eh mga sis san ba mganda college school exclusive for girls? yung my BSHRM.
after ko kasi manganak magaaral ako eh seloso si hubby. at ilang taon ba hihintayin bgo pwede nako
 magaral after manganak? tnx mga sis!

Moms, is ICA a progressive / traditional school? And ok ba if both kami ni hubby e di naman chinese speaking talaga. Sa current school ng 5yo ko may chinese class kasi sila, and gusto din naman namin ipagpatuloy yun para kahit papano 3 languages siya. Nag inquire kami sa Miriam Kinder, english & filipino lang. We will check Poveda na din.

Hindi ba magiging pampered masyado ang bata pag progressive pati gradeschool & hs, now nasa progressive yung anak namin, ok sa kanya madali niyang natututunan ang lecture kaya nagaalala ako kung i-Miriam ko siya pag grade school baka mabigla siya sa dami ng homework. Kung progressive naman ulit baka di siya matuto sa load ng resposibilities pag laki niya. Ako kasi from traditional school, kaya medyo pinagpipilian ko muna ay progressive or montessori, least na ang traditional....

To add, re Miriam CSC. My hubby & I went there last Th, for 1 time payment (kinder) P95,989. May 2 payments & 4 payments, subject to increase pa daw mga 5%.

Interested din kami sa Poveda, and kung mag mrt kami ng kid ko mas mabilis kaysa mag dala ng car  from QC kasi kami & MRT north station pwede kami then Ortigas ang baba..... Ayaw ko naman na sa hapon ang pasok isa pa usually sa hapon ang class suspension pag may bagyo siguro ang anak ko lang ang poveda student na magm-mrt

Is it true na mahirap na makapasok sa Poveda if you'll apply your daughter in Grade 1?
I plan sana to apply my daughter when she finishes her pre-school. I also checked their website, medyo huli na until Aug.30 na lang pala application for Kinder 2.

ashara, pwede ka naman mag aral agad agad after mong manganak, 2 months after siguro mga ganun. parang nag maternity leave ka lang (like those women who are already working) pero depende din sa magiging takbo ng buhay mo when the baby comes but you can go to school as soon as you can.

^^lesser # of slots come grade 1...usually those slots of students who move to other schools or country or those boy students (yes, there are boys for k1 and k2. most of them kids of teachers and staff). But for this year, they added another section. So instead of of 4 sections, they have 5. There were  at least 35 new students.

Jessica, my daughter takes a taxi with me or the yaya going home. Ang late kasi ng uwi with the school bus so it's more practical to go home with a taxi. And no she's not the only one who does this

^^^^hi sis Jessica.. I think ICA follows the progressive approach in the pre-grade school level then subsequently to traditional approach starting grade school level. There are many kids there whose parents do not speak Chinese and are not Chinese at all, what they do is enroll their kids in tutoring class after school.

Thanks mga moms. Sa cultural naman nagtanung kami afternoon ang chinese class nila. Sa Miriam nago-offer sila ng chinese every saturday ata ang class pero grade 3 nila i-offer..... Parang late na sa kanila if ever i-add ko yung saturday chinese sa anak ko, e grade 1 pala entry ng kid ko kasi 5.10 na siya by june.

Btw, as of yesterday, wala pang sched ng entrance exam sa miriam grade school. Nag punta kami kahapon, di pa nila kinuha requirements ng kid ko wala pa daw kasi sched. Yay! As published kasi September open na sila....

Try ko din muna mag inquire sa MI grade school habang traffic sa katipunan & Poveda (naku lata na ata kami). Buti naman may mga low profile kahit papano sa poveda kala ko kasi lahat talaga dun w/ yaya + personal car pag sundo. Hassle lang talaga kasi edsa pero madami naman magagandang school din outside q.c.

hi..i'm an alumnae of St. Scho Marikina.  This school is more affordable compared to Poveda, ICA, etc.  And yes, it's true that they produce the simplest students.  Kasama kasi sa values na tinuturo are 1) simplicity of lifestyle and 2) solidarity with the poor.  Totoo yung they prefer simple school supplies para walang inggitan. 

Kapag may Christmas party, they impose the rules na 1 solid 1 liquid lang.  Meaning kapag pizza, pizza lang wala nang spaghetti, barbecue).  Bawal ang softdrinks.

Sa hair accessories, you can only use black, blue and white.  Socks should be plain white - walang tipong logo ng Nike or whatever.

They have good command of English and I've proven that nung nagcollege ako.  The foundation kasi begins with grade school.  Also, yung Math nila for high school is really competitive.  I can pitch for that kasi I went to an Engineering school.  Ako na ata ang isa sa medyo under achievers sa Math ng St. Scho Marikina pero I performed better than my classmates sa Engineering school (I went to Mapua for college).

Sa simplicity of lifestyle, they also have this tendency not to have bongga parties for high school such as proms, etc.  Pinakalenient na yung fact na may high school dance sila.

Also, to avoid the girl-to-girl thingies ng mga students, they discourage the bringing in of gifts (stuffed toys, flowers, etc).  The guards inspect the bags upon entry lalo na kapag Valentines' Day.

Hi jan888 really ICA is now leaning towards the progressive method of teaching? I'm a graduate of ICA, spent my kinder-HS years there and I never would have pegged the administration as the type to shift from traditional to progressive. It's good that the MIC nuns are adapting to different methods. Just curious to know but how much is ICA kinder/prep now?

I'm a Poveda graduate, so obviously, I'd like to tell you more about my alma mater. Of course, all the other schools are really good, too. I've encountered many girls from Assumption, ICA, Woodrose, Miriam, and St. Paul from my years in college and medschool, so really, you won't go wrong in enrolling your child in any of them.

Hi! since you came from Poveda I just want to know the environment there. Sobrang dami ba talagang bullies? and is it really true that some students look down on you if you just celebrate your birthday inside the classroom? We were informed kasi that most students celebrate their birthdays in hotels, clubhouse etc. Thanks!

^AA is around 75k yata just for the tuition, I'm just not sure. Sa ISYC, 75K ang tuition this year including uniforms, school materials, school trip. Next year baka mag-increase na naman sila ng mga around 3k.

wow! AA is way lower than AC San Lo pala talaga.

^I was talking about AA or Assumption Antipolo, not SanLo. Although I'm guessing they would have the same school schedule na din. In AA, their 1st grade class starts at 7:45 and ends at 3:30. I visted AA last month when I inquired and some of my co-parents at my daughter's preschool have daughters who go to AA as well. This is a big leap coming from a 2.5 hours schedule at preschool. Most of them say that their daughters have been able to adapt with the school schedule but their current struggle is the curriculum's transition to K-12.

^yes I know you were referring to AA, I was just wondering why magkaiba sila ng AC in terms of schedule. the curriculum should be or expected to be the same di ba.

PAREF Woodrose was a perfect fit for me, but it's been years... and I don't see a lot of comments here, so it really depends on where your child learns best.
