I'm now considering either PBAL or EQUITY. Gusto ko lang na medyo me alam na ako before ako punta sa branch next week, para di ako nganga dun. Hehe..

Di ako makatiis, nagkapag open ako ng BDO EIP account kanina. Hehe. Yung equity fund ang kinuha ko. Sana makatagal ng mahaba-habang panahon sa kanila kaya aggressive na UITF ang pinili ko, LOLs.

Yun nga lang iisa lang ang naghahandle pala nito sa branch, at nagkataon na marami ang gustong mag-open ng kanya-kanyang mga UITF. Konti nga ang pila, pero ang daming paperwork ng bawat isang nasa harapan ko ng pila. Kaya sa tagal nagmasid-masid na lang ako ng mga tao.

Tapos noong turn ko na, may 2 ID naman akong dala. Pero yun nga lang nagkataon na driver's license yung isa kaya hinanapan pa akong resibo. Ang sabi ko naman may savings account na ako sa branch mismo nila. Pero pinababalik ako para ibigay ang resibo nung driver's license. Anyway pumayag naman sila na magfill out na ako ng mga forms dahil siguro napansin nila tagal ko siguro na naghintay sa pila. To submit na lang tomorrow yung driver's license.

Tapos hindi lang yun, kailangan pang may photocopy ang IDs - pero buti na lang at merong malapit na photocopier sa bangko.

Tama sinabi nyo @jmeangel at @mxherr, di nga pwede topup. Siguro kung may extra ako na hindi aabot ng P10k ilalagay ko na lang sa TD hanggang makaabot sa P10k na requirement.

Once a month lang ang deduction, P2k per month. Yung last week ng month kasi ang pinakakonti ang gastos ko. May remittance ako galing sa mga freelance gigs ko every week.

mukhang iba-iba rin ang procedure ng mga bank... hindi ako hiningian ng receipt ng driver's license.  sila rin ang nagphoto-copy ng dala kong requirements.  take note, hindi ko branch of account ang pinuntahan ko nun.

anyways, i'm glad you're able to open your UITF.  bagsak ang price ng stocks ngayon kaya mababa ang per unit ng equity fund.

^ Hassle nga eh. Ngayon na ako babalik para ibigay ang photocopy ng driver's license. Buti na lang may iba pa akong lakad. Mga once or twice a week lang kasi ako lumalabas.

Sana nagbigay man lang sila ng consideration na may savings account na ako sa kanila. Makikita rin naman nila doon yung transactions, na may mga remittances ako sa mga online jobs ko.

Swerte mo ang bait ng branch na napuntahan mo. Pero masaya na rin ako at pinaopen din ako kahapon. Kundi magwawala ako. 

Oo nga pabagsak ngayon. Mas masarap sana mamili kasi mura ang units. Yung mga ganitong mababa ang price mas maigi na mag-top up.

in have a bdo eip (balanced fund) since last year.  Jan 2012 ko in-start, Jan 20, 2012 yung una kong contribution.  Php 2500 per payday contribution ko so every 2 mos kineclaim ko ang certificate ko.  Pls. see my post, nung nag-try ako magredeem kasi bigla ko kinailangan ng pera:

Hindi ko na na-update yan sa sobrang busy but I think almost 4k nga kinita nung pera ko pagkaredeem ko. Balanced pa yan ha.  I think mas malaki pa yata ang growth ng equity. Till now tuloy tuloy pa din contribution ko na 2.5k per payday pero di ko na namomonitor kung magkano na value nya.  Excited lang talaga ako nung una.  Now, I'll just let it sleep and gain.  Pipilitin kong wag na magalaw ang let it stay there for 5 years.

once you reach 10k, you'll get a CoP (certificate of participation) where it states that number of units you own and the value of the investment at the date it reached the 10k

but the EIP, which is basically an auto-debit arrangement, will continue to debit your account at the scheduled time, starting the process all over again

it would only stop once you issued a 'stop investment notice' to BDO

Btw sis, pwede ba kayang mag switch from Fixed Income Fund to Equity fund? Possible kaya iyon? I'm planning to do it.

Equity funds might not be for you. Kung sa Fixed Income pa lang you worry already about the NAVPU fluctuations - mas grabe pa yang fluctuations kung sa equity mo pa yan ilalagay. I'm not sure if you can switch to another fund with the same account, but you can certainly instruct a "stop".

Fixed Income is already quite conservative kasi mixed portfolio naman ito sa mga bonds, savings accounts, government securities, time deposits, etc. Wala pang investment sa stocks.

It's either that you should have picked a more conservative investment (money market UITF, time deposits or even a plain savings account) or that you do not understand much about UITFs. UITFs are mostly prone to fluctuations - bababa o tataas ang NAVPU ng funds - always! But there are funds that have big fluctations that can really give a heart attack (equity) and there are those that have small fluctuations (money market, bonds, fixed income) and there are those that are in between (balanced funds). However, any UITF investor should understand that over long term the short term fluctuations are temporary - UITF NAVPUs will always go up, up and up!

@momish, you will be asked to open a savings account as that
would serve as the source account from which your EIP contributions
would be debited from.

EIP is just a facility that is akin to an installment plan so you
can invest in BDO's UITFs.

UITFs and Mutual Funds are marked to market funds whose
NAV(basically its price) fluctuates and as such has no guaranteed
returns.

But you can keep this in mind for guidance, "the higher the risk,
the greater the potential reward"

These are the type of funds with the greatest to lowest risk
Equity
Balanced
Bonds
Money Market

You can mitigate the higher risk by being invested for the long haul.

Balanced fund has higher risk but greater potential for high returns
Looks at my post again to find out which funds have the highest risk.

Normally, you decide which fund you invest on based on risk tolerance
and investing time frame.

Ex. retirement and you're in your 20s then you invest in an Equity
fund. It would be volatile and you might have some paper loss but
over the long haul, you would be getting bigger returns compared to
other fund types.
