Baby's First Swimming Experience

Hi, sisses! Ano po kailangan ko i-prepare for baby's first swimming and how do I prevent him from having colds? Kasi pag may sipon sya ang hirap talaga. It's his first swimming and we're excited!

Kailangan ba lagyan si baby ng baby oil? And what's the best sunblock to use?

Interested to know din since I'm a first time mom and we booked our boracay trip na this June. Baby will be 6.5mos by then. So far, I already bought him rash guard, swim shorts, swim diapers, shades, hat.  Sa sunblock naman, since my baby was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis, physiogel or cetaphil ang prescribed sa kanya pero wala naman sila sunblock. One of the brands mentioned ng pedia derma is aveeno so I went and bought this na Lang. Iba yun sa face and iba yun sa body.

Last time I checked his pedia, before we go out ng malayo daw she wanted to have him finish his pneumococcal vaccine ata yun tawag dun. Next week naka schedule and then will ask na rin what to avoid, etc pag nag-swimming/beach kami in June.

Ang palagi Lang nire-remind samin ng pedia niya is to avoid sudden change in temperature. Dito raw nagkakasakit madalas ang baby.

Aveeno sunblock sis or ordinary lotion?

My baby's first experience to swim, hawak namin siya inside the jacuzzi and he was like scared at first. tapos nung sa pool na talaga with all his arm floaters nagenjoy na siya. I permitted him to swim mga late in the afternoon para hindi mainit at the same time hindi pa maghamog. never used sunblock or anything meron lang siyang swim diapers and after he showered i put cetaphil lotion all over his body para iwas rashes.

My daughter's first experience swimming was when she was 6 months old. We checked in at a hotel and we swam in the pool there. I put baby oil on her chest, back, and feet and also put Aveeno sunscreen spf 55. We swan late in the afternoon, i think basta wag lang sobrang init. We only stayed there for about 30 minutes. Yung next na nya was when she was a year old, we went to Boracay naman.

Hi sis! Thanks for sharing! 30 minutes sa water tapos di na sya nag swim ulit? Iniisip ko kais kung pwedemg 30 minutes sa water tapos pwede pa kaya lumublob ulit siguro after 1 hour rest. Tia!

First swim ng baby boy ko 7mos. old siya, banana boat for kids ang gamit ko sa kanya that time, until now,
tapos naka swim diaper lang siya, lubog lubog lang, wala pa atang 15 minutes ayaw na niya.

sa Acuatico Resort ang first time niya, so nalamigan siya sa water kaya ayaw niya.

2nd time niya sa Club Manila East, malamig na naman ang tubig, kaya iyak ng iyak hahaha, last week lang to.

Hindi talaga siya nagtatagal, so okay na rin, at least hindi siya sinisipon.

Nagpapahid din ako ng baby oil sa likod at chest niya, not sa paa kasi nag lalakad na siya eh, baka madulas.

This summer, first swim naman niya sa Los Banos, sana magustuhan  na niya since hot spring na.


Basta ingat lang sa crowded pool, kasi siyempre mahina pa ang immune system ni baby, saka better kung warm pool.

What  I bought online is the aveeno sun natural protection baby SPF 50 stick for the face and aveeno baby sunblock lotion SPF 55 for the body (2 kinds bibili ko, natural protection and continuous protection).

I still have to check his pedia Kung ok na mag-apply but I read that it's safe naman for 6mos up. And I read reviews din that it was recommended for infants at least 2 mos old.

first swimming eexperience was when he turned 1 last march. sa bohol yung first swimming experience nya. 2nd experience sa laguna and 3rd experience sa paranaque.

banana boat, spf 50 yung ginamit kong sunblock. hindi ko na sya nilagyan ng baby oil. may rash guard sya and swim short. i also bought yung parang plastic diaper sa sm, 84 pesos. medyo mahal kasi yung swim diaper na nakita ko sa baby company.

once a week lumulublob sya sa inflatable pool na binili namin for him. starts at 8am. dito lang sa bahay. tap water lang gamit namin. nakabold lang sya. hahaha..

once na nanginig na si baba or nakita ko na maputla na yung lips, banlaw na.

siguro ang pinaka don't for me eh don't leave your child unattended hehe..

we bought him a rash guard, swim diaper from Mothercare and applied Mustela sun block.

alam nyo ba saan nakakabili ng baby sunglasses at aqua shoes?  i have checked Rustan's yung smallest nila hindi kasya sa baby ko malaki pa.

^honey$13 nakakita ako sa SM department store ng shoes, di yata branded, pero maganda naman. Parang 300 pesos lang may sun glasses din, meron parang Ray Ban type etc. sa Character section nakikita

Meron din sa SM na swim diaper na mala-trunks ang dating. not sure lang if it will fit babies below 1 yr old.

gustong gusto ko narin pa swim baby ko since we have a pool at home. kaso takot ako naka mapano ang skin dahil sa chlorine. or baka ubuhin.

naku baby ko mga 4 months pa lang yata nagswimming na sa pool then by 6 months nagboracay na then now 22 months nagpalawan na rin. island hopping pa yan and swimming in the beach talaga ha 
thank God naman na wala syang coldsor anything. Now I just realise it when I read this thread
ang problem ko kase is pano sya tatanggalin from swimming kase grabe ang iyak nya.

Mag-swim for the first time 1 year old son ko this coming Saturday morning. Sa clubhouse pool lang kami ng subdivision. Ilang Saturdays na kasi namin syang dinadala dun para masanay sya sa itsura ng place. Kahapon pumunta ulit kami. Hinihila nya kami lagi papunta sa pool tapos gustong abutin yung beach balls. Nag-aattempt rin ilublob yung feet nya. Bumili na rin kami ng rash guard, trunks, floater, sunblock and disposable swim diapers nya kahapon. Ang gastos. Hehe. Pati ako tuloy napabili ng swimsuit. E sa Speedo lang ako may size. Huhuhu. Pero okay lang, excited kaming lahat kasi mahilig sa water son ko.

For the sunblock Nivea lang ang nabili ko. Yun, Coppertone and Dermplus lang available sa Landmark Trinoma. Oily naman yung lotion kaya hindi ko na sya pahiran ng baby oil. Wala rin kaming kilala na gumagawa nun so hindi talaga namin alam ang effect.

Wag sana makainom ng water son ko. I know someone na nagka-amoebiasis ang daughter nya after mag-swim. Son ko pa naman kinikiss yung water sa inflatable pool nya tapos sisimplehan ka, iinom sya.

Has anyone heard about swimming lessons for infants hre in the phil? Parang pang survival skill yung swimming na tinuturo sa infants?
