need help mga sis...

pano ba mag motivate ng gradeschool na napaka tamad mag aral...
yun kahit hindi na bantayan or utusan...kasi medyo busy din e...

grade 4 sya ngayon pero syempre huli na ang lahat kasi finals na...
pero sana may tips kayo dyan na  pwede ko gawin for  next school year

Hello sis! I have a daughter who's currently in 4th grade too.

I encounter that problem too sometimes. Pero yung ginagawa ko sa daughter ko, I give her reward everytime she excells in school but I explain to her na hindi dapat laging ganun; hindi lahat ng bagay may kapalit. Kahit hindi material things okay lang, just a simple snack after studying will do.

Make him/her enjoy studying, help your child to study sis. And of course after nun bigyan mo sya ng play time. If medyo late na and she/he needs to sleep, mag-bonding nalang kayo sa weekend.

Don't be too harsh on your child, nakakainis pero kailangan nating intindihin yung kids natin, hindi naman kasi basta-basta maiiwasan yung "katamaran". Good luck sis!

I personally don't agree with having a tutor. I never liked the idea - you need to gear your child up to become self sufficient in their studies, otherwise they will never learn. Study is a discipline and I strongly believe that this discipline is more important than the lesson being taught. I have cousins who had tutors all their lives - even in college! They became so used to having someone create tests, drills, tips for them that they never really reflected on themselves and understood their own learning styles and traps.

Try to make learning fun - and multi-dimensional and exploratory instead of just memorization (another thing I hate about local curriculums) and for compliance.

count me in... I have an incoming 4th grader this june.
kahit malapit na ang exam kung hindi ko tatanungin hindi nya malalaman na exam days na.
sa assignment kailangan ko pa sya tanungin kung may assignment sya para gawin.
pag review time I also need to remind her.

galing sya sa public school, last year sya nagprivate. nung nasa public sya nagtutor sya kahit nitong grade 3 sya sa private.

mababa grades nya nung nasa public sya inisip namen baka madami masyado student at hindi sya matutukan kaya nilipat namen ng private aircon pa with tutor (dahil wala ako time magturo sa kanya at maigsi ang pasensya ko pag hindi nakuha agad)

ang sistema nya pag exam na ang pagrereview nya sandali lang, ayoko na lang magsermon sa kanya kasi nakailang exam na ganun at ganun lang din ang ginagawa.

pagkauwi galing school (panghapon sya) derecho laro na sila ng kapatid nya. minsan nasesermunan ko na napapalo ko pa paramalaman nya na galit na ko kasi hindi sya nagaaral at laging bagsak ang exams. explain to the max ako kung bakit ako galit at marami na akong naibigay na example at scenarios para lang mahiya naman sya sa sarili nya o samen at magaral na ng seryosohan.

naka 4 periodical na exams mantakin mo walang pumasa kahit isa. may naikuwento pa saken ang hubby ko na may binalita daw si daughter ko na nakapasa daw sya 10 out of 10 napangiti naman ang asawa ko good daw. pero sabi ni daughter ang galing nya daw kasi hinulaan nya lang! toinks!

naalala ko tuloy nung mag Grade 4 ako... dyan din nag start yung pagiging walang gana ko mag aral... biglang humirap ang mga subject knowing na laro pa rin ang gusto ko... kaya parang tamad talaga mag aral...

Good thing terror ang dad ko. nag resign sya sa work para lang matutukan pag aaral namin... ayun kahit na tamad ako mag aral palagi pa rin ako napasok sa school kesa naman nasa house na makikita ko dad ko... (unhealthy sa pakiramdam yun)

Sa lahat ng level ang Grade 4 to 5 ako nahirapan talaga... but nung nag Grade 6 ako sinipag na ako mag aral...

why?

dahil sa adviser namin na every friday may Top 10 students... so naging competitive ako... hindi ko nga lang kinaya mag Top 1 para maka receive sana ng medal sa graduation...

mula nun naging competitive na ako sa pag aaral... nung High School hanggang College lagi ako sinasali sa Quiz Bee...


I think nasa Environment din kasi ng School yan... hindi nakukuha sa takutan...

thanks sa replies... result nya ngaun grade 4 sobra baba ng mga grades, may summer pa sya ng english... kainis!!! advance lesson for grade 5 kuno... hayzz

hope madagdagan pang tips nyo para sana hindi maulit next school year. di naman sya ganun dati e. super ok mga grades nya ... as in... wala syang line of 8 puros line of 9's tapos pag grade 3 nya puro line of 8's na lang walang 9's.. NAKUUU pag dating grade 4 namumulaklak ng line of 7 buti na lang walang bagsak pero sobrang bad trip

marami kasing factors kung bakit tamad ang bata mag aral
1. Hindi alam ang importance ng studying for his/her future
2. Not fun at all for them
3. No benefits for good results(for some)
4. Enjoys a different activity like playing all day long

As for me, when i was a kid mahilig ako magaral dahil gusto ko laging nasa top ng klase. Then later on, dahil gusto ko magkaroon ng bright future ahead

Dati tamad ako magaral, but my exbf motivated me well, he will buy me shoes and anything i want kapah mataas nakukuha ko sa exams  it was fun and i became a cum laude  after that

You have to help the child realize that learning is what will bring him to his dreams later on.
Mga bata imaginative. So create and make their dreams real. Para  maging hungry to succeed.
Pag ang presentation ng studies/work kasi eh drudgery, or duty -- hay naku, hard to motivate.
Atchaka, have a positive  attitude to helping the kid buckle  down to it or to sort it out.  Hindi iyong, nauna init ng ulo mo, or suya mo.
Fire up enthusiasm to learning... Tie-up mo sa travels, sports interests, etc etc.  You gotta connect the theoretical learning to practical livng.

IMO, kelangan din develop sa kid yung kapal ng mukha, parang hindi  shy or hesitant to be competitive/assertive or  to excel. 
Again, IMO, yang katamaran, lack of initiative/enthusiasm, irresponsibility -- mga problemang ganyan -- get solved when the kid  becomes hungry for something ---   Parental/peer  approval, some  material benefit -- whatever the kid  responds to most positively --  therein lies the solution to it all.

Tips ko:

-make learning fun and give variety as regards method of teaching/ learning. I use the internet in reviewing them in spelling, social studies etc. I also drill them in spelling while giving them baths.
-relate the subject to something in which they're interested in.
-Naaawa ang kids ko sa mga laborers so sabi ko magiging ganun work nila kung hindi sila mag study :p
-my other daughter enjoys 'reading' her books to me kaya kahit walang homework ay nag lelesson kami

Dapat may reward system para ma-encourage ang mga kids mag-aral. I do not have a child yet, but  I do have a nephew and a niece na 4th and 2nd grader. And everytime magsusumbong ang sister ko na kesyo tamad mag-aral ang mga kids, I talk to them and palaging sinasabi ko na pag may exam/quizzes na na-perfect nila, may monetary incentive iyon. Or minsan bili kami ng kahit anong gusto nila come grocery day. At pag mga periodical exam naman or mga major achievements,  like may honor for example, medyo malaki rin ang price namin diyan. Ang maganda dito, you not only encourage them to do good in school but you also teach them to work for anything they wanna have.

There are also some websites na pwede mong i-introduce sa kids para ma-encourage silang mag-aral. Like sa nephew ko, boy kasi yon, and parang medyo may katamaran mag-aral kesa sa sister niya, what we did was on his tablet, we only install/download educational games. It also helped him acquire new knowledge, eh.
