Reading bedtime stories to babies

Mga sis, when did you start reading books to your babies? My cousin in law said she started reading bedtime stories to her child as early as 3 months. Now the child is 6 years old, exemplaryna yung vocabulary niya. She prefers books talaga than  toys pero pansin ko medyo loner siya.

1 week pa lang si baby nung nag-start ako na basahan sya ng bedtime stories as part of her bedtime routine. mga 4-5 times a day ko sya binabasahan ng books, ibab-iba. 5 months na sya ngayon & may mga favorite books na sya. sa na-observe ko mas nakukuha ng books ang attention nya kesa sa toys. pag binibigyan ko sya ng toys lalaruin nya sandali tapos ayaw na nya pero pag nagbukas ako ng book, nanlalaki mata nya tapos na-eexcite sya.

I started when my babies were in my womb.    When I gave birth, they were in the NICU for a while.  Reading books was one of the ways by which I communicated to them while they were still in the incubator.  One of our favorite moments is reading stories before bedtime.  Even ngayon na nakakabasa na sila, gusto pa rin nila when I read to them.  It's our bonding activity.   Go and read to your babies.  It is better than tv, gadgets and expensive toys.

Hi anong type of books do you read kay baby yung malalaking books ba or yung ordinary size story books or the soft books? I've been thinking kasi of reading books na kay baby she's almost 4 months now and her attention can be easily caught by colourful images

^ A few titles I can recommend: Goodnight Moon, Guess How Much I Love You, Pat the Bunny, The Big Red Barn, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, etc.

For babies,  board books or even cloth books with colorful pictures are very attractive.

I started reading books to my baby when he was about 3 months. We read books 3x a day. My baby doesn't like toys that much. He throws them when he's not interested anymore. I bought dictionary with big pictures, pop-up books,books na mga hayop ang main characters (he loves Plummet the frog).

My boy is just 13 months so hindi ko pa pinapahawakan sa kanya yung mga soft books. I bought board books na pwede nya hawakan. I remember, one time he got hold of a certain soft book. He got too excited, he tore the pages!

I agree with The Very Hungry Caterpillar.That's one of my daughter's first books din. I started reading to mine at 9 months.Any book for her prior to that is biting/chewing material lang eh

I started reading to my daughter when she was a newborn. Until now reading has been one of our favorite bonding activities. At nighttime though, it's her dad who reads to her because I get home late at night.

I started reading to my daughter early on as well but she was never interested for more than a few minutes. I still persisted though and now she loves books!

The TV will be on (my hubby watching) and my daughter will still choose to pull out her books. She will thumb thru them and if she wants me to read something to her, she willbring it to me. Her attention span is still short though but we still encourage her to "read" her books several times a day.

I ordered my books from Amazon - so much cheaper. I bought The Very Hungry Catepillar, the Going to Bed Book and a collection of Madeline (my personal favorite). My next buy will be Richard Scarry books, I remember loving them as a kid, loving them too much that they fell apart! My mom and cousins also kept childrens books so they have given those to me. Dr. Suess, Franklin the Turtle series, Berenstein Bears, etc.

^I buy majority of her books din in Amazon, and she has her own ebooks in my Kindle Fire. Some authors I discovered there are-Mo Willems (Don't let the Pigeon series and Knuffle Bunny), Richard Scotton (Splat the Cat), Nick Bland ( The Very Cranky Bear), Alex T. Smith ( Foxy and Egg) etc.

Actually buntis palang ako I already started reading him books. After few weeks nung nanganak ako binabasahan ko na sya ng book. Naging habit namin sa bahay na pag bedtime na binabasahan ko sya ng books. Ngayon my baby is already 5 months at pag pinakita mo yung books sa kanya tuwang tuwa sya. Attentive din sya pag binabasahan mo at nakikinig na. Naging habit ko tuloy na after office bumibili ako ng mga 2nd hand baby books sa Festival para basahan sya pag uwi.

Every night kahit pagod ako galing office I always try my best na basahan sya ng books bago matulog. It pays off naman kasi ngayon happy sya when he sees colors and pictures sa books. Hopefully paglaki nya magustuhan nya rin yung pagbabasa kasi mahilig kami magbasa ng husband ko and dream ko talaga magkaroon ng kahit nook or mini library sa lilipatan namin na house. Bonding time namin palagi ni baby yung babasahan ko sya ng books or manood ng baby DVDs.

Thanks for sharing the book titles mga sis. i have been thinking on what books are good for my baby boy. I want him to love books too. I already started collecting a few interactive books or baby on our ipad while i was still pregnant. I used to read them at night then. Unfortunately nasira si paddy and we don't have to the time to have it fixed yet. Also I guess it would be better if we start with actual books so he can appreciate them old style

I would recommend Sandra Boytoyn Books as a reading material for kids:
- Snoozers Book
- Dogs
- Opossites
- Blue Hat, Green Hat
- Moo Moo, Baa Baa, Lalala

And also Dr. Seuss and Roald Dahl short stories

This has been a tradition in every house during night time. And kids not even sleeping without a bed time story. My nephew always asks for two to three bedtime stories from my dad while he sleeps everyday night. I don't know much stories i use to refer form essay writers review blog. But every day my dad use to tell him the lullaby.

This helps big time!  kahit mukhang hindi nila naiintindihan, iba pa din yung exposed sila sa reading, eventually magiging habit na!

We have a lot of books but mine doesn't have the patience to read. He only looks at the pictures an that's it. I think he's too small for this yet, but I still read to him when he's playing. How can I make him listen though?
