Japanese restaurants!!!

I brought my parents & bro to Watami for lunch today. We liked the fatty salmon sashimi, assorted tempura and sirloin steak. The takoyaki and spicy salmon maki were just ok, nothing special. The Nagasaki ramen was blah. I'm not planning to come back - not worth the price IMO.

I was originally planning to bring them to Seryna at Little Tokyo kaso FAIL!!!! Walang parking available even though 11:15AM pa lang! Eh mainitin ulo ng dad ko pag driving/parking matters, he barked at me saying, wala bang ibang makakainan na may parking space?!? hehe.

Ayun, nauwi kami sa Glorietta, in fairness maluwag pa parking sa Park Square, hahaha! Kasi naman, super limited parking sa Little Tokyo!!

We like eating sa mga Japanese restos in Little Tokyo area. Reasonable ang price and authentic ang lasa. Sa Hana resto ang gusto ko din ay yung Takoyaki nila. We prefer eating in Izakaya Kikufuji. Okay mga bento nila and their grilled asparagus with wrapped in bacon.

Magkano yung range for sushi and ramen sa Little Tokyo?

We got to try Nanbantei at GB3. Their specialty is yakitori. We ordered the Bestseller platter and the Surf & Turf platter. I actually enjoyed it.. siguro kasi ang daming variety.. my favorites were the aspara maki and poteto maki. For rice, i ordered shitake rice and loved it! Ang sarap nung mushrooms!! Yum yum!!

Depende sa resto but for 1000php per person ok na yun (sobra pa nga). I suggest mag-bento para marami matikman. Okay bento lunches sa Izakaya Kikufuji at Seryna.

I just tried Kai (GB3). It was just ok, i'm not raring to go back... I didn't like the tuna salad w/ sesame onion salsa. The tuna was really fresh, but i just didn't like the combination or flavors. The yellow tail sashimi was fresh as well, but i wasn't too crazy about it.

Re spicy negi tuna: they weren't kidding with the "spice", hahaha!! It was really spicy! I've tried some "spicy" rolls/maki in other restos, but i usually enjoy it. For this one in Kai, it wasn't enjoyable, haha! I could feel the spiciness running through my nose, haha! (or maybe i just really have a low tolerance for spicy food...)

Osaka Ohsho: The katsudon was bland (ulk!), but the crab cream croquette was YUMMY!!

Sana matry ko yung Haru someday. It kinda looks intimidating from the outside by mom told me na okay lamg naman daw and idk, parang di siya as overly impressed as others. I saw a blog before na may eat all you can sila? But i guess special ocassion lang siya for the bloggers?

Nobu in City of Dreams

Overpriced, IMO. Anliliit ng servings, super-bitin. Taste-wise, pwede na. But might not be going back there again soon, unless siguro ilibre kami, and sky's the limit. Haha!

Per piece ang sashimi, di ako nasarapan sa mackerel e favorite ko pa naman sana yun.. wala din salmon sashimi. Sushi rolls, pwede na ang serving size, pero taste-wise, so-so lang, nothing extraordinary. Masarap yung new-style sashimi, 8 small slices ang one serving, pwede na.

Masarap wagyu tacos, pero yun nga, per piece, then bite-size lang so not sulit for the price. US tenderloin steak na yata yung pinakasulit sa na-order namin. Masarap pagkaluto and tender ang meat. I forgot na yung ibang inorder namin. Sa sobrang jonti ng serving, parang di ko na din masyado maalala lasa nung iba. Haha.

Wallet damage - Inabot kami 13k+, 4 lang kami. Di pa kami nabusog. Haha!

^yeah, i'm not planning to go to Nobu if i'm paying. their price is extremely padded because their clientele are the wealthy gamblers with ultra-deep pockets. i'll get much more value for my money elsewhere. grabe 13K+ for 4pax?! naku, we can spend that money in four different excellent Jap restos elsewhere.

on another note, we just tried Yabu and i enjoyed the experience of grinding the sesame seeds! haha ang babaw ko lang. i ordered the Kurobuta set and i loved it! although when i compared it to my dad's Rosu set, yes it was more tender, but i didn't get much of a difference taste-wise (or i just don't have a discerning palette, haha!). my mom had the Hire and Seafood Katsu set and liked it - the creaqm dory tasted good!

Are there counter seats in Ippudo Megamall and Ramen Nagi Greenbelt similar to the counter seats in Yushoken?

Per my recollection, the Jap restos i've seen w/ counter seats are Sugi, Seryna, Yushoken, Ikkoryu (Aura) and Nanbantei. Saan pa kaya meron?

Sana meron pang ibang ramen house na may counter seats, usual na siya sa sushi houses.

EDIT: i just saw in the web that Mendokoro Ramenba has a KICKASS counter-style seating! And i read in a review that it's a "serious ramen house" like Yushoken. I gotta go there soon!
