^Depends on what pump you're using and how powerful the suction is. The key thing is to make sure that you've drained both breasts (this you'll feel naman) = the more drained it is, the more you promote milk production. If I remember correctly with my medela freestyle, the instruction manual said start with 15minutes (and using the suction strength you're most comfortable with) but later on it got to the point where 25 minutes na hindi pa rin fully drained ang both breasts. Now I'm on my tenth month, kumonti na ang milk talaga and it takes me about 18 minutes na to finish and feel ko na drained na talaga.

Good luck!

musta na marssie? :) how old is your baby na?

i am on my 2nd baby na and ebf for almost 3 months. i think i have an oversupply. how do you deal with it? should you limit the number of pumping schedule or limit the time of pumping? thanks in advance.

btw, the fb group breastfeeding pinay is a very informative group as well (for those with fb access) :)

^^sis iristacey!!  :) :D you gave birth na pala? ang bilis parang kailan lang kino-congratulate ka palang namin :) 14months na baby ko and BF pa rin kami, yay, salamat sa inyo, naging sobrang inspirasyon ko mga posts niyo :) Hayst at talagang blessed ikaw, dami mo milk :) never ko naexperience ang oversupply more on exact supply or habulan supply hehe pero im so happy that i was able to managed pa rin :)  nabasa ko rin sa FB group na pag over supply nga limit muna ang pumping and more on direct feeding muna kay baby.

Question din ako, nagpapalakas kasi ako ng supply at nakakita ako ng magandang area para mag pump.. okay lang kaya for one hour same bottle lang ginagamit ko at nakastandby yung milk at pump? Nabasa ko kasi ganon ang power pumping, kaso medyo nagdadoubt ako kasi matagal nakaexpose yung milk at pump, nasanay kasi ako na after pump ref agad..

^thank you sis sa advice. I'm thinking of buying yung Tote na may cooler. Thank you!

Bili ka nalang Fridge to Go. You can pump during office hours, before leaving the office, tas if ever sa North station ka bumababa, pwede ka rin magpump sa breastfeeding lounge in Trinoma :)

upto 16months din ako nagbf but on my second trimester, hardly have milk na talaga and baby weaned on his own na. now he gets the extra bm that i pump. before i pump every 3hrs. now 3x na lang ako magpump dito sa office yet i still get the same amount as I have with my panganay before. even 3hrs had passed, i still get 4oz per boob. that is in 5-6mins pumping. so i get home with 20-24oz pa rin.

chocoholic88, i bought my fridge to go from mama.baby.love at fb. sya si jenny ong (chronicles of a nursing mom). it has its own ice packs. but since i travel from-to cavite-pasig, i add some more cooling elements like techni ice and ice packs.

con0120, ideally pump after 6th week to ensure established supply. however, if you have a preemie baby who stays at hospital, some, if not most, encourages mom to pump for baby to feed especially if via tube.

^ Wow sis! 4oz per boob. in 5-6mins pumping is already a superb for me since i only get 4 to 5oz both breast in 10 to 15 minutes kaya 2 to 3 lang naiuuwi ko everyday. :) By the way, i so love your avatar/icon, ano ba tawag dyan :D pumping mom :) ang cute :)

Been breastfeeding my son for almost 18 months now, exclusively well almost? Kasi Ive been giving him the milk in little tetra packs like selecta fortified ive tried na din half a cup ng powdered milk minsan since last month. Pero bmilk padin sya almost the whole day + solids ofcourse.

Problem is he's skinny ang hirap nya patabain and people are commentin on his body structure payatot daw has any of you encountered this problem dun sa mga nagbbfeed pa din ng toddlers? But hes not sakitin naman and hes super active.

^  As long as your son is healthy, happy and thriving, you should not worry too much.  My sons are also skinny but they have never been confined in the hospital and have perfect attendance in school because they rarely get sick.  :)  Being on the lean side is NOT a problem.

In my opinion, Pinoys' preference for chubby babies is wrong.  Chubby babies usually grow to be overweight and obese kids.  My sons have several classmates who are overweight and these boys have a hard time in PE.  Why?  Because they cannot run fast, jump high and control their bodies well.  Childhood diabetes and heart illness are on the rise because Pinoy children are fatter these days.

@priceless

by the way, is it safe to breastfeed while in front of a computer?

HELP! Anybody had a problem here with OVERSUPPLY and OVERACTIVE LETDOWN? My son is 2 weeks old and lagi sya nakikipag-wrestle sa left boob ko. I let it spray nalang on a towel and pag humina na ang flow, i latch ulit. Pero lagi syang may battle with the boob. Nagagalit, naf-frustrate, may biting and pulling (ouch!), Nagiging gassy.  I tried different positions, sometimes even hand express a few para lang mabawasan pero by the time na iinom na ulit si baby, nag replenish na ata ulit ng milk supply so malakas pa din ng flow. Or na-stimulate ng sucking nya.

Im already thinking of pumping then storing (kahit dito sa left boob lang) but isn't is too early? Baka lalo lumakas ang milk.  Sa firstborn ko kasi - girl - hindi nya kinaya yung overactive letdown so i gave in to the bottle tapos exclusive pumping.  This time kasi, i need to purely breastfeed para matagal dumating ang period ko.  Im battling kasi with hyperactive endometriosis - 4 na cysts na natanggal sa akin and mukhang it doesnt stop there.  Ayoko na magpa-opera so my doc will give me GNRH shots (pseudo-menopause) and it will affect my milk supply.  I should have the shots pag nagka-first period after delivery, otherwise, baka magkaron na ulit ng cyst.

So should i starting pumping ad storing na? Pls share your experiences and insights. Thanks ladies!

Hi sis! until now i have oversupply. i didnt pump much until i reached 6wks. what i do is to hand express a bit before feeding and do positioning. max hand express amount by 1oz. wag more than that. if you can nurse lying down na nakadapa si baby sayo much better. check this out. the laid back positioning and australian hold helps until masanay si baby. si baby ko he unlatches by himself when he feels the let down. if you feel the let down, you can remove baby first from latching. then i started pumping at 6wks. i gave the milk to my panganay. you can store it naman din sis.
