Ashitaba (herbal medicine)

Does anyone here familiar with this plant that originate in Japan called ashitaba.  Its a great cure daw for diabetes. Actually it is edible. Pwede nga isama sa salad.  Out of curiosity i tasted it.  Ok lang walang bitter taste, walang gaanong lasa. Gamot din daw sa high blood at promotes growth sa mga bata.

Hi sis, yung Parents ko and yung Manang namin na may hypertension, kumakain or nagngangata nitong Ashitaba. Super effective naman sa kanila. Yung Mom ko nga kahit Hindi na uminom ng maintenance niya basta nakapag take ng Ashitaba okay na okay.

Hi. The Ashitaba you're describing ata is the Ashitaba of the Philippines. This is not the Ashitaba from Japan. I'm actually trying to haggle nga ngayon kasi medyo may kamahalan.
Mahirap daw kasi alagaan, because it should start from a fresh seed (seed na new release ng plant) para tumaas ang likelihood to germinate. Ashitaba seed daw kasi does not store well, so if you import seed, mataas ang chance na walang tutubo.

I tried ashitaba plant at masarap sya. My aunt tried this too. May friend ako na sobrang taas ng blood sugar kaya hindi matanggap sa work pero nong nagstart na syang mag ashitaba naging normal ang labtest nya.

maganda nga tong leaves na to.. my parents are taking these for maintenance at pag naisipan nila mag-tea, eto ginagamit nila..

I even referred this plant to my officemate whose mom suffered vertigo and mataas BP.. ayun awa ni Lord, nakatulong at nagtanim na rin siya nun using the stem na binigay ko.

hello. madami kami nito sa bahay. madali din sya tumubo eh. everyday kumakain mom ko nito.

If the leaves look like a standard leaf with symmetrical jagged edge, a little thick like a succulent and has micro hair on the surface, that's not real Ashitaba, it's called Gynura (gynura procumbens). I grow these too on my roof and use it in my green smoothies and with my salads.

I put a few leaves in my water bottle with herbs to alkalize my drinking water and replace the leaves every 3-4 days.

We have the ORIGINAL Ashitaba at home NOT gynura. My family also mixes Ashitaba powder to our breakfast (like oatmeal with honey) or smoothies so it's much easier to consume

I bought mine sa Tagaytay. Just in case magpalamig kayo dun, madaming plants na mabibili. Nakuha ko ng 3 for P100.

Hi Sis! I believe your plant is Gynura, not Ashitaba =) Gynura is widespread here in the Philippines as being called "Ashitaba" but it's actually not the real japanese Ashitaba. Gynura costs about 80 pesos while the Genuine Ashitaba costs more and can reach about a few thousand depending on the maturity. =)

They both have their benefits naman. =) But Gynura being marketed as Ashitaba is misleading. When my dad was asking us to look for Ashitaba, I had 2 family friends who said they had "Ashitaba" they could give me but it turned out to be Gynura pala.

Eventually I found where to buy genuine Ashitaba na. Real Ashitaba (Angelica keiskei koidzumi) kasi is known to help with Cancer.

Gynura din pala yung meron kami dito and I've been giving these to friends. Anyway I ordered sa link posted above and sabi dedeliver today. Its 1400 for ashitaba and 3 for 100 for other potted herbs.
