First contri ko sa balance fund was on april 5th this year. It is 2k every 5 and 20th. I enrolled for the primary purpose of saving money. As in yung mapipilitan akong lagyan ng laman yung bdo ko dahil merong auto debit :)

nag open ako last week ng Equity Fund. gusto ko sana ipa EIP.

kaso sabi ng agent, mas ok daw yung manual na hulog. kasi sa EIP daw, walang pakialam kung mataas or mababa ang NAVPU that day.

ang tanong ko- malalaman mo ba kung mababa or mataas ang navpu BEFORE ka maghulog ? or kinabukasan mo parin malalaman?

kasi tulad ngayon sa website ng BDO, June 26 parin nakalabas. so rate pa nung friday yon.

^ yung "mataas" or "mababa" is subjective. Example today nakita mo navpu 5.00, pero yesterday it was 4.00. Therefore, tumaas today yung navpu, pero kung 6.00 yesterday, it means bumababa. The thing is hindi natin nappredict yung fluctuation; whether taas or bababa tomorrow or next month. And it won't matter anyway kung bababa or tataas tomorrow kung long term investment ka naman kasi hindi ka naman kagad magppull out, right?
Check mo nalang siguro historical performance kung going up ba navpu nila for the past 3 or 5 years.

Mababa recently ang value kaya loss ang balanced fund ko. Anyway, long term naman din ang investment ko so hopefully makakabawi din in time.

@m_lim, no you won't know ahead of time but you can
check the psei index to get an idea of what the NAV is going
to be.

However you should listen to happynlove, it's better
if it's automatic. Given a choice you will tend to wait
out if the NAV goes down, thinking it will go further down
or on the other hand, if it's going up, you might wait
and see if it goes down.

It's not worth it. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just invest
regularly.

hello mga sisses :D

I've been reading articles regarding UITF din for weeks na! Haha.

Torn between BDO and BPI ako.. :) pero baka mag open nalang ako both.

anyways, yun sa BDO EIP, tama ba na pwede ang initial investment ko is 10k agad? Then kahit 2k monthly?  Or pwede din 2k initial muna?

And then, yun regarding COP? Ano ba use nun? Ok lang na hindi naman siya kunin if prefer to pickup sa branch? I'm aiming for long term kasi at hayaan ko lang yun pera ko sa bank, kaya gusto ko malaman kung importanteng may copy nung COP?

Salamat in advance :)

^the minimum investment amount is 1,000 per month

you will be issued a COP once na-complete ang 10,000.. you can pick it up from the bank..
it's proof of your investment and is to be surrendered when you redeem your contributions..

check this for other info about BDO EIP

Mga sis bakit ganun, parang kulang ako ng 500 sa total contribution ko. Ngayon it is 17500 and something (around 58pesos na unrealized gains) ang contri ko is 2000 every 5th and 20th. Dapat 18000 na sya plus the unrealized gains. May fee ba na 500 pesos?

^talaga sis? Kelan ka pa sa eip?
Kakastart ko lang ng April, I dont think na loss yung saktong 500 after my first COP. Or if it is, makikita ko sana sa statement.

Mga sis, have you checked your My Trust Investment section sa online banking? It seems pwede na online magsubscribe and redeem sa UITFs and EIPs ng BDO just like BPI? Or mali lang pagkakaintindi ko?

I've tried this and hindi siya ok for me. If you decide to invest less than 10k monthly lugi ka. Kase what BDO does is get your money and hold it until it reaches the minimum investment amount which is 10k. So during that time, your money doesn't earn anything. No interest whatsoever. So if you decide to invest 1k monthly, after 10 months pa talaga maiinvest yung money mo.

So better pa yung sa BPI na open ka ng initial UITF at 10k. Then hulog ka monthly, minimum of 1k. At least yung 1k mo invested na, kumikita na siya.

^jenny,

sis, did you really try it? you'd know that it does get invested. What do you
not get is just the certificate. You only get that once the *market* value
of your investment reaches 10k.

Emphasis on market value because again your invested are invested
as they are debited from your account.

If you enrolled your EIP online you'd know this to be true. Or if
you happened to be investing during a bear market, you'll realize this is
true.

I am contributing 2k a month for one of my EIP accounts and I was
expecting on the 20th that I'd get a COP because I would have been
contributing 10k at that point but I didn't get any because it didn't reach
10k due to market conditions.

Why? because again, your contributions are invested and BDO does not
wait until your total contribution reaches 10k.

I hope that cleared it up for you. ;D

^I've already tried it and I pulled it out after 3 monthly contributions. BDO account officer said it doesn't get invested, not until you reach the minimum investment amount of 10k.

I already have an existing UITF with them na I bought outright and I track thru BDO online.

I suggest you double check with your BDO branch. Kase if it's invested already, you should be able to track it in your online account

Sorry If I sound a little bit frustrated here but you obviously
didn't read the 4th paragraph of my post.

I am sure of what I am saying.  8) Again, there was a time when
on the 10th contribution date, I didn't get a certificate of participation
as the market value of my EIP was a few hundred pesos short of 10,000.

I was investing 1k per contribution date then but I had to wait
until my 11th contribution date until my EIP spun off a COP.

I'm not sure if there was a misunderstanding between you and
the BDO account officer or the account officer was really just clueless.

I've had my EIP since they first offered it back in Dec 2010 and
my memory is a little fuzzy but what you described as far as online
enrollment is correct. I had to wait for my 1st COP before I was able
to enroll my EIP online.

To further give you proof as you do not seem to want to believe
a fellow investor/client.

My EIP is enrolled online and here's a screenshot of myBDO's EIP page

https://www.flickr.com/photos/134766177@N02/20026356213

You'll notice that there are 3 lines here.
The first 2 already have COPs i.e. they have
already reached at least 10k and have been spun off.

My 1st COP as you can see was worth 11k at that time
it was spun off. This means on the 10th contribution
date, the market value didn't reach 10k and so it was spun
off on the 11th contribution date when it did reach more than
10k.

That should tell you right there that it is invested
as soon as it is debited from your account.

The current one is still on going as the market value
has not reached 10k yet. As you can see, I have contribution
6k so far but since it is invested as soon as it's debited
from your account, my 6k is worth just 5.6k due to the recent
downward spiral of the market.

So for the second time, I hope this explanation with screenshots
has cleared this up for you once and for all  :P
