Pre school is it really neccessary?

Hi Mommies!

I have a 3 year old baby now and hindi ko pa siya ineenrol in any school. We are planning na i enroll siya pag 4 years old na siya. Mali ba ginagawa ko? i mean how important ba ang pre school sa bata?

we are teaching her abc etc and in terms of socializing wala naman ako nakikita na shy type siya or what.

Is it really neccessary na ipre school ang bata or ok na nursery na agad siya?

Schools now expect kids to know how to read and write a little when they enter "big schools." Socializing with other children is also needed that's why they enroll. Before these were not necessary but times have changed, so people adapt to it.

tayo nga wala naman pre school pre sch dati ok naman tayo diba. Pero wala eh uso na ngayon na mag preschool atsaka wala naman ginagawa ang bata sa bahay kaya ipasok nalang.

I don't think dahil lang din sa "uso" that's why we enroll our kids in pre-schools. But it's more of to be able to catch up in today's school curriculum.  Iba na rin kasi level ng mga subjects ngayon and pati expectations sa mga bata, especially now with the K12 program.  BUT if you sort of homeschool your toddler, di na kailangan ang pre-school.  Important thing is kaya niya masagot yung mga questions (written and verbal) sa entrance test for big schools.

I started my schooloing 3y/o accelerated to grade2 at 6y/o and graduated college at 19.. So im planning to the same thing with my kid pero di na yun mangyayari dahil sa K12 program. Iba na kasi panahon ngayon, dati masaulo mo lang alphabet ok na. Ngayon you need to be able to pass the exam and assessment or else di ka accept ng grade1. Bago matapos ang college anong petsa na...

I thinks yes it is necessary. 4years old kiddos nowadays can read and write. that's why they require nursery level because dun na nila ituturo ang mag read ng 3 letter words.

Nung bata ako, di naman ganyan. when you say nursery it means playtime pero ngayon as in study time. kaya pumili ako ng school for my son na fun ang way nila of teaching baka kasi mag sawa because at a young age serious na ang studies.

^ It is not too late.  In the meantime, you can homeschool her.

I think with K-12, kindergarten (at 5 years old) is required, not necessarily pre-school.  Most schools require an assessment or some sort of test before entrance to kinder and that's why pre-school helps a lot in preparing children.

My children attended preschool a few weeks before they turned 3 years old.

hi sis Princess_Chill, I just enrolled my daughter for nursery this year, kasi she's turning 4 na this coming May - I personally think 4 years old is the ideal age to enter 'formal schooling'. She didn't go to playschool/pre-school, but she did have a couple months summer schooling last year as well as Galileo enrichment classes (twice a week lang sya)

hindi naman 'required' na marunong mag-read and write to enter nursery sis, in my daughter's case ang evaluation is just to gauge the knowledge she has so far (in your case, it's a good thing na tinuturuan mo sya sa bahay), and they wanted to see lang if she's responsive, if she has separation anxiety, and how she communicates and interacts with others.

I think ang mas importante, more than the reading and writing and 'academic preparation' before mo sya ipasok sa school is yung emotional readiness nya. hindi lang yung hindi sa shy, kundi yung she can interact well and harmoniously with other kids and a person of authority (like a teacher). better if potty-trained sya. and you can also work on her focus/concentration - kasi sa classroom setting very important yon.

to be honest one of the reason na hindi ko pa siya ma enroll is proximity wise, school and financial situation.

proximity and school - valenzuela kasi kami and wala kami mahanap na ok na pre school na may chinese near our place so
we are considering na lumipat ng manila para andoon mga chinese schools na ok.

finanancial - since like namin sa chinese school namin ipasok si dau e medyo madugo ang tuition ng preschool kaya
pinag hahandaan namin mabuti.

im considering na i enroll siya sa galileo enrichment kung 2x a week lang kakayanin ng sched ko

my daughter will be turning 3 na this may,balak namin ni hubby ienroll na lang muna siya sa government day care center para may interaction siya with other kids and sa teachers na rin..para magkaroon lang ng idea yung kiddo namin kung ano ang meron sa school and at same time 500php lang magagastos namin para kung sakasakaling ayaw niya munang magschool in the middle of the school year, hindi kami manghihinayang na hindi niya matapos yung schoolyear..importante kasi para sa amin ni hubby na ready siya pag sa mga big school na namin siya ieenroll..

sis  imdWOMANwhocntbemove: that's what we did din last year sis, kasi hindi pa kami financially ready for schooling talaga. and yun, we had to withdraw my daughter mga august ata - she just wasn't ready yet. good thing na barangay day care center lang sya, kasi very minimal lang yung na-dole out namin na money for fees.

sis Princess_Chill: same din tayo ng reasons sis. pag nagstart na kasi ng school tuloy tuloy na, so tuloy tuloy na din ang gastos, you really have to commit to it din financially, so better to get into it when you're ready na talaga. try mo Galileo sis if may malapit na center dyan sa inyo. it's a fun way to learn, and in fairness, hindi naman sya kamahalan. we live in bacoor sis, and dito din walang mahagilap na playschool sa area namin. the good ones are either in alabang or las pinas area, ang layo, and a bit on the expensive side too.

meron nga ako nakita na galileo malapit sa amin and in fairness sakto lang price niya hindi iyong sobrang mahal.
sa may i enroll ko siya doon para lang makita ko din if she's ready na or not...

hirap nga iyon na mag bayad ka ng tution tapos hindi pa palay ready si baby...

Kami sis we are planning to enroll our daughter sa toddler school next year, she'll be 2 1/2 years old. Plan ko mag installment basis kung hindi naman ganon kalaki difference sa full payment since masyado pang bata anak ko baka mamaya e umayaw kapag nasa school na sayang naman ang pera.

when she's 4 years old dun namin sya eenroll sa big school talaga. i think ideal age talaga ang 4 years old e. The reason why i want her to be in toddler school next year is para maka help sa kanya na maiready sarili nya sa big school.

i need some advice mga sis,,

enroll ko kase yung son ko sa preschool he's 2.5 yrs old. actually nag start na sya mag school nitong february na enroll na namen sya sa school nya and we just pay 5000/month tapos natigil sya kase nag ka fever sya for a week nitong march..then plan na namen sya i-enroll ulit this june..ang initial payment namen dapat is 17k..

question is, necessary ba nag mag bigay kame ng 17k for initial payment? kasama dun kase yung miscellaneous fee na 11k plus nag increase sila sa tuition..nung feb kase na inenroll namen sya hindi na kame nag bagsak ng malaking amount..monthly din ang payment scheme na plan namen kase baka nga ayawan naman nya along the way..

3 yrs old.kaso due to reasons na di namimeet ng school un expectations namin as parent on how they should handle our son,plan namin itransfer sa ibang school.our payment scheme is monthly.nun inotify namin un school,kinausap kame ng principal.ang sabi we need to pay the misc fee in full.tama po ba un?sorry sa mahabang post.

Usually po talaga, binabayaran in full ang miscellaneous fees pero check niyo na rin ano ang kasama sa miscellaneous fees.

On topic, my 2 kids are already in high school, pero pareho namin silang na-enroll sa pre-school. So, my daughter had 3 years schooling before grade 1 and my son had 2 years kc pinaskip sya ng isang year. Maganda rin na maaga pa lang, marami ng nami meet ng ibang bata ang anak natin. Natuto sila ng maaga paano makipagdeal sa mga tao kapag hindi na tayo ang kasama.
