Once a month no overnight
But if there's a special occasion then I'll allow an overnight, like this past holy week, she went home Friday and returned Sat afternoon.

Midwife yaya - once a month, no overnight.  This is non-negotiable for me.
The rest of the house staff:  24-hr off every 15 days.
But nobody goes off on weekends or pag may party sa house, or we have house guests --  non-negotiable din ito unless there is a critical event like graduation of a kid.

Christmas and New Year:  12 hrs off (in addition to the 2 24-hr offs for each month) for Xmas and for New Year.
But if we are going to be spending the holidays at other family parties --  they get  24hr offs for Christmas & New Year.  Off is scheduled parang hindi sabay2 - either before the day, day itself, or day after.

Birthdays: 24hr off (not on weekends pa rin)

BUT when we go abroad with the kids,   I give them 2 days off at least, in addition to whatever regular 24-hr days off.

Every week! Yan kasi ang policy ng mother ko so ako naman naging ganon na rin. Sabi ni mother, karapatan nila ang mag day off every week just as me day off ka sa office... upon reading others posts here di naman pala kailangan every week! Kaya ngarag din ako kahit me yaya ako noon kasi Saturday and Sundays ako nagaalaga sa baby ko kasi nga day off ni yaya...

1x/month, then may 1 week vacation pag summer, then day-off pag b-day niya & new year, if we go on vacation abroad with the kids pwede din siyang mag vacation.
tapos minsan pag sa hapon umaalis din siya to do small errands which i don't mind.

I give 2 days off/mo.

Pero if needed naman na more than that Ok lang basta ipaalam in advance. Para macheck namin if pwede ba kami para di kami mag-schedule ng lakad on that day. Depende din sa helper kasi minsan ayaw nila mag off kasi most of the time if they visit relatives it is expected na sagot nila ang gastos like meryenda etc. So yung iba ayaw na mag-off, kapag kinakailangan na lang.

with the implementation of the Kasambahay Bill, kelangan na weekly ang dayoff ni yaya, right? pag di sya nag-dayoff does that mean kelangan syang bigyan ng OT pay?

If they want to follow the kasambahay bill then 2500 ang sahod. Toiletries gastos nila lahat. Fair deal naman. I dont mind kahit weekly basta no over night.

I tell my maid and yaya they can take their day off weekly as long as the Yaya schedules her off weekends when I'm at home, and as long as they are not sabay.

For our helpers (cook, cleaners, drivers) and my girls' 2 yayas, once a week - they can choose whether Saturday or Sunday lang and no overnights. Once or twice a month if ever they want na mag-overnight, but if ever there's occasion/emergency, we allow them up to 2-3 days basta magpaalam ng maaga. So far, I have no problems with everyone. :)

Rule is 1 day off a month - balikan yan.

But when I hired a yaya - she asked for 1 overnight OR 2 days na balikan.  Pumayag na ako..

Oh god, buti pa kayo! My yaya gets 1 day-off a week kaso ginagawa niya, she'll take her days-off ng sabay-sabay. Kesyo she misses her mom daw who's living in Antipolo and since we live in Sta. Rosa, sayang naman daw yung trip niya if uwian agad. Naawa naman ako because she's only 21 and baka nga naho-homesick. Last weekend, she left early morning of Saturday (as in tulog pa kami ni husband!) then Sunday night, I received a call from her sister, asking me where she is dahil hindi pa daw umuuwi sa kanila! Turns out, eversince she started working for me, she doesn't go home to Antipolo pala but instead, gumu-good time with the boyfriend. She came home late afternoon na ng Tuesday!  Nakaka-stress! Akala niya ata boarder ko siya! Sa galit ko, I told her enough is enough. She's only allowed 1 day off a week, period. Good thing yung mom din niya sinabihan ako not to allow her to take so many days off na from now on and that I should text the mom everytime she leaves my house.  O diba, para ko siyang alagain bigla!  >:(

^^Maraming ganyan!
May isa akong naging helper na for a month she requested emergency leaves!  Kasi daw yung anak niya may sakit.. And then another incident, she was really worried kasi asawa niya na-accident.  Eh, kaka-day off lang niya two days before.  When I asked her kung nagkita sila nung nagday off hindi daw.  Nalamanlaman ko(from my yaya), naggogoodtime sa mga katextmate!  May asawa ito ha...

Haha, sis Candice.. may morality issue pa si helper mo! Grabe no? Para-paraan maka-leave lang ng matagal. To think, I give her incentives when she doesn't take her days-off para mas ganahan wag na lang mag-leave. Oh well, ano namang laban ng incentive sa quality time niya with the boyfriend!

Yes, per that KBill:  1day  off after 6 days of service.

Ah hindi puede.  For me, that's gonna be messy: scheduling of 7 helpers.
Atchaka hindi nga  ko pumapayag off on weekends coz  everybody is home & I wanna relax!
Gusto ko ma feel on weekends the full service of maintaining a house staff of 7 - ano, ako pa aburrido on weekends? No way!

Where we are now, 4 go on 24-hr leaves every 15 days
3 prefer 48hr leaves 1x/month.
Lahat non-nego: no offs on weekends.

Para in compliance pa rin with that KBILL -- my counter offer is:
In addition to the total 48hr leaves per month, the 12th month (not after 12 months, but after only 11 months) --  is  full pay leave.  Plus 1 way transpo. (& bonus).   If you return - I reimburse you your pamasahe back to work in my house.
Compare that to the weekly 1 day leave & only 5 day leave after 1 year per KBill ---  Aba hindi sila dejado!
