na talaga enough ang salary sa school... although may ibang schools na free tuition fee ang mga dependents yung iba naman discounted kapag teacher ka. but for some umaalis pa din kasi marami ng opportunities abroad nowadays. looking back mas enjoy ang teaching kasi iba iba ginagawa mo kaya hindi boring unlike sa corp world sobrang nakaka drain na minsan. kaya mga co teachers ko nag call center for  a few years  tapos nag abroad na din. until now nasa abroad nagtuturo. eh ako may kids kaya hindi maka go.

just because of k-12 madaming nahire na teachers ngayon sa senior high school ah. matataas pa salary.

incoming pres DU30 will increase daw salary ng mga teachers? totoo naman kaya ito?

well, i am planning to transfer sa DepEd next year (15 years na kase ako sa 2017 dito sa present office ko) para maiba naman environment at saka para na rin sa aming Review Center business.

i hope makaabot man lang ako sa Master Teacher na item. i have MS Degree naman na and planning to enroll PhD this 1st semester.

Nag turo ako for half a year , bale isang semester. I resigned, pero nagpaalam naman ako ng maayos at tinapos contract ko. The experience sobrang worth it kahit stressful at hindi ganung malaki ang starting salary at mahirap ma mapataas ang salary. I learned a thing or two from my students. May sipsip na student, may student na sinusumpa ka sa secret files dahil binigyan mo ng singko or mababa na grades na weirdly enough kahit hindi mo binabasa nakakarating sayo at nalalaman mo na ikaw haha. pero habang tumatagal, nagiging oblivious na ako sa ganun at focus nalang sa mas importanteng work ang magturo at mag prepare ng exams.
