Hi mga sis!  I haven't finished backreading this thread so I'm not sure kung na-clarify na to.  I'm confused na kasi regarding Freedom to Marry.  Some said na for foreigners lang daw required 'to (including Filipinos by blood pero hindi na Filipino citizen), some said basta based ka abroad for more than 6 months, you need to provide it.  H2b & I are both Filipino citizens pero Permanent Residents na kame dito.  I've been living here for 8.5 years na & si h2b naman for 5.5 years.  Umuuwi naman kame for vacation.  Since paiba iba yung info, I asked yung secretary nung Diocese, and sinagot niya ako in a masungit manner na kung ano lang daw asa information sheet.  Eh I was so stressed sa work nung time na she replied to my email, kaya natarayan ko din siya.  hahaha!  Nakakapikon kasi na you work for the church tapos ganyan ka makipag-usap.  Ang tagal nga bago sinend sa amin yung list (after 3 follow ups yun).  Hindi ko na tuloy ako nakapag follow up question na if it's not required, how come yung isang form na sinend niya for Canonical Interview eh asking for our address for the last 6 months.  I hope our sissies can clarify this.  TIA!

Hi sis,

Iba pa yata yung Legal Capacity to marry and Freedom to Marry. One is for the application of marriage license which is a legal document for the foreigner (kinukuha to sa embassy nung foreign national). Yung isa naman is for the church (regardless of the nationality basta you did not live in the Philippines for 6 months) this one, kung both kayo, tig isa kayo. This is the same case ata even if you are married sa civil, kasi daw, in the eyes of the church you're not yet married.

Overseas bride here for 6 months. the 1st 3 months yung mahirap kasi wala pa kaming venue pero while i was abroad nakabook ako ng OTD, HMUA. mahirap kasi gumalaw pag hindi mo pa nabobook yung venue kaya nung umuwi ako pagkabook ko ng venue sunod sunod na si caterer P/V then hinintay ko dumating si fiance para sa bridal gown and suit. The rest binook ko sa bridal fair. then now overseas ako uli for 3 months ang kulang ko nalang yung mga documents like yung Precana (naghihintay pa ko approval ni parish priest na payagan kami sa San Agustin mag precana di kasi aabot si fiance sa 2 weekend precana ng church namin. 2 weeks before the wedding kasi sya uuwi), Marriage banns baka ipaasikaso ko sa parents ko. Yung marriage license paguwi ni fiance una namin to aasikasuhin. abot naman kami sa 10 working days.

hahaha!  Sis vitug.annie, yun yung first dinner ko pagkadating ng Phils.  Yun yung lagi kong request kapag umuuwi. 

Thanks sis z0z for the info.  I asked my schoolmate who got married at Fernbrook and hinihingan daw siya ng Freedom to Marry but she contested that and sabi niya US priests don't issue it and civilly married na sila so there's no point to provide it.  Yung isa ko naman na kakilala who will get married at Fernbrook (Same country kame naka based) was told na she doesn't need to provide it kasi although based overseas for more than 6 months, eh Filipino citizen pa din siya.  Ewan ko ang gulo gulo nila.  Di ba dapat standard mga requirements?  Pero it seems, depende sa Parish... or kahit same Diocese na, hindi rin consistent.  H2b will talk to them daw pag-uwi namin to clarify kasi alam niyang baka hindi ko na naman mapigilan magtaray kapag sinungitan ako.  hehe!

^ hi sis. I just checked the list we got from our church before (nov 2012 ako kinasal), sa amin sis si hubby foreigner and siya lang need ng legal capacity to marry (same that we submitted for the ML application). I've been away na din for 6 years when i got married but since Filipino ako wedding banns lang. Although i did hear din before na need ng freedom to marry kapag ilang years ng hindi resident sa pinas but hindi sya required sa church namin.  Si hubby binigyan din siya ng local church nya ng freedom to marry certificate but i don't think we used that.

Thanks sis shegie_285 for sharing your experience.  I guess depende talaga sa Church... or minsan sa mood ng secretary.  hehe!  I'm not saying all of them pero mostly, they don't sound they're willing to help kapag nagtatanong tayo.

^ swertihan sis. I had a problem sa baptismal cert ko ang sungit daw ng secretary dun sa church sabi ng nanay ko. Gusto nya nga awayin. Hehe.  Pero buti sa church kung san ako kinasal super bait nung secretary.

how about if you guys cut your 2 weeks in two and then go for the first 1-week leave on an earlier date then the second 1-week leave for your wedding?

the purpose of the first 1-week trip will be to do all the fittings, food tastings, ocular inspections, meetings, etc. then the second leave, for the actual wedding itself.

i don't know where you are located though.  i'm giving this advice on the perspective that you're living in a country close to the philippines like singapore (in my case).

it's actually possible to plan a wedding overseas especially if you have a coordinator. i also have a coordinator and i have booked all the suppliers from overseas. my communication with them is mainly through email, viber, and fb. the positive thing i got going for me is that i'm already pretty sure about my suppliers.

If I'm not mistaken, you are from NZ right? I remember your post about the wedding budget and all kasi.. By the way, I'm an overseas bride too.. When we planned the wedding last year around August 2014, I didn't waste any time and booked my suppliers right away.. (of course, I had to read feedbacks muna by then) although my coordinator helped me chose which suppliers to book para hassle free na the preps since malayo nga ako. Around October almost booked na all suppliers. I think sis, ang difference naten ay sa paperworks kasi we're civilly married na so super smooth lang ng preps ko.. Last December, we went back to Manila for a short trip.. as in short like 8 days lang but we were able to do ocular of the venues, meet some suppliers, had my gown measurement, accompanied my entourage for their gown measurements too, engagement shoot, I met my florist na din..food tasting with caterer.. etc. I was able to attend a wedding pa nga non and did some immigration tasks. Anyway, what you can do is try to ask permission again from the boss and explain nalang that you are preparing for the wedding. If wala talaga, you need to set a date for meeting na with your suppliers. Gawa ka din ng schedule mo and agenda for each and stick to it. Explain din to suppliers that you have limited holidays to use. Next uwi namin will be in may na..which is 2 weeks before the wedding and we still have lots of things to fix and suppliers to meet. Other tasks that you can do while you're there are the ffg:
-guest list
-seat plan
-diys (if you have any)
-avp
-collect old photos
-compile your pegs
-choose your songs
Them keep a constant communication bet you and your coordinator. .and other suppliers of course. So far, ano na lahat  nagawa mo? The paperwork kase if you can ask someone to do it for you baka pwede naman. Seminars you really might need to attend as part of reqts in catholic weddings.

Sis ninetwenty, we are in exactly same situation because h2b is only allowed max of 3 weeks.

We only have 2 chances to be in Manila, this May and the wedding na. Here's our timeline:

May (2015):
- We will have a civil wedding (pero di na to applicable, kasi we married in Vegas), given this you won't have to worry about the marriage license na may validity lang na 120 days. The requirement of the church now will change to Marriage Certificate.
- Have the pre-cana or Discovery weekend. It turns out wala namang validity to so no worries
- Meet up with the suppliers we booked, so food tasting, mockups, first fitting of the gowns, trial make up and the works

Jan-Feb (2016)
- We will arrive 2 weeks before the wedding
- The next day upon arrival we will have our canonical interview.

Other documents needed:
- Yung marriage banns will be taken care of by our coordinator
- All other documentations that di naman kailangan ng presence namin, she would get/process it for us.

He's not catholic, it turns out he doesn't need to be baptized and confirmed to be catholic to be able to marry in a Catholic church. They allow inter religion and there's a paper he needs to sign I think saying his religion allows him and we're going to raise our children Catholic.

Our coordinator is the one who made that timeline for us, I availed of the semi-full planning that's why she takes care of other things related to documents.

-arrival at naia, bonding with family, went to pampanga to leave my son with my parents so that magagawa namin lahat ng lakad (which is a good move i guess)
-supposedly cake tasting but it was cancelled (and hubby's not happy bout it) lol, but we understood naman.. bad start lang for our meetings since naka sched nga lahat. kaya make sure you get your supplier's commitment with meetups.
-shopped for my prenup gowns

nov. 30
-attended church
-went to couturier to have my hubby and entourage measured for their suit and gowns.
-shopping for hubby's prenup attire
-dinner with friends
-bought wedding rings
-check in sa hotel near prenup area so that hindi kami mattraffic the next day

dec. 1
-salon pampering in AM
-prenup in the afternoon til 7pm
(this is the time i first met my photographer and coordinator na rin at the same time, nandon din of course the hmua) kaya madami na kami na-tackle together, good idea din to.
-dinner with friends after

dec. 2
-attended seminar at cfo, for aussie immigrants
-went to dentist in bulacan OHA!
-dinner with our principal sponsor (bulacan)

dec. 3
-gown measurement with my designer in QC
-meeting with florists in QC
-met hubby's friends in makati

dec. 4
-church ocular and reception venue
-initial food tasting with kbyc
-back to pampanga topick up our son

dec. 5
-hotel check in
-attended a cousin's wedding
-hubby met some friends late night

dec. 6
-flight back to melbourne

technically 7 days lang talaga lahat yan nagawa namin..

next uwi namin is may 17, pero arrival in  manila is may 18.. may 19 i think final gown fitting ko na..then may 20 final FT and detailing ko na with kbyc.. payment ko sis, final settlement is 2 months before wedding so april fully paid na kami.. i will still need to meet my videographer, as per my videographer's request..may 3 remaining meeting pako with coordinator, need ko din imeet the host and musicians.. gosh whoelse? hahah i need to make another sched narin for that..

Mine kase is package na..like venue+caterer package so fixed na the rates..tapos I'll just settle the full amount with glass garden 2 months before the event..then GG will be the one to pay KbyC.
If may add ons ako I think I will have to pay it directly kay KbyC para hindi na magulo ang contract.

actually, ang wife ni ghe ang nag insist before na magmeet kami even if we talk a lot on fb chats. according to her, better na mameet namin si ghe before the wedding para at ease na kami sa kanya during wedding preps.and para madiscuss narin namin what style we wanted, type of music, etc. but i think yung aim tlaga is maestablish yung relationship namin with them and for ghe to know a little bit about us...which i think is okay.. weekday kami magmmeet to make sure na wala silang event.. i just  love how they treat their clients and aysa consolacion is super nice.

Hello sis's <3 im a newbie here and also an OB! are there some sisters from Austria or Germany? Our target wedding date is January 2016 (PH/Manila or Batangas)... Civil wedding July 2015 (Austria)... how did you organize the documents for the church wedding in the PH? what are the requirements besides of translating everything? Are there important deadlines to keep in mind? Regarding the wedding seminar, is it possible to attend/complete it abroad? I really appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you ^^
